Human beings are basically pack animals, and we tend to go nuts without sufficient social interaction. That's why solitary confinement in prison is considered the most cruel level of punishment. Prolonged solitary confinement eventually drives most prisoners insane. Add to that fear of infection, loss of livelihood and general uncertainty about the future - the covid has triggered a global mental health crisis on top of all the economic hardships. Suicide rates in Thailand and many other places have skyrocketed ???? We got no choice but to cut each some slack and accept some whackyness until things improve.

I agree - I can't clearly visualize the crime without a reenactment photo. But who would do the finger pointing?

Hmmm. I've been here 15 years and never had the police or immigration officers check my visa while walking on the beach. There is something missing from this story.

By Thai law every 5th floor fire exit must be unlocked so that people in the fire well have a chance to escape back into the building to try another exit if the stairway below is not passable. It took a lot of complaining to get our condo to conform with the law, but it's insane to lock all the doors. Hundreds of people could get trapped in the stairwell if they can't get all the way down to the ground floor exits. Our building fire stair wells are not horribly unpleasant - there are windows and vents on every floor. With headphones it's a bit stuffy but tollerable . Solitary - YA that's the best part! I've been walking the stairs for weeks with a mask in my pocket but there's never been anyone else in the stairwell.

This is a very bad. It makes the recipient a criminal stealing from a bank for any withdrawals after the date of death. You must create a Thai will for any hard assets in Thailand. I had a farang friend who died without a Thai will and even his legal Thai wife could not recover the money in the Thai bank accounts registered only in his name. There may be a process for it - but she gave up after a couple of years trying.

I've been climbing the stairs at my condo. My knees are bad so I walk up the stairs, take the elevator down, then do it again. I've found it a surprisingly pleasing way to get an aerobic workout with a lot less knee pain than I get from walking. I usually swim laps, and now I'll keep doing some stairs even when the pool opens again ????
