parrafin stove
The smell of paraffin & inside you could see a little blue light.
There was a cartoon advert about buying paraffin, just cannot recall it.

yes and we had the original blue coppers box, in those days all a copper had was a whistle and a truncheon,
and if he needed assistance he had to run to the nearest police box and ring up ha ha
Dixon of Dock Green.. wasn't that a great show.☺️
"Evenin' all"
Sadly now, in response to the mayhem, they have Tasers.

We do have one young lad in our town with food. Many of the homeless in the UK are drug or alcohol dependant.
There is help for them but they choose to stay on the streets.
Well unfortunately, the help is difficult to access, & it takes a long time to get treated.
It's the same for them trying to get accommodation.
They don't have money for a deposit, & council houses are difficult to get.
Many, many of the homeless & drug addicted didn't choose their plight, their life just spiraled out of control, & they have no one to assist them.
Without going in to too much detail, many addicts have suffered sexual &/or physical abuse in early life.
Using drugs for them, is a coping mechanism.

Indians changed all that; even under the burden of being labelled 'Pakis' by their Brit
I remember when these P shops first opened, they got a lot of flak & racist abuse.
Now, many of them are doing extremely well, & have big businesses.
All because they understood that they had to work hard to get on & succeed.
Too many people, especially young graduates think they deserve high paying jobs immediately after Uni.

I don't support any Thai person; I will often give 20 baht to people on the street who clearly have nothing.
Before someone chimes in with criticism of such a small amount, I cannot help everyone.
However, within my lovely extended Thai family, I help where I can.

Wow. I consider Malkovitch to be one of the greatest actors of his generation. I'm biased though because I got to see him live many times before he was famous and met him personally. What happened?
Yes JT, I agree.
He was superb in 'Portrait Of A Lady'.

“ Nyezhov “ ?
Went to live in Siem Reap and drifted off the forum, don’t believe he has been reincarnated as his style would give the game away.
Always wondered what happened to him, his humour was always spot on. Made me larf a lot

Nope, but if we don't keep on topic... etc.

Don't forget the Flying Saucers...
I can almost feel the rice paper dissolving in my mouth, & then the sherbet leaks out.. Delicious!
Apparently, they're still made!

When they built your house did they silicone the sink in the benchtop? Mine have the excuse that it makes it easier for him to fix things later.
I said it was new, why would it need to be fixed?
Best not to answer your first question, off -topic & all that...????
Nope, no silicone used, & around the gas hob the silicone is intermittent.
I don't think a lot of the wiring is correct either, but that's for the future.
Continuing to rain, the fish in our pond are loving it.
They're up to 500gms now, since we bought them in October.
Do you live up here Rob?

You have my vote for MOTY.
After you finish your traineeship that is.
Ask you builder to show you his spirit level. They are too lazy to use them, always do the drains by eye, and the result is, the drains don't drain.
Thank you Bobby, your support is noted ..
When the house was being built, the only time I saw a spirit level it was covered in plaster & lying on the floor.
Surprisingly, the doors are all hung correctly.

Perhaps we could have a WOTY? ⚓
There are many candidates.
Or TOTY....best trolling story?
On another forum, many years ago there was a thread from a guy who alleged he'd bought a new Audi.
It was all bolleuax, but made for interesting reading.
Back on topic....????????
Still raining, but it's nice & cool.
Allegedly, the builder is coming round tomorrow to sort out the drains, which don't do their job properly.. i.e, drain. ????
Doubt he'll come though....????️

Holler.
This looks ok:

Ebert gives it 4 ⭐, so it should be worth a gander.

Yes, there are many reasons.
Do you really think that people choose to become homeless?
I think there's a lot of poetic licence in your post; and fantasy.
