In Thailand you generally have sizes of Single, Queen and King size. Those are a few cm different in IKEA, and generally don't fit well when mixed together. Simply IKEA is using EU sizes, and Thailand uses UK sizes. For example, IKEA single bed frames measure 200cm x 90 cm while UK singles measure 190×90 cm.

Anyone replace Honda Civic Hybrid Battery?
tomazbodner replied to In Full Agreement's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Apologies. I have no experience on 2013 Civic, but there were many Prius owners (2011-2014) that complained their cars had ... whatever the box that charges battery ... died soon after unofficial battery replacement, and the cost of that part was 200-300k baht. Technology of both is similar so I would saw it might be better to replace from Honda than elsewhere. Unsure about the cost of battery but 70-80k baht seems to be average price for hybrid batteries of that age of Japanese hybrid cars. -
Technically, you were supposed to cancel your extension of stay after cancelling the work permit within 7 days. BOI issues DWP but if you had a paper booklet, it's something like that written at the back. As such, even if it's technically still valid, it should have been voided. You might not have an issue entering Thailand on it, but you sure will when you apply for new work permit and new extension of stay. Last time I was doing this for a colleague, they sent us straight to police station to pay fine before they'd process any documents.

Me neither but now I also realise I got it all wrong. You don't wear mask to protect yourself from getting infected from others, but wear a mask to prevent others to get infected from you. So I'd guess infected members probably don't really care if they infect anyone else... SARS or HIV.
-
I guess all of you anti-maskers never wear a condom with a prostitute. I mean, it's not mandated. Why don't you demand your rights to get infected there? Nobody dies of HIV either. It's the other diseases that kill you if you have it untreated. So what's the difference?

Anyone replace Honda Civic Hybrid Battery?
tomazbodner replied to In Full Agreement's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Wasn't hybrid Civic just released with 10 year battery warranty? If this is about 2022 model, replacement should be covered by warranty. Else... Asked friend at Honda, official repair is about 80k baht. -
IKEA has their own sizes on some of the items, like beds, so if you buy a bed frame from them, often you need to buy the mattress and bedsheets from them as well. Otherwise their quality is good. Bought their kitchen and all except their counter tops was good.

AAA International Driving Permit Question.
tomazbodner replied to Loinx22's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Mine was in English and French, but then it had a bunch of papers stapled in it with translation to many languages, including Thai. When getting it, I was told by the lady issuing me with it that there were 2 types of it and she had to look up which one Thailand recognised. It was only 1 year validity one, not the ... whatever the other one was... 2 years, 3 years, don't know. But as said, the one I've got had Thai translation stapled in. -
Crazy Asian hotels are being created for the selfie generation

There's my internet cable in there... somewhere... -
You need to understand something. Each of Prawit's watches costs more than you'd bring into Thailand in a lifetime. You need to look at it from Thai politician's perspective. Farang rich. Farang love Thailand. Farang must pay. PS: And your wife and stepdaughter are quite high maintenance if they cost you over a million a year.

Using a 5 stage filter (from Pure, if that makes a difference) with UltraFiltration has no strange smell, taste or after taste, and I've been drinking it for a good year now. Can't tell if it's harming me but having done the <deleted> test on filtered water, it's disappointingly showing same or higher than the tap water that goes into filter. <deleted> is always around 200-300 range. Tap water before that is in 150-250 range. It definitely filters out the sand and other solids, just not dissolved ones. At least UV lamp is in it, but still... considering changing to RO filter now, but difficult finding table-top model that hooks up to the faucet since Xiaomi stopped selling them. Most are under-counter type or have own tank at the back. So far only found Coway but no idea whether they are any good?

Should the Thai government ban mobile use for motorcyclists?
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Like mentioned above, I also disagree with this. Phones are used for GPS navigation, and are crucial for the delivery drivers and just about anyone else driving in unfamiliar areas. They could however enforce some sort of phone mounts to put phones on while driving to see the maps, and ban/fine picking up the phone while moving the vehicle, which could as well extend to the drivers of other vehicles (cars, trucks, buses, etc.). -
Travel international with a DTAC sim, cheapest way?
tomazbodner replied to Digitalbanana's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I've used DTAC roaming (for a while they had a package which had included roaming in monthly post-paid package). It worked, but... The reason for it wasn't really for calls or SMS, but for data, and for that... speed of it was dreadful. Like if I was being locked to like 128 kbps or something. It was OK for chat messages, but even taking a photo and sending it took so long I just gave up and sent stuff off when I hooked up to Wifi. Eventually I gave up and enabled roaming from AIS, which was maaaaaaanny times faster - on SAME network! Hence I could not recommend it. -
Should Expats Be Able to Speak Thai
tomazbodner replied to NickyLouie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Surely there is a very simple way to improve Thai literacy of the expat AseanNow members (at least most of them) by introducing a Thai language exam as part of the extension of stay requirements. Maybe start with retirement extensions?
