The cost of living is not that low in Mexico relative to Colombia and Ecuador. You are welcome to avoid countries for whatever reasons that you have  Personally I feel living in Mexico where I would live in Mexico would be much safer than where I would be able to live in the USA. There are roughly 1.5 MILLION Americans living in Mexico. Mostly they're not being murdered

There are  a lot of expats in Mexico  because  it's cost of living is lower and they can drive there and easily get back to US for health care  or other reasons. Forget the Drug Cartels you can't even trust the police down there.

bloody hell.........when i was 14, they would have had to arrest every boy in the school for groping or molesting a girl of the same age.......everyone did it........thats what happened back then in the 70's.......it was experimenting, learning.......and most of the girls seemed to like a bit of groping anyway........

Times change, you know the Metoo movement. I know in Boston when I was a kid guys ,especially around construction sites would whistle at cute girls walking by. Do that now and you can be arrested for assault. Hek I was an athlete kinda buff had nurses taking a lunch break outside Mass General Hospital who whistled at me when I walked my mom out to our car.  Mom and I just laughed

How exactly is a photo of Obama with Yingluck supposed to prove that Obama had a suit made at the shop in question?

Here is what the actual Obama White House says about his visit: "Though his stop to the country lasted for less than one full day, the President visited a Buddhist temple at the Wat Pho monastery, met with Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, held a joint press conference with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, and enjoyed a dinner hosted by the prime minister at the Government House in Bangkok."

That's right: he was in the country for less than a day and had a very busy schedule. But you're claiming that in between meeting with the king and dining with the prime minister, he somehow snuck out to a tailor shop  without a single person noticing?

My post was to the poster that said many of the people mentioned  as having been to Thailand were never here , thus my post. Do not reply as you are  now the first person I have ever put on the Ignor list, congratulations.

My post, which is literally directly above yours, says this: "George H.W. Bush really did pay a visit some decades back, but everything else is a lie -- and again, a pretty obvious one. "

Now your "rebuttal" is that ... George H.W. Bush really did pay a visit? And then a change of subject?

No evidence for your earlier claim that "various US Presidents had their suits done at that shop [and] their security detail aka Secret Service men have their suits made there as well"?

You wrote that Bush's visit "made all the news papers here and US. Was even on US tv." So how did visits by Barack Obama, John Kerry, David Cameron, etc. go unnoticed in the internet/smart phone age? And how come George H.W. Bush is the only one of these supposed high-profile customers the shop actually managed to get a picture of?

No  they did not go unoticed but I am not going to search for them for you.  What i meant when I said it was on TV in US and news here is as a  famous dignatory Bush was followed around by reporters/press . Photos were taken of him in different venues  such as the tailor shop and then articles were written in Bangkok, Thai , US papers as well as tv programs of his visit and what he did. There were  news reports in BKK papers ,TV of his visit to shop and there are photos of him taken in the shop with the tailors and also on video/film.  You or another poster said some people mentioned in the vid probably were never in Thailand. Yes they were.  Photo below of Obama when he was here with PM Yingluk Shinawatra. I am done trying to convince you if you want more info you can doyour own searches of  old news reports.

Not only is this BS, but it is also very obvious BS, as others have already mentioned above.

Sorry to disillusion you, but these shops rely on an unethical sales practice known as "lying." They lie about pretty much everything. Those shirts they told you were "Egyptian cotton"? They're actually Chinese poly-cotton blend. Those mother of pearl buttons they gave you as a free add-on, because you're special? They're plastic.

And the US Presidents? The US Secretaries of State? The UK Prime Ministers?

Well, George H.W. Bush really did pay a visit some decades back, but everything else is a lie -- and again, a pretty obvious one.

Seriously, which of the following do you think is more likely:

    1. Multiple leaders of multiple G7 countries are all descending on Thailand's red light district to buy suits from the same mediocre tourist-trap shop, but somehow no one has actually noticed this amazing phenomenon except for the owners of that shop themselves -- and they somehow cannot provide any evidence at all, beyond a wall covered with supposedly "autographed photographs" (because everyone knows US presidents carry around autographed photos to hand out to the stores they visit?).

    2. The owners of the shop are lying. All the autographed photographs that line the walls -- Barack Obama, David Cameron, and the others? The shop owners printed out pictures from the internet and signed the pictures themselves. It's a pretty low-risk scam, actually: Barack Obama and David Cameron can hardly call them on the lie, given that Barack Obama and David Cameron have never even heard of (much less visited) the shop in the first place.

Your account of their story is your opinion but not fact. I was here when Bush was here and it made all the news papers here and US. Was even on US tv (think it was 60 mins)and CNN you can Google it. The reporters came over to Thailand to interview the tailors. Same as when President  Reagan was in my neighborhood of Dorchester in Boston  and stopped his calvacade to get a beer at the Erie Pub on Dorchester Ave.

Not sure if staff changed at T@Ten. Husband went to have shirts/pants made. Indian guy couldn't stop looking at his phone while showing the one & only roll of cotton twill material they had. Shirt material was just sample books. How would they get a Thomas Mason material within 2 days I wonder? We are not tourists.

IMHO the work is not probably done in that shop but at a second location where the materials are kept. That's is why second /third fittings are sometime done. Tailor at the shops takes your measurements other shop/factory uses the material and makes suit. Then you come back to have the prime tailor make any adjustments needed.

I’ve had 3 Tailored suits in my time here.... (Raja / Narry) - not terrible, not greatly impressed either, somewhat underwhelmed really.

I’ve had 3 off the rack-suits slightly adjusted (length and cuff) which were excellent (Paul Smith, Hugo Boss, Givenchy).

The former (tailored) do not come close to the latter in terms of quality.

The Latter cost at least 3x more than the former but have lasted a lot longer.

So, Tailored suits... IMO they are not better than a good off the rack suit, but they may be better than a cheaper off-the-rack suit for the first 6 months.

The additional facet is your shape: IF you are of a standard physique there are plenty of good ‘off the rack suits’ which will fit you.... However, if you more portly, shorter legs, or if your limbs are stretched and you’re dragging your knuckles it may be more difficult to find a good off-the-rack fit.

But...... don’t think you are getting a great suit from a tailor in Bangkok... you are not, you are getting an OK suit which fits and thats about it. The rest is just ‘feel good factor’ that you have ‘arrived’ and had your own tailored suit and can now throw around the word ‘bespoke’ as if you’ve strolled down Savile Row and had your pick  !!! ????...

That said: Tailors in Bangkok are good for making <deleted>s - completely forgetting about the actual suits for a moment - the Tailors here do make decent shirts and that is something worth looking at.

I’d just shop around a lot first to find a good ‘off the rack suit’ if getting an excellent suit rather than an OK suit is your thing.

I don't think a lot of Thai Visa readers bothered to view the vid I posted. Not only have various US Presidents had their suits done at that shop  but their security detail aka Secret Service men have their suits made there as well. Reason, as in the movie John Wick the suits are designed  to hide the fact that the wearer is carrrying weapons.

Most guys I've seen in Thailand don't have a perfect body so buying/wearing a suit made for them looks better, feels better than an off the rack suit .

  9.  Above are probably  the best in Thailand . I don't agree with you about $99 suits, have seen some places that were in MBK Mall  in BKK and shops in  Pattaya that could make a very good looking suit for maybe $50 than $99 that looked much more expensive. Sometime you have to tell them to double stich or use premier thread  so as not to have problems later.

You are indeed a lucky man. I have known closely at least 30 farangs here have married or extended relationships with Thai women and not one of them has ended well. Not to say they don't exist but the odds don't seem too good to me. Even if she is honest, doesn't have debt / kids / husband you do or don't know about, then there is the family hurdle. Guys I know that had at least a stable relationship had deep pockets and were prepared to keep coughing up for the woman and extended family. Seemed to have a mutual understanding but not what I would call a mutually rewarding existence. Some of the others in a state of standoff where she really wants the guy gone and he doesn't have any choice (or money) but to stay. That would cover 5%. The rest ended miserably usually with the guy getting left penniless and in despair.

    You said :

"... have known closely at least 30 farangs here have married or extended relationships with Thai women and not one of them has ended well.  ..."

I have always failed to understand why some guys here do not do deligence. Example I know of no guy in the US who would marry a girl or say get a pretty GF from a go-go bar and just give her say $100,000 and tell her "go buy us a house"   They would get a realestate agent to  check out property  and a lawyer to draw up a contract if not married or even maybe a prenup if they are married. Over here  because they don't know the language/laws  they just give the cutie the money  and then years later gripe about how stupid was I . Really? As I said guys making bad choices. No reason to put car, condo stuff in Thai wife/GF's name and contracts can be drawn up to protect the farang.  In my case even if my precautions  did not work out  my money = retirement pension, assets at home are deposited in a US bank which I transfer funds from every month or as needed.

IF somehow she was able to bypass the safe guards I have in place and get the car/house,condo here  my pension still comes to  me every month. I could walk away with the full income coming to me and move anywhere in Thailand and rent a place and find someone else. Could even move to Phillippines ,Vetnam ect  so as I said before guys making bad choices . You don't  hope for diviorce/break up but you can lessen the damage/pain with a little common sense and planning.

As I said it depends on your choice /person. I had a friend who came over , partied with 5 bar girls in his room.  Liked one and ended up marrying her. She wasn't that pretty but much younger. He was dating an older girl in US but she was too old to have any kids which is what he wanted.  He married the Thai girl and she gave him the son he always wanted. They are still together today after 17 years and are actually visiting Thailand right now.  So those that say it never works out with a poor farm/bar girl  I know that it can as with my friend. Maybe not likely but the relationship can work out. It always depends on the girl  and as well the family you marry into.

PS: Have other friends in US married to Thai for many years. 1 married manager of Thai Hotel in Pattaya. 1 other waitress at Thai restaurant,  1 maid at hotel, 1 other sales girl at Major Mall, 2 Thai school teachers.

  12. International tourism will be significantly revived after Test and Go ends.

Thailand was known as a fun place to visit with Full Moon Parties, Songkran, massage parlors, go-go's, bars open tillearly mornings and for families Temples , eco tours, beaches, water parks and templs.  Untill they relax the stupid closing of bars/nite life  they will never see anything approaching 40 million tourists a year  ever again. Could see that if they actually opened  casin's instead of talking about it  and also actually alowing recreational Canabis/Kratum. Aslo if the hospitals didn't try to rip off  farangs it could be a medical destination as well. If they wanted they could also attract elderly retires who would rather spend time in a Thai Assisted living  complex rather than one in USA or EU>Russia

The dangers of Mexico are real.but often greatly exaggerated considering the areas gringos usually stay at and their typical activities.

The girl inlink above was first molested by her Uber driver who then kicked her out alone alongside a road. Later she was raped  and killed.  Women in Mexico  and some other countries say India are held in low regard and considered fair game for rape /murder. I would not move to any country like that. Your choice if you want to move to a place like that. The low cost of living would not outway the dangers.

As for immigration the very first counter got it wrong with the form i needed i had the correct one i might add.....

Will try a bigger known visa (well there website is bigger and seems known) agent on monday anyone in BKK with a recommendation would be good.

I accept Dr Jack that research would have made it easier and i did do my research which goes too show you how much <deleted> is on the internet, it would have been easier if i had of known someone who had already did the process.

Lak Si immigration is located in the IT Square Building ( Mall) ,it is not the same as Immigration Bld  B ChangWatenna shown in bottom photo.

The bank account is not the main problem. An agent can open an account easily.

The issues is to obtain an extension and that would require funds in the bank for 2 months.

He can use an agent and would be best to obtain extension based on retirement.

He still has time to exit Thailand and return however has left it very late. From the OP.....

"I have extended my 1st Entry and my 90 days, plus 60, is up in 6 days"

We don't know if his 60 days is a covid extension or 60 days to visit  wife. If it  was a covid extension he could get 60 days to visit his wife and season the money.

    Where did I say this?

My posts have solely aimed at your attempts to lecture survivors on how they should behave and your victim blaming.

I think I understand a point he's making that you don't.  You're saying he should not lecture survivors/victims on how they should behave but if the women are lying or willingly entering into a relationship  and then because of woke attititudes  change their story are they surviors?   Courtney Stoden who at 16 married an actor 51 years old and demanded that she have that right as she was mature enough ( her body certainly was) Many people argued she was too young, and now she is saying was too young and was a victim of grooming and is writing a book about it.

    https://people.com/tv/courtney-stodden-opens-up-about-ex-doug-hutchison-alleged-grooming-upcoming-book/

Even Pam Shriver comes out now to say she was having innapropiate relationship with her coach at 17 and then started sleeping with him at 20. So now 40 years later she realses maybe she shouldn't have been sleeping with a married man, feels guilty about it so tells her story to protect other women.  So how many go into a relationship and then recant their  reason.  Had a case in US where a college girl  blamed a sports team for gang raping her ---case was dismissed after film showed she was inebriated but a willing participant and was not forced or held down. They sometimes regret their actions so cry a crime was commited.  Had a girl at work grab my ass when I was talking to a female supervisor. I jumped. Sup asked "did she touch you? "  I said "no she bumpt me and I wasn;t expecting it."  Another time I was on phone wearing cut off shirt, girl raised it up. I said "what are you doing?" She said "I wanted to see if you dye your chest hair" If I raised a girl's shirt saying I wanted to see what color bra you have on they would be removing me in hand cuffs and probably be beating my ass.
