  1. Was that after Trump sent in the military without legal justification?
  2. Gov. George Wallace told LBJ that the state was unable and refused to provide for the safety and welfare of the protesters. Gov. Newsome had everything under control and didn't request for federal intervention. That's the difference.
  3. After Ukraine invasion which was a turning point in public opinion in favor of NATO membership.
  4. Under which aspect of the Constitution and federal law for Trump to send in the military.
  5. Alabama rioted for months before LBJ or was it JFK sent in the troops. Lots of consideration and planning but not Trump. Peaceful protests around 5 blocks in downtown LA. LAPD had the small protest under control. Then Trump sent in the troops the next day and escalate the protests and now protests spreading in few other states.
  6. If Trump be on the right side of the law by getting authorisation from state governor to deploy the military, the Democrats will not be angry.
  7. Lets hope that they will no Barney who open fire at perceived provocation.
  8. This will be the real test whether USA will honour their obligations to Article 5. Under Trump, not so sure with his open declaration of friendship with Putin.
  9. This was said by military officials regarding rules of forces for National Guard and Marines. While all the troops are carrying weapons, their guns will not have ammunition loaded in the chamber, officials said, but will carry ammunition as part of their regular uniforms that can be used in the rare case of needed self-defense.
  10. He has been activist for Palestine cause for 19 years and no one is suprised by his outburst.
  11. There are 12 people on board of which one is of Palestine descent. The flotilla was operated by pro-Palestine Freedom Flotilla. Group include a doctor and a journalist. Naive and never deal with Arab culture?
  12. I wouldn't define her as a multi millionaire if she is known to be worth between $1-2 million and still stay in her mum's modest home and own no real estate properties. When she have assets worth several million dollars, you can come back and decry her as a multi-millionaire. She does donate most of her earnings.
  13. Then people were fooled but now the same people has buyers remorse.
  14. To be fair, you should include the other half of the article. She consistently donated the majority of her earnings to environental and humanitarian causes. For instance, she donated a million pound from her Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity to many prganizations.
  15. Majority in polls disapprove of Trump's mess in handling the protests. Looks like a timely boost for the Dems at the expense of Trump.
  16. Not a good read for Israel to stop an aid boat of peaceful young people.
  17. Jan 6 was an insurrection according to the Colorado Supreme Court. LA was a peaceful protest. Criminal opportunists took advantage and should be arrested. The military intervention has aggravated the peaceful nature of the protest.
  18. I wouldn't take serious a rebrand Rasmussen poll which have often been questioned for its methodology. A plurality of Americans don't approve of the Trump administration's deployment of the National Guard and Marines in response to Los Angeles protests, the latest YouGov polling shows.
  19. Undocumented workers are processed at the border check points. Illegals are those who bypassed (eg sneaked in) the border check points and not processed. Undocumented have basic rights and due process. Not Illegals and when caught are deported without the need for due process.
  20. From what I read, it is undocumented not illegal labourers. Big difference.
  21. If that it your argument, it should include Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Beside 9/11, Saudi export Wahhabism, a strict strain of Islam that has been blamed for fueling extremism around the world. Trump called Saudi Arabia "the world's biggest founder of terrorism"in 2011. Qatar has been accused of state-sponsored terrorism. It is all performative politics and doing what best for himself.
  22. I was refering to the general perception of covid and its infuences on both sides. If you refering to zoonotic connection, there are key gaps to confirmed the bridge specie. However the zoonotic spillover via wildlife is strongly supported by genetic ties to bat viruses, market-linked outbreaks and historical precedents (SARs). I agree that the questions remained.
  23. You don't think that federal protection for former staff members are determined by the level of threats they face?
  24. I agree with you that there are those whose beliefs were aligned with evidence-based practices. Factors that inluenced their beliefs are based on their access to reliable information, trust in institutions, individual risk perceptions. Others embraced more conspiractory theories influenced by their mistrust in the institutions and authority and also the deluge of non scientific misinformation from right-leaning media.
  25. Red states had higher COVID infection rates and deaths compared to blue states. They implemented fewer political decision to mitigate the pandemic, lower or no vaccination and most of the folks were old and obese. Not mass murder but mass suicide and obediently listen to their dear leader crap.
