I didn't upgrade yet ... still with a prescott 3.2 running @ 3.8, I'am quite impress by the speed of some machine I have seen,

but beside the fact that you can OC these chips easily, even on air cooling, for me, the best improvement is the advance in memory chips, very soon some ddr2 @ 1333mhz ...

the future arrives faster that we can think

the work around is well known, it works on XP as well, the activation of XP changed too,

you need to validate before to be able to log in

just reboot in safe mode and patch what has to be patched

only the licence is nearly enough with some good Thai talk, you should go through without problem ... in a car

walking is another story, passport only (with the danger to loose it ...)

I set it up on a seperate disk, and will soon will format this disk ...

XP well configured works twice better and faster

it looks to me that vista without aero is useless, and to use aero better have a big screen, 22" at least ...

pentium core2duo, pci express 16x with at least a card with 512mb of ram, a 8800 from nvidia would be the perfect match,

except the price of this card(directX 10 compatible) ...

if you want a new com running vista with all features, get the ultimate version ...

and a fast and prerforming rig, no budget cut for this

AVG will stop it's free version in january 2007, so for free AV, go for Avast, and if you want to pay a bit to be sure to be well protected, take Bitdefender, not the suite, the home edition antivirus only

I am living in Cha Am and use Maxnet TT&T on a 512/256 broadband connection. When I use the "thaivisa" broadband speed test. My downloads are at an acceptable level of approx 300 to 400 kbs, but my uploads are capped at 30 kbs.

I have complained to TT&T with the response.. "we will look into it"...I have complained to the local shop with the explanation being that the 256 kbs upload speed is for local only not international.

If I upgrade to a higher plan or another ISP.... how can I be assured that what they advertise is what they deliver?

Ahh .. It was an external enclosure, I missed that.

Yes open the enclosure up and check the power connector. Also plug it directly into another computer via IDE or SATA connector and listen if the drive spins up (hold it in your hand as the PC boots).

I tried that with no luck. Same bad checksum message. The only thing that shows on my monitor is the bios file was found and the installing, then restart. I cannot get to any settings and it will not boot off a floppy. Trying to boot off the floppy gives a message that says bios file not found.

Try to locate the mainboard battery. Take it out en put it in again. Start up your computer and enter the bios. Check if all settings are okay depending on your hardware. If not, change the settings to the correct configuration. Restart.

Dont use usenext. Use Giganews or Easynews with news leecher.

Set newsleecher to make 8 connections to the server. on a 2mb adsl connection with this setup u will get 220kb/sec easy. Currently on a 1mb connetion in hotel and getting 118 kb/sec.

The content of usenet with regard to games/movies/tv/music/apps is about 100 times that of any p2p content.

check out newzbin.com for an example click more on the left menu and u will see the subsections.

Believe me there is no better way to get content / speed than usenet (Note usenet not USENEXT).

Everything on the P2P networks originates from usenet.

Usenet has been around since the dawn of the internet it is not a new thing.

Usenext is a just a usenet provider in disguise (An expensive, Slow, Limited Retention) one at that.

There are far better usenet providers for less money with faster download speeds, better retention.

For example 2 of the leading ones are www.easynews.com and www.giganews.com.

Team one of those up with a NZB provider such as newzbin and Newsleecher program. You have the ultimate downloading facility full stop.

No need for header download with NZB files. And for a quick search u could use newsleecher's supersearch faclilty but better go with a NZB database provider.

Where do you think all the stuff on P2P orignates from...............usenet.

Was just browsing the net for something and got to some page by UseNext. According to thier web page its the next generation for downloading. Far superior to Torrents. any information on this stuff??? or experience of using it?

I stumbled over UseNext as well and almost signed up because their statements were promising.

concerning speed, you can't dream faster, when I get online to download, I reached the max, some 850kb/s (medium 600kb/s)

beside, emule and most of p2p progs are turning commercial, and p2p is dying ...

some other like astraweb offer for a 30$ an an ammount of 90 gb of download without time limit, the only bad side, it's using the traditional newsgroup stuff,you nedd to download the headers first and then get all the parts of the file, get them all, join them, and then uncompress them.

useneXt is different it does it for you, and the hasle to join, uncompress is done by the prog, nice and great, not free, but for 10€/month having 20gb to download is fine

go for it, there is a trial period, 3gb for free, download small files and see by yourself

for me, no looking back to any other way

I tried to use Firefox 2.0 for my secure internet banking and it doesn't work. When I try it, it says it needs a plugin and tries to install it but fails and says I need to do it manually. I suppose I could spend the time to try to figure out how to manually install it, if it's possible, but I simply load IE6 when I need to do internet banking which has always worked fine for me.
