  2. The 6.5.714 version of Zone Alarm Pro, issued a few days ago creates a mismatch between the .mbx and .toc files of the Eudora mail boxes.

Eudora will ask to rebuild the mail boxes every time it is restarted.

Apparently the problem is cured in the very latest Zone Alarm Pro 6.5.722 which can be downloaded from their site.

I have just installed the update, but have yet to fully test.

  3. No need to post virus warnings. Everybody has (should have) anti virus software installed - and if they don't they sure as **** don't read anti virus warnings either. It's just ends up as spam.
Aside from that, considering the speed at which a virus or worm spreads it makes no sense to post a virus warning 4 months after the virus or worm first appeared.

    Maestro

This file archives in .ZIP contains a file in not roguish .DLL as well as a file in .EXE. If this file is run, the virus copies in the file Data application of the profile of the user under the name hidn.exe, also copy there a rootkit m_hook.sys (Hacktool. Rootkit) to try to avoid being detected by antiviruses, modify the registry to run in every starting up of the computer, then send automatically at the addresses appearing in the Windows address book and the different files via its own SMTP engine. The virus tries then to download and to run a file since a list of remote Web sites, to deactivate the most popular software of safety(security), then it provokes the display of a false error message ("Error").

    so, be cautious :o

  5. I'm a fan of the FlashBlock extension. Keeps from downloading flash content unless you "click to play." Great way to get rid of bandwidth hogging flash ads. I also find myself looking for another source of information if I have to put up with a bad "Flash-Navigated" website.

If you are really in a trusting mood, this link will install it for you.

That won't solve the root problem, but should keep you from crashing as often. Maybe you can determine if it is a particular SWF that is causing the problem.

Nice one fella, thats reduced it a lot, still does it though.

Just a thought, do I need both Shockwave and FlashPlayer, could I not just get rid of Flash, I'm presuming that Shock will do the same jobs....?

Is that a dumb idea...........? :D

    redrus

    hi'

shock is a plug in, can't do without!

and for flash did you install the latest version, the 8 one?

and what about your java in all this? do you have the latest 1.05.06?

the idea to resart for scratch isn't bad :o

save bookmarks and perform the uninstall, delete all file and folder in program files and doc and settings and find the key in the registry to delete it as well.

reboot, and reinstall, with flashplayer and jre_1_0_5_06.

    give news :D

  6. hi'

never had any problem with it, just run Firetune to set it up without any risk to make a silly mistake and then check how many extensions you have that you don't use ...

could be smart to unsintall it, save bookmarks before ... )

they are in docs and settings/app data/firefox or mozilla{depends which one you use}/profile/abcdef1234/bookmarks.html :o

once uninstall, delete all program files folder and doca nd setting as well.

reinstall, cleanly, and add only the extensions that you use :D

perso, I have only one : noscript.... enough :D

  7. any dsl through an ethernet cable should work. You do not need the driver as most modern linux distros have enough stuff on board to cope with this.

wireless is another story, but today also works on most computers.

most config is done in browser right?

I am also installing (vector)linux on my laptop. but I keep my xp running on it also until all is working. vector does not even see my ethernet card... but i know it can work... Good luck

    hi'

did you check that it was declared as in use in your network connections?

may be you just need to configure it and restart X ...

    just my 2cts here :o

    francois

  8. hi'

rishi, you can't imagine the "so called" quality cd are in for most of them :o

first, burn on "VERY" good quality cd, verbatim comes to mind, and burn the cd'sas slow as possible, iso image often have burning mistakes if burned too fast :D [never more than 24x]

just my 2cts worth in here :D

  9. hi'

    Suse, definitly Suse :o

disapointed by all the others, sometime for a detail, but with Suse, no detail left behind... this is Linux today!

why do you think that Linus (creator of linux) use Suse Linux?

    francois

  10. hi'

since file sharing has to be enable, some ports are vulnerable,

so install it connect it and then go to Gypson site shields up to check :D

and it goes through any firewall, secured they say ... :o

can someone do it and give result, that would be nice :D

    here ; https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

if it says stealth, I would eventualy join to play some from time to time,

I'm in race simulation too :D like you penzman :D how is momo, I have the formula EX

    force feedback only ...

    thanks

    francois

  11. hi'

first of all, a writter has to be the master and if there is a reader set it as slave.

this problem was common under win98, but with winXP sp2 :o

    never get ...

try to change these settings and jumpers on both devices.

you may have to swap slot for both as the cable will be missplaced.

    francois

  12. hi'

be careful if choose agp, 2 brands, the 2,4x and the 4,8x, they don't use the same voltage...

anyway, if you plan for a PCI express you'll have to change the MB and most of things attached to it, like ram :o

I'll second the nvidia 7600gt pci express, 256 mb :D

    francois

  13. hi'

all so called security solution for password safe etc ... are not as secure as you may say!

most of them have a turn around already, cracked or copied ...

just follow my advice, don't do private in non private!

ask a friend, you may use your laptop for this :o

and be sure that his home network is safe!

    francois

  14. hi'

    rule of thumb!

NEVER DO PRIVATE THINGS IN AN INTERNET CAFE !!

you can't be sure of :

    who's the admin.

    who does the maintenance.

    how honnest they are.

they can sell infos to others, to avoid problems.

ask to a friend to borrow his com for a few minutes and then clean the cache

    and reboot the machine :o
