  1. The Hispanic comment was simply an example. 330 million in the US vs. 70 million or so here. I'm sure the ratio works out. Do you have a positive contribution to make? I'm taking a poll!

Expats are here for many years and some new by days due to marriage, work and or investment. All knowing full well what they were getting into I trust with the politics, corruption, economy, red shirt & yellow shirt. Its all out there for the reading and research prior to a faranges move here. The unmitigated Gaul of the OP to presume that anyone would move to another country and then want to change it????? How did you like it when the Lords Prayer was removed from Schools because of new arrivals of different religions didn't like it in your country or to be told the world Christmas was not politically correct anymore.

  2. I don't think anything needs to be changed. If you don't like the place warts and all you know where the airport is.

I agree 100%. Expats are here for many years and some new by days due to marriage, work and or investment. 3. I would have preferred not knowing any of this and would have went with Hi and replied Hi back with a smile. My readings here on this form to date suggest to me a form of total disrespect for the people whose country has accepted us into it. The talking down about our hosts is impossible for me to fathom. Makes me wonder why you all left the comfort of your own countries. Oh yeah the 30 to 1 monetary ratio that is relative to the daily living in your homelands. Show some respect and be the bigger person if you get disrespected smile and ingnor.

  4. There seems to be trend on Thai Visa Forum that the victim is at fault. This must be posted by farangs who do not feel good about themselves. Perhaps they are alcoholics or are here for sex tourism. Perhaps they feel bad about themselves because they could not find work in their home countries. At any rate they are transferring the bad feelings they have about themselves to others.

PLEASE STOP BECAUSE YOUR CRITICISM IS NOT CONSTRUCTIVE.

In this case one could say

Wear brighter clothing or have a flashing red -light as a precaution.

Insist at the hospital to have sufficient exams made - if necessary lay down and scream as if in pain.

While the victims were being examined you could have recruited a Thai speaking friend who knows English and gone to the police station.

It is unlikely that I would have had the presence of mind to do any of these things because I was the victim in a motorbike accident. I avoided sufficient examinations partly because I was too stunned to realise I had been unconscious. Luckily there was nothing seriously wrong and a very good doctor at a private clinic cured all my small problems arising from this accident.

Although the motorbike that collided with mine came from a side street without looking the police said it was my fault because I was going too fast. I was not because I know I was going about 40 km/hr and there were no skid marks and when I came to I was still on the motorbike. Thankfully i had knocked the offending parties fender off and caused him to go to ground. He was sufficiently good to come and check on my condition but he was so dumb not to look if any traffic was coming. Many side streets do not have stop signs and even if they do how many times have you seen someone actually stop at one ?

You're really clueless about this country. The old & longtime saying here, many ways very true in how assuring it is to know how little rights you have here. Which is close to none unless your very rich. Is "if the Farang (white foreigner) wasn't there, it would never have happened." You can be walking down the street & get robbed...you know where they work, can identify their face...means nothing unless you want to pay for the investigation or better yet make it viral (probably get banned from the country for such an action as well) & the publicly will force a free investigation. Foreigners here are barely guests, barely tolerated unless your generating large sums of money for them - actively that it, not as a tourist, business owner (owners of bars, restaurants, small remote hotels or hostels) or retiree.

Grow a brain or go home back to your narrow minded life.

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

WOW To harsh even for anyone using this form. I was deleted previously for simply using CAP letters and the above is allowed??? Come come moderators where are you now?????

  5. I am not in Bangkok but in Samui, every night when I am out on my motorbike I am scared to death (for them) when I see people walking peacefully alongside the main road, maybe on the left side of the line, yes, but also on the left side of the road that is to say with cars and motorbike coming full speed in their back. xsick.gif.pagespeed.ic.tVTSNn-2vr.png

Its seems to me they are playing with they lives, however most of them are holidays maker, walking relax, sometimes a few kilometers from one place to another totally zen. As you said in your story, the man was probably drunk, how many like him on Thai roads, too much for sure. Never never would I walk alongside any Thai road at night time, or yes but like an Indian on the path of war, so sometime I thought I was a bit paranoiac...reading your story I know I am not. Anyhow best wishes for your girl friend, it could have been much worst.

    This is Thailand TIT

  6. In my observation, Thai people are generally selfish, so look after number one, so, as is often said "its our country", and can only be owned by thais,(generally) if you allow naturalisation, where is the money in that ? Nothing to be earned from it, no more visa money etc.

It would be interesting to know the actual amount of money earned every year from retirees paying for annual visa and re-entry permits. To say nothing of the loss of money to neighbouring countries for those that have to do 20 minute border crossings every 90 days etc.

As said before, we are tolerated nothing more. If we didnt supply a source of income then it would change for the worse rapidly in my opinion.

Don't know how many countries are similiar to Canada's policy of shutting down Gov't pensions if you remain outside of the country more than 6 months or if you advise the Gov't you will be residing in Thailand they quickly grab 40% claw back on the pensions. Honesty=40% clawback deceit= 100% pension loss.

  7. Marry the girl I met on dateinasia.com a year before.

would you be willing to share more of how that was, from beginning to present, without personal details?

It is 5 years now and she is a wild one to say the least. She rages she loves she cares she works shes smart and she humors me to death. She did her 3 years residency now and almost a year in waiting for citizenship so she can have a Canadian passport and we can travel together equally. We seem to be back and forth Thailand and Canada so much as she has started importing and exporting as the Thais in Canada need and the people wanting name brands in Thailand. Name brands in Canada is a hard find as everything is tagged made in China or Asian locales. Yes the Name Brands. Go figure.

I hesitate to go into detail here again as some class A hole on here insulted me so badly for marrying a young Thai who was university educated, land/property/business owner

  8. The maximum amount you can carry to Thailand without reporting is $20,000 USD. I would stay under that for practical reasons. I do think the the US and Canada are the last holdouts on the $10,000 limit. Not for the trafficking reasons they claim but for control.

There is no procedure for that amount in Thailand. You only have to report if it is over the $20,000.

Just buy as many Maple Leaf ounces of Canada's 999 fine gold that you want money for in Thailand. Yes the ounce price bounces up and down but that happens so often that you might watch prevailing rates to catch a price drop which usually is followed by a price jump up. Of course declare them as it is a tiny neat way to carry large sums now that large denomination currency in Canada seems non existant. I recall $1000. pink ones in the 70's and took 250 of them in two pants pockets to France. No problem.

  9. Not all Thai women are the same .

My wife is head teacher of a school , 53yrs , very bossy and argumentative , I do most of the looking after .

My wife's face has aged a little in the 10yrs we've been together , but I still find her the most attractive and pretty woman .

She is 5'5" tall and very slender , though quite plump , she has the most beautiful body I ever saw , perfectly shaped like a teenager ,

with very smooth evenly cafè au lait skin all over , the prettiest bottom I ever saw .

I see other girls/women and speculate that they may be the same . I find Thai oriental features very attractive .

very smooth evenly cafè au lait skin all over , Why do they say they are black when their skin is copper or beige. It really P'O's me when my wife comes off with that crap. I actually brought it up with our Doctor saying my wife wanted to become white like Michael Jackson and much to my shock the Doctor gave my wife two dermatologists names.

  10. I guess men with Thai wives or girlfriends wishing to go under the knife have not reinforced their beauty that attracted them to them in the first place. My Thai wife wanted a nose job and braces on her teeth but when I kept telling her I married her for her beautiful smile and pretty nose she soon got over changing anything even though she could well afford the cost.

  11. I was unaware that there is a vaccine to stop you getting it. But I did suffer from it a few years ago now and had it on my face.

It will either go from your ear and down you face, or from your ear up your face.

The one that goes down your face will give you a lot of pain, but is the one that goes up your face that is most dangerous.

If you get the one that goes up your face, you have the chance of it getting into your eyes and the worst scenario is that you can get encephalitis and that is life threatening.

It took about a month or so of tablets to clear it up and have never suffered again. I have no idea of why I got it, but can tell you it was one of the most painful ilnesses I have had in my life.

THIS WAS NOT SHINGLES. TRY AGAIN.
