  1. I got error after error, but somehow got my new password. But I cannot login as the Captcha is not showing on the page. Blank. Will try later again.
  2. In most countries, you will need a valid license before you are allowed to rent a motorbike. So fine the rental shops as well. I wonder who owns them, and at what 'rate' they are allowed to rent out bikes to unlicensed foreigners. With taxi prices what they are on Phuket, I can understand that it's a lot easier to rent a motorbike.
  3. For 5 to 6 millioen Baht, you can buy a very decent condo in Rawai Phuket. For 15k, you could rent it. Peanuts internationally seen. Food is cheap, weather is great, need your bike or aircon fixed, no problem. Sign me up. I will retire half of the time here, the other half in Europe. 12 more years, and its my turn. Stay fit and enjoy Thailand. The country, with all its flaws, still offers a superb lifestyle unrivaled with many other places (within your budgets) That is, if you dont turn to the darkside (alcoholism).
  4. Great place to live in the monsoon season, and great place to rent out your condo in the high season. A win win.We love Phuket.
  5. Quite some government hospitals I've been to (Chiang Rai for example) have a rather medieval feeling to them with stretchers with dying people in the hallways, and whole families camping in tents outside, waiting for the bad news moment. This is just my own observation, mind you. Healthcare is only topnotch here, if you can afford it. How about the Burmese labourers in Samut Sakon, who had Covid? Barbed wired factories.
  6. Let's face it, Thailand is absolutely stunning. Just a shame you can't see most of it because of pm 2.5 issues 'sponsored' by sugarcane farmers. Rich people prefer to live in Singapore (25% of its population is $millionaire) and hop on a flight to see Phuket or Krabi for a 7 day visit. Flight is just over an hour. Now compare Marina Bay with the Sukhumvit, lol.
  7. For me it's all about the COE, a potential point of failure that I cannot control. Scrap the COE and I will spend Christmas in Europe.
  8. Continue........ alcohol drinkers, people who eat too much sugar and salt, no helmet or seatbelt policies, special policies for depressed or suicidal people? Insurance discounts for those that shop at Decathlon? Your statement, or opinion, reeks to uneducated bias.
  9. You can already come to Thailand without quarantine. You only need a COE, test before flight, 3 pe-booked tests upon arrival, insurance up until your visa/extension date and a pre-booked SHA+ hotel. Piece of cake, as 1 million people are expected to visit Phuket thus high season . WI wonder if the Thai Consulates can issue that many COE's without problems. How about the millions of tests needed on Phuket alone?
  10. is this real news? Find this hard to believe to be honest.
  11. Assume 1 container ship carries 5,000 containers, so how many trains or trucks would it take to move these containers from Chumpon to Ranong using this 'landbridge'? How about a supertanker? The sheer capacity of these tankers is enormous. Even if a pipeline is used, it would take 1 to 2 days to discharge, transport and refill a ship on the other side. That's just 1 ship.
  12. Take the mis-match (sic) combo and face internatiinal travel restrictions. or don't take the the shots and face domestic restrictions. What a dilemna! I searched for research findings on the Sino/AZ mix, and found..... nothing. I am not willing to be a guinee pig, so better wait a couple of months.
  13. The Sinovac/AZ combo is also a shot in the dark and only done in Thailand. I, reluctantly asked for Sino/Sino, was was denied. Only the Sino/AZ (locally produced!) is possible at this moment. I kindly refused (for now).
  14. With a certain firms dominance in food, agriculture, transportation and god knows which sector , more a trickle up effect I'm afraid.
  15. Hello, does anyone know where and how I could get vaccinated in Phang Nga province. It seems impossible to go to Phuket or Bangkok at this moment with interprovincial borders closed. I heard that once you leave Phang Nga, it's not so easy to come back. So did any of you get lucky and get vaccinated in Phang Nga itself?
  16. Wow, I am now a second rate citizen as I have not been able to get properly vaccinated. Now we are facing a tough choice: meeting local standards and not being able to travel abroad (eg Sinovac and locally produced AZ), or wait a bit for Pfizer or Moderna and not allowed to go to restos (and probably domestic transportation) in Thailand.
  17. My bank cancelled my credit card over a similar issue. Alsi a company located in Thailand. Took a month to have a new one sent to Thailand. Very annoying.
  18. Yes, it is, need a calendar? I actually found it today at the market. Quite relaxing instead of afternoon tea. Prices have gone up significantly the last month. Local rubber farmers are complaining about those city folks trying to get their hands on their cup of coffee.
  19. So, where can buy these leaves starting August 24th? I don't see it at the markets.
