Would you pay THB25K to watch Liverpool v United in a friendly?
SoilSpoil replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Went there many years ago to see Liverpool against Thailand, and it was impossible to get a taxi back in the pouring rain. We had to walk for miles, all the way to Srinakarin to get a cab. Never again, not free, not for 5k. -
If my credit card was blocked, cant change my currency, cant use Swift transfers and am without money, I would also steal my food. Look how skinny he is, you can see his ribs. If he is not Ukrainian or Russian, lock him up.

Russian planes are grounded. The Russians lease their airplanes and refuse to pay the lease as reaction to the sanctions. The moment an Areoflop plane lands in Thailand it will be seized by the owners. The Russians in Thailand are stuck. Maybe Thai Airways sees an opportunity to fly them back at highly inflated prices.

No way! I have 2 daughters, quite pretty if I may say so, and if they ever decide to marry a Thai guy, his family will pay the jackpot. I cannot own land here, need yearly visa extensions, cannot get a proper job, was prohibited to enter certain restaurants during the 1st Covid wave and also have to pay a multiple of the local price at National Parks. Pay up, or I'll send them to University in Italy, Spain or Japan. They will for sure fall in love there. Payback time.

How many student activists are in jail at the moment? -
I guess (guess!!!) that 90% of the Russians couldnt afford to spend the winter in Thailand. Only those working for and with links to oil criminals or the Kremlincan. Russia should send planes to get them out. If not, let them eat white rice and stay in a fan cooled no frills room. Let them watch Al Jazeera 24/7, maybe the only objective news channel at the moment and tell the people in their motherland what's going on.

Would you agree now could be the time to buy bricks and mortar again?

If you have a healthy liquidity, buy some land and rent the house you live in. That's what we do. Rent-to-price ratio is ridiculously low. We live in a nice house and will move to another in a couple of years without having to worry about maintenance. Fantastic. -
Thai government planning to adjust Covid-19 daily reports
SoilSpoil replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I can imagine that a lot of people are afraid to talk about the (positive) results of their ATK tests, and prefer to stay home. It's pretty quiet where I live. -

Yes, I have the same situation. My neigbhour's kid has a teacher from Newcastle and nobody understands him. I tried to talk to him, but didn't fare much better. -

My first meal in Thailand, 20 years ago on KS road, which took me an hour and a bucket of sweat to finish. The waitress told me it was spicy, but what did I know about spicy food. -
Bloomberg lists Hua Hin as a must visit destination in 2022

I love Hua Hin, and then especially the bypass, on my way to the beautiful beaches of the Andaman. -
Education Ministry Postpones Children’s Day Event

A once very famous Carlos said: 'let the children play', and not visit militairy bases. What we see in our Moo Ban is that most children stay indoors and probably play video games. Every evening there used to be at least 20 to 30 kids playing outside. My kids, always outside, are now cycling and skating alone. Sad to see the Covid having such an enormous effect on the behavior of the younger ones. -
Beaches in Prachuap Khiri Khan the cleanest in Thailand
SoilSpoil replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Ban Krut is lovely, and we visited it many times in the past. The last time was about 2 years ago and we will never return. The amount of plastic on the beach, and on the beach road was bizar. Such a shame. Purest seawater is not the same as cleanest beach, so the title is misleading. -

Air pollution reaches ‘unhealthy’ levels in Bangkok
SoilSpoil replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Sugarcane season is upon us. And before we read the usual drivel about cars and construction dust, which does contribute only a bit, it's half the country that has bad air. To keep agro products cheap, especially for export, farmers are forced to burn their fields. Just check the Nasa firemaps. It's the sugar craving country to the north that is the main culprit. Read and inform yourself how companies from a big country to the north lease and pollute the lands in Cambodia.
