  1. I cannot believe that half of British people want to STAY in the eu...

We were never given the choice to enter the old common market..The traitor Heath [probably blackmailed] put Britain in for one trial year.

We were then asked to vote to STAY in or leave.

How could we now have expected our old markets to give us the same conditions if we now [after one year of telling them to 'p*** off and find another buyer for their produce.]wanted to trade again.

Many ,like me, did not bother to vote to stay but would have rushed to say no to JOINING.

We have now meekly given all of our power of government to faceless gnomes in Brussells..

How can 50% of British people want this to continue?

  2. England has the best answer to beach chairs..You can hire a deck chair for a pile of chairs.but after you have used it the vendor must collect it or anyone can use for free.

The beach is left empty of chairs and only chairs with people sitting in the are on the beach..Anyone can take their own beach furniture.

No umbrellas on English beaches for hire so I guess the same could be done here with them.

  3. Why not arrange direct debit payment from a local bank account (although perhaps too late it this is immediate travel). Have been paying this way for decades and no extra charges/work/or any mistakes.

Is there a neighbor that can take care of it - or a maid? Do not believe electric remains long if not paid - but have never faced that so not sure of day count.

But they might be willing to put money into your account and use that for payment if you contact them.

I tried to set that up about a year ago. Spent a whole morning at PEA Banglamung and half the afternoon. Took a Thai speaker with me, eventually gave up. Beaurocracy gone mad.

The problem, as I understand it, was because my house Tabian Baan(company name) did not correspond with the previous owner's Thai wife's name and they wanted copies of her ID card and all sorts. I had no idea how to find her so we just left it

My electricity is still in the name of the last ownere.I went to the company and asked if I could still pay from my bank account.

No problem. The bill is sent to my name at my address although still in the name of the previous owner [11 years]

  4. I always use "Dave's"

He is on top of "Indian by Nature" restaurant, on Thepraja.

Large selections of material. And he knows his stuff, tell him what you need and he will recommend the correct material ...

    Good Luck !

    luudee

    Thanks for the tip Luudee.

I guessed some would be wag would want to see its name in print .

  5. A "distraction" for other motorists? - can't see that distracting them from texting, phoning, admiring themselves in their rear view mirrors or generally behaving as if they are the only road users out that day!

How about drivers windscreens festooned with lucky amulets, flowers, teddy bears, and that's before the DVD screens.?

Regarding those wacky wind-up keys, the Taste Police should be filing separate charges.

Yes 'front screen transfers, stickers, ribbons, soaps, amulets and other ornaments make 'blind spots' for the driver.A bigger concern.

I once hit a cyclist in London in the dark as his front light was obstructed merely because his speed matched my speed when approaching a junction [he was on the main road.]and his front light was obscured by my windshield frame.

Fortunately because i was driving very slowly the only damage was slight to his front wheel.

  6. Was recommended O.Tailor near Tukcom.

Oredered 2 pairs of shorts and took a pair for them to copy. 1000 b x2.

The workmanship was good but the material for both is rubbish.I washed before I wore and there is no visible crease. The material is very heavy and collects any fluff in the machine which is almost impossible to remove.

In fairness they showed me some materials to choose from [small squares] but I would expect any decent tailor to know his cloth...I am not an expert and in London I would trust my tailor not to have blanket cloth in stock.

These will Never hold a crease for more than half a day.

Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

  7. Surely if you make the report online and its accepted in the "pending" stage. You have done your part and its up to immigration to complete the process. If it takes the 1 month or more for them to do it or not all its not your fault. I dont see how you could be fined or blamed for immigration not doing their job.

    Try telling that to immigration.

  8. plenty going on during my stroll today. i did not get any pics so i don't count them in my running total

at just after 14.00 hrs by 13/4 the ski crew were in discussions with 2 indians with a city hall guy on scene.

same time 120 mtrs north by pattaya bay walk another city hall guy and another 2 indians in another debate

passing view talay 6 a few mins later a ski guy on a motorcy rolls up and starts to share out 1000 bht notes (minimum 10) among 3 other ski guys all smiling and laughing..................i have no proof where it came from but the most likely suspect is a jet ski payoff being divied up

Strider good to see you over here. Didn't even realise you were on TV

no tv for me thanks.................i favour stealth mode it's safer

    Sure..Keep safe Strider.

  10. All the people I know who rent condos /apartments pay high electricity bills where the landlord uses his own meters.

My friend in Bkk [Thai girl] who lives in an apartment where there are only Thais also pays 15 baht a unit.

Always ask the price per unit if renting property.

When I first came to BKK 21 years ago I was given a corner rental unit with a lot of sun...

Very high electricity bills.I stayed onlt the one month. after my friend told me to check the cost

which was app 3 times the government rate.

  11. Sorry but I have little sympathy for the three girls, who due to a "mix up" overstayed by 7 days, what "mix up" would that be then, difficulty with understanding the dates on the arrival card?

They were going on to Malaysia to continue their summer holidays, apparently with virtually no cash or working ATM cards, were they planning on busking then?

Seems they are just 3 scatter brains who have learnt a valuable lesson, pay attention and take responsibility for your own actions.

The lesson they have learned [probably know it off by heart] is that if you sit around bawling your eyes out long enough some mug [sorry, couple] will come to your aid.

  12. Thanks Guys.

I do NOT want a semi gloss [or any gloss] on my ceiling .

I used 4 seasons 10 years ago .It is still good [no smoking in the house].

I hope to paint for the last time this time.

I think I will go for the TOA premium this time.

    Thanks again.4.Real.

  13. I want to repaint my large ceiling.

I have seen many brands but one is 2-3 times moere expensive than the rest.

    Dulux supashield Duraclean .

    100% pure acryllic.

Is it worth while paying this extra for paint?

I am happy here and have no plans to leave.

    Durashield is 3,3150.baht in Homepro.

Thanks ,in advance for any response.

  14. Sadly this happens all over the world where there are lots of people and too much drinking. It disgusts me whenever I see something like this, as violence is so unnecessary and just proves how ugly human beings can be. Often cowardly too. Never impressive to see what we consider to be adults degenerating to this. It is the same in Nana Soi 4 now, where you could walk peacefully up the road. Now all the parasitical types have all taken over the bars, the old adventurer type owners long since gone and now left with a street full of ugly people....tacky bars, greedy street vendors, ....massive change from twenty years ago, when it was a much safer place and more based on fun.... Sukhumvit is at night is just awash with Nigerian drug dealers, unattractive Eastern block hookers, the greedy who flock like flies to a carcass and the nice, generous peaceful spirit of the Thai's left somewhere in the gutter......sad to see, but it is what happens when commercialism, greed and mass tourism takes over, and the authorities do nothing to curb it...people wreck things...what was just fun becomes ugly......reminds me of the cities now back in UK, at bar closing time on a Friday night.....sadly this is now happening in many areas where once tourists felt safe...you have to be careful at night now and be aware there are some horrible people out there of all nationalities and do not think everyone who smiles is nice because they are not. This sort of thing could happen to any one at night and I have seen it too many times. The fun has long since left the building

I remember then. When The old Thermai was a place to go after the bars had closed .No hastle you could sit with a coca cola for a couple of hours. The freelancing girls were no problem and did not bother you if you only wanted to sit for a while.

The entrance to the front of Thermae was a public toilet..you just walked to the back and another door took yo into Thermaes.

    Always entertaining there after 1.am,

  15. Burglers: i not care if they are Thai, or British, Russian or Cambodian

they have to face court and have to get punished they never forget in their life!

(we got our house borken up 2 times: but the police did nothing even finding fingerprints on the walls: now i not involve police in any case as its wasting if time)

    I have had 2 burglaries.

The last time I was on my computer facing the window/wall.playing music and writing.

When I got up to make coffee I found that they [must have been 2] walked in through my open back door and quietly ransacked my bedroom. One must have been standing behind me with a knife or gun in case I turned around when they were in the house.

I have no sense of smell so I did not smell them smoking although there were 2 cigarette ends on my bedroom floor. That was lucky for me.I do not smoke.

They took my wallet but left the wallet minus only 4000 baht cash in my garden.

I did not bother to call the police as the last time was a waste of my time.

I now have a sensor that rings should anything pass through my back door when it is open.plus alarms and lights.

  16. Don't care for integration one bit. Neither necessary nor desired. Provided new arrivals agree to hold to the laws of the (new) land (and materially do so) what else they do is up to them. If their religious scruples dictate otherwise then that's just tough. Don't like a law? Well, there are secular democratic mechanism to get them changed (in secular democracies). Other avenues - no chance, nick off.

In England the 2 mafor parties each have roughly 95% of lifetime voters.

When there are enough immigrants or people with allegiance to foreign lands to sway the vote[there are now] democracy is finished and the minority will choose who runs the country.

  17. I saw that on TV yesterday. What the police spokeman explained was that the house was in the wife name. She used it as collateral for a loan she couldn't pay back. They went to court, the wife lost and the house was repossessed. Case closed. Unfortunetly a very common story.

Surely there are lawas relating to the amount of interest to repay on any loan..

65 million for 600,0000 seeems a bit steep.
