If updating the video driver and the sound driver doesn't solve the hum and BSOD, I'd say that you have a hardware problem. If you are in Bangkok, take it to one of the shops in Phantip. There are many to choose from.
Updated sound and video drivers. No help. Infact I updated all the drivers I thought could even possibly have something to do with it.
I suspected hardware anyhow as it has been doing it since new. I live in BFE Isan so it will be a while before I can get it to a reputable shop.
Warning Pan - Thip will try make a buck of anything, I even think they sell factory seconds, whoever sold the laptop sold you a faulty laptop, defiantly a sound/video fault,
I bought it new in the States.
I used to live in the states, they have a 3 year warranty on most laptops if you pay a fee, one year is free. HP laptop are made in Asia and shipped to the states, same/same I would never buy a HP again. I had a overheating HP before it's hit and miss with their product. Can't believe you put up with it for so long.
I just bought an acer which is powerful and half the price of HP. Laptop's are becoming deposable these day's.

Also don't Buy HP again they over heat especial with the climate in Thailand!

I had a bad pint of Guinness in the dark hole of a pub never went back, if your paying 400 baht for a pint of the black stuff, twice the price of Ireland you would expect the staff to know how to pour Guinness. It was a Tourist Trap and a Fools watering HOLE!
Glad to hear this news!

Outside city hall and in a few other places you can get a bike for free to cycle around for the day, I see most of the people that use them green rental bikes ride on the sidewalk.
I personally wouldn't cycle around Bangkok streets but I do sometimes rent a bike in the parks and cruise around.

Could be to do with a fault on your sound card try updating your soundcard drivers( which is the software that runs the hardware for your speakers), easy to do if you go to HP website and go to support/software/driver download and run the updated software for sound.

Hmm Panthip plaza as I have said before is Dodgy, your motherboard should not have to be replaced after only 3 year, did you spill liquid on it?
I would recommend buying a new updated Laptop instead of paying the high price of changing the main component of your 3 year old laptop.
Which model of your Toshiba laptop do you have? Was it super expensive?
If not I would recommend buying a newer updated Laptop.

Buy one of them kitchen bread makers - not hard to made just put the ingredient in and press start - done in about an hour. I never did it but know someone that makes very tasty fresh bread with one of them.

I can understand him partially.
I lived near Suvannahbumi Airport (long before opening and for a short while during operation), in a nice village with a small lake.
Could walk with the dogs or rode bicycle around the lake without the danger, to be wiped out the next moment....
Sometimes a barbecue with friends or neighbours at the lake.
Five minutes away, we had a well maintained Park with an Aircon Gym and Pool, where people met all the day for sporting activities, like football, badminton, etc.
Lot's of smaller restaurants near the road, where you could enjoy a dinner or just a beer, without the permanent noise pollution.
Not (too many) drunken idiots and "some other kind of people" anyway.
Ohh, and I've learned cooking during my jobless period.
But I moved due to the airport noise and for business reasons.
Didn't like it from the first day, but unfortunately can't move now.
Pattaya is what it is and always was and I suspect, it won't change in the near future. (except more traffic/noise/people and everything related to that)
If you're looking for a really nice, civilized and clean place to live, Pattaya should be probably not your first choice...
(I would choose another location, if I could, definitely )
For the last time I'm talking about Thailand not just Pattaya, it's pretty much the same everywhere here.
Name me one street anywhere where there are normal people just wandering around the shops on their own or with family at their leisure, free of danger, maniac drivers, being pestered etc on wide clean even pavements...it simply doesn't exist here. In most countries you can go out your front door (on foot) go for a stroll around the local shops, the park etc spend an hour and come back...
Siam square is one, I think you need to move to Bangkok its a big city like London with the BTS/MRT, Rail, Parks, Golf clubs, Bowling, English style bars, Massive
modern Shopping centers, Zoo, Hi So American style housing estates, Aquarium, Biggest market in Asia, Modern Gyms, Bath houses, Canals and river boats,
Beautiful women, walking streets, every kind of restaurant you could name, Roof top bars, and the list goes on.....
Have you every even been to Bangkok?
I lived there for 7 years. Next.
I give up! Your just not a happy man. Move to Singapore!
