  1. Ok thanks Caldera, that's pretty much how I remembered it. Just had a call from immigration telling that my extension has been approved so they've realized their mistake. Thanks for the replies everyone.
  2. I believe the amnesty was announced in April 2020 and it ended in September 2020, can anyone confirm this or provide a link to the official announcement? Thanks.
  3. Hi, it's the Kalasin office which is one of those currently under investigation by Big Joke. I have always done everything "by the book" and to be fair the staff there have always been extremely helpful and polite, including yesterday's visit. I guess the problem arose this year because of the ongoing investigation, for the first time ever they requested a copy of every single passport page.
  4. Ok thanks, I did get a stamp for the 60 day extension and another stamp below it referring to an announcement from the government re the COVID situation. I think immigration have forgotten about the amnesty!
  5. Hi, does anyone recall or have details/dates about the amnesty mentioned in the title? I held a marriage based multi entry non o visa valid until July 1st 2020 I last entered Thailand on March 19th 2020, permission to stay given up until June 16th 2020 During this time the borders (and immigration offices?) were closed so I was unable to do the usual visa run and I believe the Thai government issued an amnesty. On September 23rd 2020 I was granted the 60 day extension for visiting my wife. I then did a couple of COVID extensions which gave me time to season the 400,000 Baht to apply for the marriage based extension, which I did without any problems in 2021 and 2022. Fast forward to Feb 2023 and I applied for the marriage extension once again which I was due to receive today (March 29th). However, it has been delayed because the immigration office was questioning the "gap" in my immigration history, ie there are no stamps in my passport to cover the time between June 16th and September 23rd 2020. Hence my question regarding the amnesty which I'm sure was in place at the time. I explained to the immigration officer about the amnesty but I wanted to check the facts with you guys.
  6. No appointment is needed at Savannakhet, if you go at the weekend I guess you will apply on Monday which is best avoided as this is one of the days the visa run companies show up in force.
  7. Just to be clear, when I say per day I mean 24 hours!
  8. Yes it is, the new parking building is on the left as you approach the terminal , I believe it costs 150 baht per day. There are also private car parks on the approach road to the airport at 100 baht per day. These were the rates in October last year.
  9. A forest park in Kalasin province, to be honest it's not abandoned but these buildings have been neglected or perhaps never finished or used.
  10. Not the best quality pics but an abandoned "grandstand" in a small rural town in Kalasin. No idea why it is here, there are no other buildings nearby.
  11. Hi, visiting Koh Samui for the first time next month, can anyone recommend a taxi service from Koh Samui airport to Lamai Beach. 3 passengers plus luggage. Thanks in advance.
  12. This bike shop is in Khon Kaen which may be more convenient. They respond quickly to messages on Facebook. I recently bought a Trek mountain bike from them was happy with their service. Naichan Bike Shop 119/3 Laonadi Road Tambol Naimuang Amphur Muang, Amphoe Muang Khon Kaen, Khon Kaen, Thailand
  13. It's around 450km. There are fishing parks in Khon Kaen and Udon Thani which are closer, but I am trying to find something more local.
  14. As mentioned by another poster best get your wife to to fill in the online form for the appointment.
  15. To the OP, this is the website to book an online appointment for Thai passport applications. You can also just walk in but that may differ depending on which office you apply at.
  16. Though about doing that but as this was the second time the status of my application remained pending (for over 10 days)I decided to do it in person. I’ll try online again for my next report in September.
  17. My online 90 day report status was still shown as pending after 10 days so I clicked the cancel button and did in person in Kalasin. All done in 5 minutes! In another thread the poster said he was required to fill in a TM47 at this office but I did not, just handed over the passport. Kalasin is easy to deal with but for whatever reason online services don't seem to be available!
  18. I think it’s the same as any dealings with immigration: office dependent. I made an appointment for a marriage extension in Kalasin and received a confirmation email but they were completely unaware of it when I arrived. It wasn’t busy so just proceeded as a “walk in”
  19. Yes, but my point is that it does not get processed.
  20. Yeah that was probably a mistake! Although that implies that online services must only be used during office hours which seems crazy but TIT! I will try the cancel option on Monday and re submit my application. I will report back.
  21. This is the problem, status of application is still pending after 6 days. My report date is June 25th so maybe something will happen next week!
