  1. Jimlackey - thank you for posting. It's a relief to know that at least some people are trying to sort out the AD mess.

I tried to PM you (click on the poster's name / picture to do so) and got a variety of exciting error messages. Apparently I may be able to try again at 14:31 today, about 7 hours ago....

Anyway, will keep trying and should get through at some point I hope. Let me know if you get pm please.

I'm planning a trip down to Bang Saray this coming week if there's a meeting or good time etc let me know I'll get lunch!

  2. Yes, JPM. There was one who disappeared in February. There was an AGM but the management company, still being the developer, AD, messed it up somehow and couldn't register the JPM. End August an EGM, where another JPM and full committee were selected.

I thought they'd got it right but there's still no JPM 45 days later, at least as far as I can tell.

The issue is I believe mostly the utter incompetence that one has to have lived in Thailand to ever beleive is even possible.

The committee status is unknown. I suppose I can drive down and hang around the block bothering innocent civilians to see if they know what is going on.....

  3. Anyone here live there?

I'm having an absolute nightmare with my condo there as there has been no juristic person since February I think.

I thought after the 2nd AGM they had solved this but there is still no-one appointed.

I cant get a straight answer out the manager, all they ever say is next month, next month, ad infinitum. My lawyer has given up on it. Says I can sue but not worth it.

I know there are some farangs there so if anyone has got any clue what's going on perhaps they could reply or PM.

Sorry for such a dull post but I'm really desperate as I cannot get the property I aready paid for or a straight answer out of anyone.

  4. I am very happy with the condo I own and live in. Bought 2 others as investment, not so much. Sold 1 and will sell the other if the developers ever manage to marshall enough brainpower to actually install a juristic. At a (small) loss.

  5. I tihnk they refitted the Tonys on Phtoisan, at least when I was there a few weeks ago it looked quite new. Decent machines etc.

I use the Tonys down soi 16 opposite Star / Sky beach (always get them mixed up) as my LT membership got transferred there, so its free. But no AC and not great machines at all. Does have a Muay Thai ring though.

Did use Centara for 3 months but 10k for that so not cheap. Big bonus is you get to use the very nice pool, gardens also. Fairtex is OK and does good classes but not too cheap either.

  6. Like there's no gambling possible now. In a legal casino there would be considerably better odds than in the home card games and dodgy dens. Several countries also restrict the natives on moral , economic grounds. If they were smart ....... They would sell licences to foreign operators and tax them, but I'm not holding my breath for that. More likely they need more kickbacks so end up with some Cambodian style baccarat brothel.

  7. How much would a decent router cost in Pattaya? The router supplied by 3BB is ADSL 2+

I bought a gigabit Zyxel NBG4615 for under 2500B from JIB in Tukcom, but it is only a router not a modem/router. So I use that with the 3BB router in bridge mode (ie just the modem part functioning). For me the 3BB modem works OK and it was OK as a router as long as only one or two devices were connected to it. However it wasn't fast enough to handle many connected devices, NAS drives etc., and I particularly needed the gigabit functionality for local data transfers. I did use it in conjunction with a very cheap gigabit switch prior to getting the Zyxel, and that setup worked OK too.

I also bought a TP-Link gigabit modem/router in the UK for just over GBP30 which I have as a spare.

If you only have one or two devices on your router and no real requirement for gigabit connections (this covers most domestic users) then the 4-port 3BB one is probably as good as any. The modem part certainly works well for me.

Not sure that your problem is actually down to the router part of your set up though.

exactly, so folks - don't be going out and buying expensive equipment when you have absolutely no need for it in a domestic environment

There is however quite a difference between wifi router performance though and paying more can often be beneficial if you live in a multi-level home with concrete floors. (that Apple Airport time-capsule does look nicesmile.png ).... however, my TP Link router is as good signal wise.
Yes I think the wireless component is the big difference, as said DSL is standard across the board but if you got the older router you might not even have N Wi-Fi. Also the tp link antennas are quite good. I swapped out my old Linksys for a tp recently, noticeable improvement.

Funny story about 3bb. I got my DSL reconnected recently after being away. Engineer comes round says straight off "oh your line in condo no good need new 1500 baht pls" I said well how do you know, you didn't test to my room. Course, they just "knew" so I got a girl to explain that I used to do this stuff myself so maybe they should just get out their metre and show me this test. And miracle! It was fixed ? I gave them 200 baht for the entertainment.
