Ting Tong Corner is still in business and going strong as usual. Drove past yesterday and it was pretty busy.....Not my favourite hang-out......soooo many other and new places around...enjoy !

And the airport is one of the nicest i have seen.
I agree and think it still is the most 'boutique' airport I've seen.
LaoPo
And its presently being extended with additional terminals, new restaurant and plenty of parking (no more ripp-off across for 20 baht)

I don't think without non immigrant visa it will be possible, sure not on Phangan. On Samui need doc cert and letter from immigration and then to transport office (near Racha ferry pier). Take a written test, eye test and reaction test as well as driving test (total 5-6 hours).
First time vaild for 1 year (green) and second one valid for 5 years (pink)

That was the smoothest landing I have ever experienced on Samui

There is a big plot cleared and empty opposite Muang Samui Resort and the massive concrete pillars already on site suggest that it will not be just another local run seafood restaurant on Coco Square

Until a couple of weeks ago no license to carry passengers.....just give 'em a call and see what they say. Plane is usally parked at USM airport (though I understand they have secured a landing strip (on water) somewhere), and sometimes they take the plane for a ride along Chaweng Beach, flying no higher than 100 meters from ground and beach.....seen it all.......

No license to carry passengers yet !!!!!!

Since your visit will be AFTER Songkran (Thai New Year), it will be less crowded than over the aforementioned festive period. However, with Easter falling in the same time frame, expect to see quiet a few tourists anyway......
-
Even in Samui Songkran will be on 13.April and you can expect to get wet already once you arrrive on the 12th. There will be as much water as ever and may be even more......
Main party day will be Thursday 13.April !!!

Father Joe's Mercy Center is an excellent idea and real eye opener....he will be very pleased.
Or get in touch with Rotary...I think there are 4/5 clubs in Bangkok.....

Guess who is the president !

Samui is doing fine guys and girls....just fine !!! and if you don't like it....go somewhere else and write a book. May be then all you "negatives" out there get the recognition you are so desperately longing for....get real !!!!!!!

Hi all I was told by somebody living on Samui that there are plans to build additional golf courses on Samui - Is this so and if so does anyone know of the locations or is he just thinking wishfully - and what about the timescale expected to be ready???
Thanks Mike
There was (is ?) one planned between Chaweng and Lamai in the mountains, however, as far as I know, no activities there yet......

With or without chastity belt.....its raining today !!!

There is a housing complex near the airport called Vichai Pattana Co. Ltd. I know a few people living there (some with families) and that area is fine. Its clean, secure, has a great pool (!), gym room overlooking the pool, sauna, security (owner also lives there). Older houses have 1 and 2 bedrooms and new ones (and I mean NEW !) have 2 or 3 bedrooms and come fully furnished (nice furniture). Additional houses are being build and one guy pays 20,000.- for a 2 bedroom house (I think 1,500 extra for pool) and the new houses go for 25-35.000.- . some have actually seaview and the area is landscaped nicely.
Any website available?

Sorry, no website yet I believe.

Bluntly it could not happen to a better bunch of a...hole
It would serve the Thai's on Samui right if nobody ever went there again!!!!!
I used to live there!
Looks like you had a bad experience on Samui There are countless other nationalities to feed the island.......and forcast looks good ! Though agree with taxis and infrastructure...THAT'S the main problem...NOT a bunch of (hopefully soon literally)stoned fishermen....
Back In Samui On 19th
