Bretta pistols were all the rage 20 or 30 years ago when they were still used by US forces but now Thais are crazy about Glocks which are easier to shoot and just as reliable with a greater cool factor. Also spare parts high capacity mags are readily available and Glocks are easy to tune up. There must a lot of unwanted Berettas floating around as well as old revolvers, of which he also had one. Thais often don't realise they can easily inherit a gun from a deceased family member to register it in their own name and legally sell it, if they have no use for it. So they just tend to sell old guns of deceased family members into the black market, where they can fall into the hands of sleezy farang yobs and crims in Pattaya, Hua Hin & etc.
Cops can't hold anyone responsible for these guns as the registered owner is dead and the family will just say they never saw the gun in the deceased's possessions, so he must have lost it or sold it before he died. Another route for distribution of genuine firearms is the Interior Ministry's civil service welfare scheme that imports huge quantities of guns to sell at discounted prices to civil servants, state enterprise employees and even local defense olunteers. This is a massive money spinner for corrupt ministry officials who control the import and distribution of the guns. Many civil servants sell their guns into the black market, file a police report of a lost or stolen gun and apply to buy another one.

Sory the hear about your loss.
You can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai.
You will need your daughters birth certificate and a copy. And a copy of her house book registry.
The 400k baht will only need to be in the bank on the day your apply. Or can use the 40k baht income option.
Immigration may also want to see your wife's deathbed certificate.
does immigration want the farang to change the ext of stay right away after her death or can it wait until the expiry date of the marriage ext?

I've tried multiple times to get verified at Bitkub with no success. I give up now and want to try a new exchange.
Anyone recommend a good crypto exchange that you have sold crypto and funded back to your thai bank account with success?
thanks

Right enough, I'm coping fine, but when my wife had to go away for a month to take care of a sick family member, I was not doing well. The first week or so was fine, then I started getting a bit paranoid and getting angry faster.
I think of myself as pretty self-sufficient, seems that I'm more of a social animal than I thought. Permanently alone, I could see me turning into one of those shouty people.

I have only had one experience of both private and government .
The government hospital was by far the best treatment.
Clear difference was that the private hospitals are well overpriced and more comfortable .
why was the govt hospital better?

I remember a few yrs ago when covid was just pronounced a pandemic and I was in Pattaya. The bars were still open. I didnt see one girl wearing a mask or giving a toss about covid.
Fast forward to today. If govt officials want to re-open the city/ bars they should be pushing the covid jab on the working girls. How can the bars open before the girls get their jabs?
They should be forced to show evidence of a vaccine before returning to work. We all have to fight together against this Chinese virus. Vaccines are the main way out of this mess.

I would seek medical advice from a doctor but it might be prudent to keep your business closed a day longer while you get all your staff, and yourself, tested,
Luckily the boy only arrived at their family home last night. Thus no exposure to us.
I just heard the govt health office visited their home and took him to hospital.

One of our staff members has a son who had symptoms of covid last night. She slept in the room with him last night. This morning she purchased a 300 baht test from the pharmacy and its positive for covid. They are all going to the private hospital now to get a PCR test.
Our business is closed on Mondays anyway. We will tell her not to come to work tomorrow of course at which time she will get the result. Can I assume that she should self quarantine for 14 days- starting from today?. If she is staying at home for this period how often should she get tested within the 14 day period? Is it acceptable to only use the cheaper 300 baht tests?
Im interested to know some opinions. Its the first time we've had this situation affect our business.
thanks

I cannot find the crypto forum and thus raise it here.
The Solana blockchain recently stopped. You can watch many youtube videos about this. Basically I cannot believe that the price is still holding in the $150usd range. Why is it not below $100 after this show stopping bug? I assume it might be because so many keen investors blindly invested their hard earned cash and dont want to take losses.
Years ago after the Ethereum crypto kitties issue happened the price really dumped. It should be happening now with Solana.
Any comments?

I don't have children and I don't want children so at least I won't walk into that trap.
Most of the time I am happy with my long term girlfriend. But a few years ago there was a time when she thought giving me headache and bringing up old stories is a good idea. I told her she should not do that and she continued. And then I started to see another girl and the existing model realized there are two options: Be nice or it's over. The new girl didn't work out. But the good news is that the existing model realized that it's time to be nice again. She still remembers that and she is mostly still nice.
I think as bad as it sounds sometimes Thai women need a reminder that there are lots of pretty young girls out there who are willing to be nice to a farang who gives them an easy life.
I dont agree with your first sentence bc I think my child is the best thing in life.
But I totally agree with your last sentence. A month ago I had to 'remind' my wife to pull her into line. Its all good now.

This is an excellent question, perhaps the key question for any man.
Even if you did everything right and found a girl of 19 at 30, when you are married for 22 years she will be 41 years old. I don't need to remind people of how Brigitte Bardot or Pamela Anderson, bless their souls, look today to underline that even highly attractive women, when they go past 45, 55, or God for bid 65, look like a horror story. It's truly horrific. And it's not just looks, as age goes on character too always gets worse, as the woman is less interested in pleasing you, more wilful and headstrong, more difficult to deal with generally.
So as men we face two options: 1) We accept that we have to wake up next to a crumpled old woman in the morning and have someone that we love not in that romantic way, but in that post-romantic way, where you care for a person, or 2) We break that bridge and try our luck again with a much younger, more fun, more pleasing woman, who will then want everything the first wife wanted, children, marriage, kids, house, and thus will get equally as boring and equally as difficult to deal with.
Affairs are a given, and should be forgiven of a man, who has chosen to be with a crumpled woman. For if money were no object, every man, like Bezos and Gates, would trade in their ageing wife for a newer model.
The problems will be there whatever you do.
Your opinion is so true. Depressing but true

You could do what I did. Get a one-stop BKK-Seoul-Mexico City. No curfews, no quarantines, no tests (unless S. Korea is requiring a PCR negative to transit). Get your genuine vaccination that works more than half the time - use normal precautions and common sense and respect for others.
I was going insane watching the Thai government flail around like a landed fish.
Guadalajara, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato - the people here are friendly, welcoming, food is great, prices are cheaper, and the government is NOT trying it's damndest to get rid of you in favor of rich investors on private aircraft.
what about the ladies situation? what airline did you fly?
