I wonder how many airlines are currently in the market to buy second-hand planes? All airlines currently have financial difficulties with the majority of their planes parked at airports.
Seems a very optimistic business plan to me.

When you actually think about that - 50% closed - you realise the impact of this total nonsense. When the historians look back at this, they will condemn the governments of the world for the near destruction of all the world's economy, whilst at the same time actually 'growing' theirs and the world's populations ! If this madness does not end soon, the damage caused by these insane politicians and leaders will not be fixed within the next 30 years.
Already my uk owes £30,000 in debt for every person in the UK due to borrowing for this political mess - and it's going up. If you take out retired and those unable or can't work, then that's about £40,000 each - and it's going up. It will have to be repaid quick to avoid potential interest rate rises. So, the youth now will probably get a £2,000 a year rise in their tax for the next 20 years, or a £1,000 bill now for the rest of their working life after starting work ! Madness , total incompetent madness.
And your solution to this . . . incompetence is . . .?

I have a feeling nothing will change until the population are vaccinated.
Prominent virologists (not Thai) have predicted that a vaccine will, at the very, very best, be only 75% effective -- a realistic assessment would be 50% effective.
To vaccinate a Western country with the population the size of Thailand's -- and with far better infrastructure, health service, and communications -- would take over a year.
Thailand has many remote villages! It has an inept government.

''He said that so far 500,000 out of 4.2 million workers in tourism had lost their jobs.''
I don't understand these figures. If the tourist industry is devastated (and we know it is) and the main resorts and islands are virtually shut down, shops, bars, restaurants, clubs all closed down -- and ''Revenue would be down 99.11% on last year's end of year figures'' -- and only 500,000 have lost their jobs -- then what are the ''currently employed'' 3,700,000 doing? What and where are they employed?
Certainly they ain't working in Chiang Mai!
Perhaps Chairat Trairattanajaratporn needs to get a grip on things -- certainly to get a grip on Press statements!

So no 100.000 USD special Corona insurance needed now? New rules every day in this country!
And no ''piece of paper'' saying you are covid free?

So what is the ''Alternative Local State Quarantine plan''?

Also I hope the Thai travel company enlighten people as to the expenses they will incur for the isolation, before shopping online .............LOL
Only the Chinese could charter a plane with only 1200 a month allowed in -- 300 a week (ish)? Perhaps 2 flights a week.

just keep throwing obstacles and keep imagining people dont notice
So, 1200 per month = 300 per week! All from different countries so it is highly unlikely that there would be sufficient numbers to fill 10% of a plane!
I wonder what airline would be willing to fly at such a loss!

''TAT would lead the country’s largest foreign exchange earner and job-creating industry into a new future''
''prepare positively for the time when a vaccine would be found and restrictions on international travel lifted.''
''Never give up. You are not alone. TAT will help you all overcome''
A spokesman for the UK's 'Oxford Trials' said yesterday that the earliest a vaccine could be distributed would be late in 2021. Of course, we could always try the, allegedly, safe and effective 'Russian' vaccine -- the one that was rushed through all trials!

Easy solution: Just increase the Quarantine period from 2 weeks to 3 weeks (or maybe 4 or more).
Tourists can then have their 30-day holiday completly within a government-appointed hotel!

Perhaps a controversial ruse? It takes the tame media, and public's, attention off the 'Red Bull Affair', unemployment, submarines, suicide rate, lack of tourists, etc.
What better than to force attention to a much more important issue -- not getting your vodka on line, eh!

Make every weekend a four day weekend....
that will solved the issue of no people?
No....the answer is letting foreigners back in w/o Q and manage them...
otherwise, expect a week-day ghost town...
cant expect people when there are no people around....
And how would the authorities ''manage'' the foreigners without quarantine then?

''The visa will be valid for an initial 90-day stay but can be renewed twice – 90 days each time – for a maximum stay of 270 days.''
Not the ''average'' tourist then!
Do these people think the majority of Thailand's tourists come for 90 days plus?
Some people have to work!
-
While the 2-week quarantine is in place tourists will not 'flock' back!
The thought of sitting for up to 12 hours on a plane, with a face-mask on, with potentially a number of infected passengers, the $100,000 covid insurance, the 'covid-free' bit of paper obtained less than 48 hours before flying (it takes me a day to get to the airport never mind the 2-5 days waiting for test results) -- never mind the increased cost of flights -- would put many 'tourists' off visiting the LoS!
And I wonder what the proportion of 'over-90-day visitors' is compared to the 10-, 14-, and 21-day tourists are? I bet they spend more money than the '90-dayers' -- the short-stayers pay and go on sight-seeing trips, rent cars, bikes, etc.!

I see the TAT statistical department have been pulling figures out of the air again. None of them seem to have any logical basis.
Yes, it seems very strange that the quoted figures of ''2.5 million jobs out of a current 4 million in the tourism sector may be lost'' as last week they announced 2 million tourist sector jobs already were lost. And, due to the permanent lack of tourists -- and the fact that many 'jobs' were casual -- no one really knows how many are/were working in the 'tourist sector'!
I do like the optimistic term 'may be lost' -- especially as there has been a derth of tourists in Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai, etc., etc., for some months now -- how all these people are still working! Must be lots of 'benevolent' employers!

Other countries offer free covid treatment to tourists in case they fall ill. Guess were they will go for holiday.
And, as we hear, as Phuket, Samui, Pattaya, etc., are all pretty well closed down: no bars/shops/restaurants open -- and many hotels closed down -- I wonder what would entice tourists to holiday in these resorts?
Perhaps the owners of the bars and restaurants will open up again ''in anticipation'' of the ''hoped for'' hordes???
