  1. That is indeed my plan. If I can't beat them, I'll join 'm. I have 400m2 on the ground floor which I can turn into Chiang Mai's seediest and loudest bar. Watch the locals that still persevere around me flee to the moobaans, taking the last remnants of Thai culture that exist here with them. I'll actively contribute to the Pattayization of Chiang Mai if I have to. Don't pay rent on it so might as well sell beer at, or below cost so I attract the real deadbeats.
  2. This is indeed the solution. Don't portray Thailand as a country where you can get decent night's rest. Let the world know the party is on 24/7 so don't come if you're not into that. TAT forecasts 4 million arrivals in 2024. All had potbellys.
  3. No guarantees for a quiet night in the boonies either.
  4. I'd start with a swimming pool ban and go from there.
  5. Already the bars disguised as restaurants near my guesthouse are trying their luck and closing later and later. My guests are certainly noticing and writing reviews in which they describe excessive bar noise. These new 4am closing times have the potential to sink my business.
  6. Not giving up on this topic just yet. Surely there has to be away to improve things with what we've got? Attached a pic of how the water travels up. A clear split into the left side of the building (8 rooms) and the right side (8 rooms). Could we remove the split and run two pipes to the pumps, then assign one pump per side of the hotel? Perhaps add a pressure tank so we have a pump/pressure tank combo for each side of the building?
  7. I'm a fan of the new stuff coming out of China but did notice that some of the earlier MGs look like crap now, after only a few years. Worn. Beat.
  8. Surprisingly basic they are, but seeing how these technologies are implemented on other vehicles, most notably EVs, that may not be a such a bad thing. Keep it simple? We're in Thailand after all.
  9. Thanks. Confirmed that its NOT waterlogged.
  10. Don't forget to add some crazy stickers to it. Make it the ultimate lo-so status symbol.
  11. Thanks for your comments although I was hoping for a simpler solution than dishing out hundreds of thousands on new pumps, motors etc. The pressure (bladder) tank does emit air at the nozzle. It is pressurised at regular intervals by a contractor using a simple electric air pump. Does this rule out waterlogging?
  12. Yes, when the pump(s) are firing the water pressure is good. As soon as they switch off (pressure setpoint reached) the pressure drops.
  13. Spot on. He used same diameter pipe throughout whereas the main lines (the tree trunk so to say) should've been bigger. To change that we would need to get a sizeable drill inside the duct shafts to redrill bigger holes. Not sure if that's even feasable. The system has never worked properly. It's a poor design. We've always had poor water pressure but it only manifests itself in the shower. The surging has been better (as in less bad), especially after a service, but soon after goes back to its old ways. Can't even run a sprinkler in the back garden to water the grass. It goes from a piddle to full on fountains at the Bellagio and then back to almost nothing.
  14. Hi guys, I'm attempting to fix a water pressure issue at a 16-room hotel with two retail spaces on the ground floor. Don't plan to do the work myself but want to be knowledgable before I let the contractor form his thoughts on the problem. Trouble is that the water pressure is weak but also surges when the pumps come on. So on the ground floor we have two 2hp water pumps pressuring the system, with an added 80 liter (I believe) pressure tank. Two 5000 liter in ground water tanks. (We don't have the option to store water aloft in say a day tank or something) On the ground floor we have 5 toilets & bum gun (both on same outlet) 8 faucets 1 garden hose 1 shower & 1 washing machine The hotel rooms are on the first and second floor. Every room has 1 shower, 1 faucet, 1 toilet & bumgun (same outlet), so 3 outlets per room for a total of 48 outlets. Curious to find out how you guys would create stable, adequate water pressure for satisfying showers? My initial thought was put the full ground floor on a separate system by buying a 1000 liter above ground tank and a domestic water pump and let the existing system only deal with the hotel rooms on the first and second floor. Thoughts?
  15. Maybe your wife lost interest in you because you're a monger?
  16. It's not a "major test" for Sretta at all. What makes the writer think that?
  17. This is true. A friend runs a building supplies company for government building projects. She recently was told she was under investigation from anti-corruption agencies. A 42-year old woman that amassed a fortune colluding with civil servants literally had no idea that what she did was illegal. She even had to be convinced that providing fake invoices to these civil servants was wrong.
  18. CM trying hard to bring a swift end to high season, just as tourism was putting some money in people's pockets. Peak CM/Thailand if you ask me.
  19. Effective stuff that SnailWhite
  20. C'mon now. Last time I checked power plants weren't located in central Bangkok. This is just a completely illogical and unscientific take. Not to mention that going forward we have a real chance of using more and more renewables to generate power.
  21. Could be a game changer. I imagine the numerous hybrids and EVs already are making a slight difference. Converting busses and pickups to EV is a challenge I believe but would make a noticeable difference in terms of liveability in Bangkok. Don't forget EVs are also less noisy.
  22. They will just show up at 5am instead of 1am. On that front nothing will change. It's not like the 4am closing time will suddenly be adhered to. If there's money to be made.....
  23. Interesting to point out that the majority of the folks opposing EVs are either too old to drive or will be soon.
  24. Bunch of Luddites here on the forum. Must love breathing in toxic fumes. Can't really understand their position. Can you imagine Bangkok with the majority of vehicles being EV's? I might move there! Sure, its not perfect yet but a real opportunity for Thailand to clean up their cities.
