  1. A dentist can put antibiotics in the tooth itself I believe. Amoxycilin never worked for me either...
  2. They're trying to beautify the city, also with putting wires underground around the moat. It's slowgoing yes, but let's give 'm credit that there's at least some awareness.
  3. I concur. Absolute hell. Benzos are extremely dangerous.
  4. It's beyond me that people living in Thailand of all places are against EVs. Here comes an opportunity to clean up this country, well at least the big cities (less emissions) yet yall are too attached to your noisy, smokey petrol/diesel engines. Just weird. Can you imagine how much more liveable Bangkok would be if it was just EVs on the roads? I might go and live there!
  5. As a hotel owner I have to ask. Why?
  6. Already overheard someone say "great all these dispensaries but where do I get a meal"? Fact is, landlords prefer dispensaries over restaurants and its easy to see why. Easy money, less fuss.
  7. I thought Harley's topped out at 50kph?
  8. Obviously a tragic story and RIP, but if you look really hard there is a bright side to this story... One less Harley on Thai roads, assuming its a total loss, and lets hope it is.
  9. Exactly my thought. When its MY food being delivered everything goes. I don't care if they run 300 km/h, go for gaps that aren't there and scare grannies.
  10. I've made 0 friends in 8 years. Don't expect that to change.
  11. I think your results will vary greatly government vs. private facility. At a private hospital you decide yourself whether you have ADHD or not (or in this case your girlfriend). They want to sell you (pricey) Ritalin/Concerta after all. At a government hospital I would expect the diagnosis/analysis to be a bit more thorough. I have experience with the first, not the last.
  12. If your budget is <500k then I really don't understand why you don't stretch the budget a little and not get a Yaris Ativ. Beats a second hand car from 2017 with 46k on the clock in my opinion, even though its 60k dearer. Sure, interior is <deleted> but otherwise decent car. Plus you'll get it new, with warranty, couple of free services & insurance (for a while). Beats buying a second hand car in my opinion. I don't have the guts to buy a second hand car in Thailand, I'll admit. Honda having turbo issues is a new one for me BTW. Never heard of that one before, but fair enough I'm not a mechanic.
  13. I recently found out that these kind of exclamations were common in the 70's but then for Japanese cars. We all know what followed.
  14. I've noticed this too and can't understand why. My only explanation is that taking a direct booking is more complicated and (junior) staff may not be able to handle your request. Or may not be allowed to. There's also a chance that Agoda et al may undercut hotel direct rates, for instance by offering an "Agoda sponsored" discount but I haven't quite figured it out how this works. OTA's are very sneaky and its all smoke and mirrors tbh. For my property I've set the goal to be completely independent of Agoda, Booking etc because I simply don't like them and their cut-throat way of doing business. Luckily Airbnb is increasingly working with hotels. Lower fees and overall they really respect us hotel owners, whereas for Booking/Agoda/Tripadvisor you're just a cash cow.
  15. The hotels set the prices for the various online travel agents. One thing to keep in mind is that Booking and Agoda "borrow" each other's prices. As a hotel owner I can differentiate pricing between Agoda and Booking, the end result is that the customers always gets the lowest price of the two, no matter on which platform they book.
  16. As a (small) hotel owners myself I would recommend this too. At my place it will be hundreds of baht cheaper per night if you book direct and its zero hassle doing so.
  17. As a Dutchman, I completely changed my mind about Biden the last year or so. He may be an old man but seems he's got his team set up well. A relief after 4 years of Trump. Hope America can find its feet again with Biden.
  18. I pity the people who have to endure the noise pollution.
  19. Ask for a room change? A 4-star hotel would be sympathetic to your request, if not flat out ban the guy from smoking in a common area.
  20. Must be a dump if they allow smoking in the rooms.
  21. It's still like that, but after 8 years here new I do feel it's getting a little better. Just a tiny bit more attention for city beautification. Rumours even that communication lines are going underground in large sections of the moat. Imagine that. The CM moat without the warrens of comm lines.
  22. Just stating facts, not being dramatic. One can be perfectly happy living in a city that is in decline. I imagine many Americans are in situations like this.
  23. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Most, if not all Dutch cities have improved dramatically the last few decades. In terms of livability, noise, traffic, public transport etc. I see no such improvements in Chiang Mai. Perhaps Bangkok is improving but Chiang Mai definitely isn't. In not a single category.
