In every civilized country the moo baan would forbid the burning and enforce it with high fines. After the people pay a 1,000 Baht fine and know the next one will come if they burn again, they will find out that 60 Baht per month is much cheaper. In civilized countries...

That's right but, here nobody enforces anything so, nothing changes ????????????

It's not really news it's just a tweet by a private person they are just looking for reasons to censor the internet.

They are censoring it already. I have had to either delete some posts after getting some weird stuff from FB, or simply cannot post others!!!

I do not want to sound like I am defending Anutin. I am not.

However, many people on TVF have posted comments to the effect that "if I am not sick, I do not need to wear a mask". The problem is that this virus is infectious for some number of days before a person displays any symptoms. With that in mind, it does make sense to wear a mask based on the fact that you may actually be infected, and infectious, and not know it. It is not about protecting yourself from the virus, but limiting the possible spread of it.

If you are asymptomatic, then you would not be coughing thus wearing a mask will do nothing. However, in this stage your hands can transfer the virus. WHO has released correct hygiene procedures regarding this!!!

  4. I too live in a rural area of Chiangmai so, l understand your pain. The Pu Yai has after 2 years managed to get a rubbish collection service up and running. The sad thing is that out of nearly 200 homes, only 60 have signed up for it. The reason given that they cannot afford it, at 80 baht per month!!! That means that those remaining 140 will continue to burn everything including plastics or dump it in the hills or as one local proudly stated to me "l dump mine in the river"

At our home we keep our plastic and glass and sell to someone. Kitchen waste we compost.

Pu Yai also tried setting up a parcel of land for them to dump green garden waste to be then processed into mulch. Unfortunately the locals dumped everything else there as well so, project failed.

How to educate this lot...... No answer!!!

I once placed fallen leaves around some trees in the garden as mulch. I went out, came back...... all gone and burnt!!! I asked why? and they said "dirty"

I don't know what they will do when this years burning ban comes in. More than likely mass dumpings in the hills!!!!

Maybe it is as you say, but it have never happen to me before, and neve in any of the about 60 other countries I have visited.

It is normal in China. Everyone has to show ID to travel by bus or rail. It's no big deal but, both yes and no to being more big brother!!!

Also when the bus crashes and burns you to a crisp, your corpse will be easier to verify. ????

  6. Tractors and mini cultivators would be great. Finally something positive from this lot.

Better than back in Australia, where the farmer gets diddley swat, even in disasterous times.

However, they need to stop growing crops like corn and pineapples on excessively steep land. Maybe replace them with say hemp which isn't affected to much by either pests or weeds. It can be harvested 3 or 4 times per year and uses very little water. ????
