  1. I thought the Equinoxes decided the start of the seasons, not Thailand, but I do realise how much some of the more "patriotic" ones think that they are the centre of the Universe!
  2. Not everybody had the financial "clout" that you say is needed - what is your advice for them?
  3. I've been to Pattaya once with a couple of mates and won't be rushing back, so not everyone fits in with your preconceptions that the only ones who don't like Pattaya are the ones who've never been there. And where I live is an island resort which is far from "boring", but relatively safe from lunatics and ladyboys. P.S. 4 a.m. in Pattaya - what could possibly go wrong?
  4. Sounds like the group of foreigners cause him to lose face over something serious - like a parking space?
  5. He has to do a couple of other things first - stay out of jail and get elected!
  6. Maybe they'd had reason for previous dissatisfaction with the Manager - complaints etc - seems he's a bit up his own a**e!
  7. And you probably knew a few that died in their 20's 30's 40's (Road accidents etc)
  8. Not very clear from the article, but the restaurant in question is not in Thailand - it is a Thai restaurant in in California i.e. :- Coup de Thai | Thai Dining | Los Gatos, California
  9. “She incurred permanent injuries and will forever be damaged,” according to the lawsuit filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court. And she's only claiming $35,000? Something definitely lost in translation here! 🙂
  10. I have a stomach complaint that prevents me from eating spicy food (and carbonated drinks, and lots of other "goodies") so "Not spicy not delicious" does not apply to me as I have to stick to food without chilies etc, and when ordering Thai food I ALWAYS ask for no chilies. If it is pre-cooked and contains chilies, I don't order it - full stop. The food that the doctor ordered sounds by implication of its name to be very spicy and to be honest she should have known better, but I fear that a lot of money will be changing hands here that we will not hear about!
  11. She's an American doctor, and you can bet your bottom $ that the amount she (and her lawyers) are suing for will be in the range of a "King's Ransom (as we say in the UK!)
  12. In "Big Joke"s case:- " Upon further investigation, it was found that his wife Sirinadda Hakparn owned stocks in five companies worth over 10.17 million baht." And On September 26, 2023, Big Joke told the media, "As for the source of the money, I can answer where it all comes from: By receiving an inheritance from my wife's father when he died. It's almost a billion baht already. The inheritance that I am about to receive from my mother-in-law, who manages the wealth, is worth nearly a billion baht."
  13. "......there have been no recent developments." Well - that we have heard of - I am sure that there is a lot of "negotiating" going on behind the scenes!
  14. By your reasoning ,eating, drinking and breathing is a privilege! I agree with your statement about "Many people in the world never get to go outside their own countries, many can't even afford a passport.", but for those that can, it has usually been achieved by working and saving, and it is just unfortunate that some of them go berserk when they go on holiday to their country of choice, and should be punished accordingly.
  15. Heard of all the other 3 - but not the parrot one - sounds Australian or South American? Maybe he was thinking of the dead parrot sketch by Monty Python?
  16. Bit of a racist comment, don't you think? I have never heard "pissed like a parrot" before - you just make that up? "Drunk as a skunk" - yes but that gels alliteratively (You'll probably need to Google the meaning of that)
  17. "........... is he a drunk ?" Is that a rhetorical question? :- "The motorcyclist, identified as an English tourist, appeared to be heavily intoxicated and was without any form of identification."
  18. I don't think "Fatty Brit" is the injured party, unless the guy on the ground is just "having a kip"!
  19. They want the tourists, but they don't want tourists to become investors! " Thailand's Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong confirmed that the ministry is engaging with impacted local operators to devise a customised response." What could possibly go wrong when TAT are involved?
  20. The Mojave Desert must have looked like that for a while - but at least they completed the job - Viva Las Vegas!
  21. GPO? Royal Mail used to be called the GPO (General Post Office) but I feel that this is a different acronym! 🙂 (I do hate it when people assume that you should know their meaning sometimes!)
  22. I still fail to see why a convicted criminal should even be ALLOWED to run for President, let alone why millions of people would vote for one! Still, I'm from the UK - I know nothing of American politics!
