  1. For the first time I can remember, Koh Samui Council became pro active, and used the quiet time to advantage by resurfacing nearly all of the ring road on the island. And the beaches were super quiet - no jet skis or hawkers plying their trade (OK everybody has to make a living - just sayin'! 🙂)
  2. "Are Thai hospitals over charging ?" Without a doubt - some more than others. At a certain hospital in Koh Samui, (which has to remain nameless due to defamation laws) a mate of mine was visiting and overheard a doctor telling a guy he needed "a stitch" in his finger due to a small cut, and the cost was going to be 19,000 baht! The same hospital were going to charge someone "up to 500,000 baht" for a spinal operation when it turned out to be a trapped nerve!
  3. I had to have a root canal filling and a crown fitted, and the Insurance paid up. However a few years later, I had the same problem with another tooth, but they wouldn't pay out because:- "I had made a similar claim before". So, for insurance purposes, you're only allowed to have toothache once in your lifetime?
  4. And then get lost and somebody has to call out Emergency Services to come and find you! Great suggestion!
  5. Ahem! :- are currently working with their insurance provider in the hope of resolving the situation. How do you know he was taking photos on a ledge? Were you there?
  6. O I C now! (NOT Officer In Charge)
  7. WOW! Just WOW! Neever mind, going by the gobbledegook underneath the main headline it looks like it will go to appeal, and then to and fro like the pendulum on a grandfather clock, by which time they will all be retired and they will have to start the process all over again - YAWN!
  8. I tend to avoid Russkies like the plague anyway!
  9. As well as the "boarders" , what about the people coming off the planes? 😄
  10. I find that an experienced pharmacist is more likely to give a better diagnosis than a straight out of medical school doctor. Of course they are in the business of selling pills as well, but unlikely to say that you need a 500,000 baht spinal operation for something that tuned out to be a trapped nerve!
  11. Yes,all those "dirty unwashed farangs"! I wonder if Anutin will be back on parade again soon with his inane comments? He's been very quiet recently - especially about the cannabis debate!
  12. 10,876 baht = $330 (US) approximately, in "real money" so you're a bit out with your assumption.
  13. How do you have a good fight without blood being shed? 🤪
  14. You forgot:-".... sent both patrons and police into a frenzy"
  15. "His version of events depicted a quiet night disrupted by an unprovoked attack from a group of women and transgender individuals, insisting on their innocence in starting the fight." So he reckons the night was disrupted by an unprovoked attack, but then protested their innocence?
  16. "Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra might avoid a return to jail following his Supreme Court trial next month, ....." What's that strange word that's linked to "Shinawatra" and "jail" - "MIGHT"?????
  17. "there was a "passporbro one" for the guys getting drugged with scopolamine in Meddelin...Guy in designer shirt/$100s moneyclip/drug bag/hot chick on hinge app on phone screen" What are you going on about?
  18. Very unusual for a "pot head" to trash the place they are living - or anywhere else for that matter! Possibly/probably other drugs being used e.g. alcohol, yabba etc?
  19. I had to pay maintenance for my daughter until she "ceased full time education", the legal age of which was 16 at the time. My daughter decided to stay on at school for her 'A' Levels, and then carry on to University, and I had to carry on paying maintenance until she got her Degree at the age of 21. Although I was quite willing to suport my child, when I queried why I should have to carry on paying beyond the age of 16, I was told by my solicitor that carrying on beyond the age of 16 and then going to University is classed as "Additional Education, but it's a "GREY AREA"!!! (Even she didn't understand the rules, so Magistrates have interpret the rules as they see fit - a bit like Immigration in Thailand!
  20. Agree 100% - probably all from Esan. My Thai wife is a lovely lady but has a few undesirable "quirks"! (The shower room/bathroom is like a launderette, and not a spare inch of space anywhere in the house - every surface is covered by "stuff", which is continually being moved, so you don't know where anything is! And why do Thai ladies wash the dishes and not dry them and "put them away"? They're just left in a heap on the draining board. I'm maybe being pedantic, but I believe that everything should have its place, so when you need something, at least you know where it SHOULD be! 🙂
  21. I rented my house out in the UK to a Polish guy and his girlfriend and brother. They didn't trash the place, but left it dirty, and were sub - letting (contrary to the contract), and when they vacated the property they left 27 black bags full of refuse (kitchen and otherwise) in the carport at the bottom of the garden. I partly blame the Council because in the UK, all garbage/rubbish has to be segregated (glass and tins in one container, cardboard in another, kitchen waste in another etc etc etc) all collected on different days, and woe betide you if you put one tin in with the cardboard! The container/wheelie bin (which has to be paid for by yourself) has a label with a big red cross stuck to it with "CONTAMINATED!!!" written on it - you'd think it was spent nuclear fuel!!! Plus the tenants probably didn't read much English and were unsure of which days each type of rubbish was collected as the instructions given out with your Council Tax bill are all in English. The bummer was that the Council refused to take the 27 bags of rubbish away, and I had to get them taken away by a Refuse Disposal Team at my expense!
  22. "SMF"? "WTF" does that mean? It has 81 meanings in "Acronym Finder"! From "So Much Fun' to "Shaking My Fist"!
  23. Or even manslaughter! I wonder how the taxi driver would feel if it was his father whose death he had cause by his contemptible thoughtless behaviour?
