I love how this article focuses on "Foreigner overstaying visa arrested..." rather than that a pedophile and child porn purveyor had been loose in Thailand.

Do you not know that arresting overstayers is the top priority for the police in Thailand - which is obvious by the number of police that are in the photoshoots when one is taken into custody?

In this case however, it appears that it was justified - more by luck than by investigative police work, but it will no doubt be hailed as the reason why all overstayers are hounded, taking up many hours of police time that could be better spent doing "proper" police work!

    Time will tell.

Do they know the actual cause of her death ?

"It wasn’t until a cold case review launched in 2016 that hope resurfaced. With scientific advancements, investigators managed to piece together crucial details, suggesting Lamduan had been killed."

Maybe keeping it under their hats in the hope that the perpetrator might trip himself up somehow by revealing facts that nobody else knows?

  3. A big fuss being made about tourists/farangs peeing when they get taken short. The obvious answer would be more  public toilets that are well placed and publicised in public areas in Phuket (as well as other tourist resorts in Thailand).

But that is no excuse for peeing against someone's car  - presumably well in the public eye. If you get taken short - find a back street or even the sea - after all fishes pee and s**t in it! And from what I've heard, there is plenty of raw sewage being dumped there anyway!

As an aside, which has already been mentioned already - how many times do you see Thais taking a leak at the side of the road without a care in the world , but you never see that plastered all over the pages of the media? Maybe tourists/farangs think that that is one of the local customs that they are following suit! 🙂

Since the arrival of mother Russia in Phuket its fast catching up to Pattaya with its crime, misbehaving tourists.

Throw in the dodgy English and French expats the pissed Australians, the rude chinese tourists it's going to be a absolute disaster give a few more years and the  Brian's trust will go will that was a mistake wasn't it.

Sad really as 10 yrs ago it was a nice place to live I got out as soon as  the Russians moved in  and went back to BKK safer bigger and you don't have to see or  associate   with those people if you choose not too.

Take out the ones you suggest and the place will be like it was during Covid - somewhat resembling a Wild West ghost town only thing missing being the tumbleweed!

Yes, there was a lot of frog jumping going on.

The other thing that has always bothered me is the people passing on the left on a single lane.

One time on Koh Lanta it happened to us just as we were pulling over. The bike didn't see our turn signal as she was past the bumper. The driver stopped just in time but the girl hit the front bumper and fell over. We dusted her off and took her over to a restaurant for a soda. Her boyfriend came and they demanded $4000 baht for the scrapes on her bike. My Swedish friend had a house amongst the Muslim community so he agreed to pay. He then came to me for $2000 baht because I was the reason he was on the road as he was taking me to the recycle depot.

I had a pub & restaurant at the time and gave my friends a break on prices. Once my "friend" started paying regular prices I didn't see him too much. Definitely not enough times for me to recoup my $2000. If I wouldn't of yelled at him to stop, as I saw the gal sneaking by, we would of probably run her and the bike over. Only Buddha knows what would have happened then.

"My Swedish friend had a house amongst the Muslim community so he agreed to pay."

What's that got to do with it?

    And " $4000 baht"? Do you mean 4000 baht or $4000??? 🙂

       •    “If it were a Thai person, they’d have been arrested the moment they unzipped.”

Thai taxi drivers regularly unzip and pee at the side of the road without any consequences.

        •    “They must think they can do anything in Thailand. Our laws only apply to locals.”

But they don't apply to locals.

Where I live it is the Thais who drive their motorbikes in the wrong direction, on the pavement, without a helmet, while texting on their phones.

I see Thais openly breaking the law on a daily basis but I don't see any Thai netizens complaining about that.

Or the police doing anything about it - mind where I live, the tourists are as bad!

"It serves as a stern reminder that while Thailand remains a welcoming destination for tourists and investors alike, adherence to the country's legal frameworks is non-negotiable."

"Non-negotiable" ??  I must have been living under a rock! Up till now I always thought if I had money I couId negotaiate, just like the Swiss guy kicking the Thai doctor sitting on steps. Silly me for thinking that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra received privileged treatment at Police General Hospital because of some honest negotiation.

Dead right - If you have the money, everything is negotiable.

  8. So - Illegal entry, operating unregistered educational facilities, operating nurseries without approval, no proper work permits, employing undocumented migrants - all offences committed by 1 Laos, 5 Russians, 2 Ukrainians, 8 Myanmars, and 1 Thai.

The only thing they could pin on the Brit was overstay. Who are the "Bad Boys" now? And where are the crime "kingpins" in all these "raids"?

I wonder how many Immigration/Police/Administration officers were involved, and how many hours were clocked up during the arresting and processing of the massive numbers (17) of people arrested?

Sounds like perfect Bar-stool banter (rumours), but also sounds perfectly believable...

I'll wait to see IF something like this ever happens to me....     "I'll show you mine if they show you theirs" !!!!!

    ---------

I was involved in an accident decades ago, other guys fault, he had no license, van not insured or taxed either.

At first the BiB tried to pin the incident on me, but I had photo's too many of which we proving the lies the other guy was telling... I was polite but stubborn, in the end they sided with me as there was no way they could legally pin the incident on me - BiB were fair, but only because they were forced to be..... and I've found that out in other situations too, the BiB will side with the foreigner and will be fair when there 'easier' other options (path of least resistance) are / is exhausted.

"I'll show you mine if they show you theirs" !!!!!  Love it! 🙂

Another one of those articles lacking in detail. From the article I have no idea what was the dispute between her and her client. What was the alleged service she provided and did not get paid?

Another one of those readers that does not read the full article:-

"Stallard explained that she travelled to Thailand to collect the unpaid service fee from her Thai client, who previously utilised her company’s consultancy services but failed to pay the £30,000 charge and stopped responding to communications."

Consultancy charges can be expensive - especially if you are dealing with a Thai millionaire!
