  1. ".......move to another country" Wow! That's 2 in 2 days - becoming a regular occurrence again!
  2. That one's starting to wear a bit thin, I'm afraid. Can you not think of your own put down phrases?
  3. What an absolute plonker! To try to smuggle cocaine into the country is bad enough - but in his PASSPORT! 🤪
  4. Yup - you can't teach stupid!
  5. No plomplem - I just thought it was quite appropriate to "Perhaps (post)2more"!
  6. Point taken - you don't need to make it 3 times! 🙂 Or maybe your "Nom de Plume requires it? There was a camera, but maybe it did not capture the transaction - the foreigner kept saying "Show me the note I paid you with", but the tuk tuk driver declined, and at no time do we see any money. Anyway, the guy's been charged now so we will probably never hear the truth.
  7. Nor yours, I also suspect you are not really German! 🤣
  8. "Seems you are one of the 'go home' crowd as well." No, no, no! When you called me a bum and said you were well ahead of me I presumed you were already on the plane! 🙂
  9. So on your way then Klaus! 🙂
  10. Does the "go home" crowd understand Thai people aren't 100% happy with every aspect of their country too?" No, I'm sure they don't! I think that they are of the type that are comfortably well off, so they are entirely happy here, and the exorbitant price of a bottle of decent wine bothers them not a jot!
  11. The "mandate" from memory came from Anutin, because there had been an outbreak of a new strain at a prison, he reckoned it must have been brought in by a "farang"! 😅
  12. I was in Tesco Lotus today, and went to get card in order to get a meal. There was a sign saying that there would be a 10 baht deposit paid which would be refunded upon the return of the card. The sign was in English, Thai, Russian and Chinese. Nuff said? "If someone doesn't like Thailand then just leave" Oh, what a comprehensive "Problem solved" statement. Never heard that suggestion before! 🤪
  13. Do you mean "admissions" or "allegations"?
  14. "Thailand has made too many changes over the many years I've been living here, making changes, giving in to these moaners." No, you got it wrong - I have been living here for nearly 20 years and it's the changes that have been made that has given rise to the "moaners". As I have said before, nowhere is perfect, and I am happy living here as opposed to the UK, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing about Thailand that needs changing! (IMHO!)
  15. You can't criticise poor hotel service/standards or you get charged with defamation, now you can't criticise the country because it may damage the country's "reputation"? What next? Getting banged up for criticising Thaksin? Oh, stop, no, I never said that, sorry, I was drunk/stoned on marijuana, and I'll never do it again!
  16. "If there is a problem, call the police and resolve it, this way." 🙂 Not been here long have you?
  17. I have been living in Thailand for many years in one of the tourist spots, and am very fortunate in the fact that I have never actually seen a proper fight!!! A bit of pushing and shoving, but nothing ever came of it. And yes I do go out drinking at the bars!!! However, I have noticed, like yourself that the attitude of the younger generation of tourists can sometimes be a bit "arrogant", and that in itself flies in the face of what I was told about dealing with Thais - always try to be polite, and you will get polite back. Another thing which seems to be on the increase is the similar attitude among the younger Thais towards foreigners, which is not helped by the constant barrage of "farangs behaving badly" articles. Just as an example, when the local Tesco supermarket opened here a few years ago, the mostly young staff, while inexperienced, were always helpful. Now, a lot of them are sullen, and if you ask about the location of a certain item, more often you will just get a "no have" and a walk away. Also if you say "khoob-khun krab" half the time you just get ignored. So the problem is universal - I reckon a fall in standards down to poor education and a lack of discipline at home, and now I sound like my Dad did!
  18. Speekin 4 those of us wot blame the driver, I reckon he got off light! A slapped face (assault & battery?) for 600 baht profit! (non taxable)
  19. Yes, I remember that and thinking - "You wanted 'em, now you got 'em - quality Russians!"
  20. Nah, he's just a baby one - just learning!
  21. Worst thing you can do is feed him!
  22. Your post, I believe? "He is obviously a Brit. And obviously in the wrong. Short changed the taxi driver and then physically assaulted him. So why is it on this forum we can not use the headline "Brit assaults taxi driver" Swiss Dave wasnt called Foreigner Dave. Russians, Chinese, Indians are always identified form the country they come from. Why is it that the country that causes the most problems here are protected? I am a foreigner, and I despise being tarred with the same brush as these idiots."
  23. Goat made the point:- "So why is it on this forum we can not use the headline "Brit assaults taxi driver" Headlines running side by side today:- British tourist held for attacking Thai cab driver - update Foreign tourist robbed of 80K gold necklace in Pattaya and the opening sentence in the article:- "A Laotian tourist, Detnakhon Inthakoummane, aged 37, reported being robbed ......." Just kind of proves my point about Brits usually being mentioned in the headlines, and other nationalities are just "foreigners"!!!
