That must be some very good kool-aid. Delusion can be a powerful force. Trump is a master of delusion.

I totally disagree with your statement.  Most everybody in Washington thinks the tariffs are a good idea whether or not they admit it.  It's been the left (as you are (I assume)) that have been complaining and calling Trump all kinds of names.  BUT WAIT!  The people that wanted tariffs long, long before Trump came on the scene was the Left and none other than Nancy Pelosi (also Chuck Schumer).  It just took 25 plus years for a great President (Trump) to come along that had the balls to do what no other President wanted or could do.  Thank God for POTUS Trump.  See links:

Scroll to the end where Schumer is mentioned

" Most everybody in Washington thinks the tariffs are a good idea whether or not they admit it."

So you personally know "most everybody in Washington" ? If so, you really should choose friends that are prepared to stand by their beliefs!!!

  2. "The TAT remains hopeful but cautious,......"

TAT are ALWAYS "hopeful", "estimate that", "anticipate", "are looking forward to ...", "are confident that..." Thailand will get xxx million tourists next month etc. etc. etc.

Surprised they even acknowledge that tariffs may have some impact.

By gas, I mean gasoline/petrol. Still plenty bars at 50 baht all day and even one at 40 but I don't really drink. Never touch foreign food. When i first visited 1995 was 37 baht and then 1999 when moved here was Mid 50s..yes there was  a couple of years of 70 baht but not since 2008, so XE and your example is kinda irrelevant. Seriously inflation hardly exists. Bike tax and insurance same same.. everything almost 0% inflation 😁 still live very comfortably on 30k 👍

Sorry for the mix up re gas, but I meant gas for cooking (Calor?) which has gone up substantially. NO bars here where I live selling beer at those prices - maybe 711/Tesco/Macro?

"Farang food" gone up substantially, and when it does go up it's not by a couple of baht! For example - Salad Cream jumped from 199 baht to 299 baht in one fell swoop recently. (I have already agreed that Thai "street food" hasn't increased to the same extent.)

The example I quoted is hardly irrelevant, as those rates did exist at that time, which is the time when I first started coming here. (Retired here 2004, but spent a few years before that as a "snowbird"!)

Medical costs have gone up dramatically - Bangkok Hospital were going to charge someone here £19 for one stitch in a cut finger!

It would appear that if you "go the full hog" and live here like a Thai, then prices have not increased as dramatically as prices for "farangs", and my point is that if prices continue to escalate the discerning tourist will seek other cheaper Asian destinations for his vacation (Vietnam, Cambodia etc), and let's face it, most tourists like to "sample the delights" of street food from time to time, but for a proper dinner they prefer a proper restaurant with a glass of wine (which is also ridiculously expensive!)

I've lived here ny on 25 years and Thailand is same same...pay same, or less rent, pay the same for a beer, pay almost the same for gas, and apart from a half baht increase in electric, the same for utilities.. Of course the dumskis that are Tik tokers, you tubers, yoga and wellness "teachers" will always be overcharged and have no truck against paying more. Thailand is the land of no inflation with anything and everything you want to do at yesteryear prices. Floods, coups, tsunamis no matter..Thailand trundles.along regardless 👍

Think you're suffering from amnesia, mate!

I've been here for 20 years and the price for all beer has gone up. In the resort where I live, a bottle of Tiger beer used to cost 60 - 65 baht in a bar - now it's pretty much a standard 80 baht in most bars. Same for "farang" food - a pack of pomelo used to cost 35 baht in my local supermarket - now it's well over 100 baht.

The price for Thai food has also increased - but not by as much, I will agree on that. The price for bottled gas has gone up from 300 baht to almost 500 baht, so I think your memory is playing tricks!

However, I agree with you regarding rental prices - they have remained pretty constant, but don't forget that 20 years ago we were getting 70+ baht to the British pound, so a 10k monthly rental cost you app £140. Nowadays, at today's rate of 44 baht to the British pound, it costs you £238!

Oh NO, another one with insufficient health care and funds.

But hey, why not go for other people's money?

He came to Thailand for retirement? Could have saved 300£/month easily.

This would be now enough (40.000£ probably) to take a fly wherever he wants.

No need for any donation at all.

That is funny, they chose the absolute dirtiest part of Pattaya Beach to make love.

That is where the sewerage overflow is released.

A lot of raw sewerage also flows out at that very spot. Most of the 300 short time rooms in that immediate vicinity have dodgy plumbing that gets released right there.

All the sperm that gets flushed down the toilets and washed down the showers there makes its way to that outlet.

Old farang, Indian, Arab sperm all gets mixed up together.

If she is pregnant after this it will be interesting to see what breed the child is.

A 30-year-old British man has died after participating in his first Muay Thai fight on the island of Koh Samui. The man, identified as Joseph Itai Rinomhota, collapsed after receiving a kick to the ribs during his bout at Samui International Stadium on the night of 28 March.

According to Pol. Col. Denduang Thongsrisuk, superintendent of Bo Phut Police Station, officers received a report of the incident at 00:05 on 29 March from Thai International Hospital, where Rinomhota was pronounced dead. Authorities, along with medical staff from Koh Samui Hospital, conducted a preliminary post-mortem examination at the scene.

Rinomhota’s trainer, Nanthawat, reported that the British fighter entered the ring at approximately 21:30 for his debut match. In the third round, the referee stopped the fight after Rinomhota sustained a heavy kick to his right ribcage.

Despite being able to leave the ring unaided and remove his gloves normally, he began experiencing muscle spasms, breathing difficulties, and dizziness while unwrapping his hand wraps. About five minutes later, he collapsed and his heart stopped beating.

Emergency responders performed CPR at the venue before transporting him to Thai International Hospital, where medical staff attempted resuscitation for approximately one hour before declaring him dead at 23:00.

Immigration records indicate that Rinomhota had travelled to Thailand nine times, entering under various visa exemptions, including a 30-day visa-free entry and a 60-day temporary stay permit.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the exact cause of death and will coordinate with the British Embassy regarding further arrangements.

Then as I pointed out earlier - in that case 'its ok for the seller to sell T-shirt of a deceased loved one with a profanity'....    its within the Thai Law, but clearly that would be morally reprehensible.

The subjected is far more nuanced that simplifying it to... Its within the law, its just a T-shirt etc...

I think there is a line in the sand that shifts within a grey area, over time, from region to region... clearly there are extremes, and I'm sure someone 'responsible and considerate' would like to remain on the respectable side of this line.

This shop seller is either naively and perhaps even innocently ignorant, or just doesn't care - as others have pointed out, thats entirely their prerogative - but its also understandable that in such situations others may become insulted.

Exactly as the text of the post says - she is within her right to sell whatever shirts she wants, whether they feature Hitler or Osama Bin Laden, so she doesn't care about other people's feelings - just about the money she makes from selling them.

As another poster pointed out, I wonder how she would feel if she had lost a loved one in for instance, a car accident, and somebody printed a tee shirt of the disaster scene accompanied by some crass comment, and put it on sale to the public?

Who the fork are these people to order others what to sell...if they don't like they can buy off the products and throw them away..

These people are making a living in their own country if you don't like go back to your country...

"...........if you don't like go back to your country..."

    There's always one!

"............if they don't like they can buy off the products and throw them away.."

Rather defeats the object of making a protest really - the shop owner would be quite happy. She would probably label the next batch "Best Sellers"! 🙂

I have no strong feelings either way about these shirts, but I might feel differently if for instance, my family had been murdered by the Nazis, or I had been bombed out of my house in Ukraine.

As long as the non fail policy is used, the education system creates lazy students, and stimulate not to learn or do any effort to reach something in their lives.. People are not different from other countries, but the Government keeps them stupid to stay in power. Suppose that the students are being well educated and see what is going on, they would loose their power and status quickly. And many Thai teachers in any subject have the same problem. Too many students in a classroom, nobody can fail, and some schools even oblige teachers to give no lower grades than 2,5.

"People are not different from other countries, but the Government keeps them stupid to stay in power."

Exactly - that is why they keep disbanding/barring anybody from the political opposition with any education for the flimsiest of reasons - e.g. Move Forward Party/Future Forward Party. Shameful!

Didn't he say something about actually improving the nation? That seems like an eternity ago. I knew he was senile but talk about forgetting all your promises. Yikes.

Not wanting to sound off topic, but broken promises also apply to his counterpart in the UK - Starmer :- "Every pensioner - EVERY pensioner will be better off under Labour" Bullpoo!
