Thanks for your reply Slyanimal it was quite informative. I am not interested in watching dvds through the ps4 as i watch most movies from a usb stick on my tv. I also cannot burn my own blu ray disks on my computer so this makes the blu ray function immaterial to me too. If they are the only things I need to be concerned about then I think the ps4 with camera and fifa 14 is a good buy.
I am also exploring the idea of buying a ps vita as well so that I can play my ps4 games remotely. Has anyone tried this out with any games and how did it play.
Another reason for buying the ps vita is that with the ps+ online package I would be able to download and play ps vita games for free every month which makes the ps+ a great deal too. The only downside is having to buy sony memory cards to put them on so if anyone knows of any great deals on memory sticks please let me know.
Cheers JAF

Hi Guys, a couple of questions
I am considering buying a ps4 to enjoy in my downtown and after checking Nadz Project I was all set to buy from them.. But on Lazada I seen this deal:-
PlayStation 4 System - FIFA 14 Bundle Set with PlayStation Camera
Zone2 / Japan Version
15,990 ฿It seems like a great deal but I am worried about it being a japanese version zone 2 machine. What implications does this have for me if I want to play it in Thailand.
I will also buy a PS+ card from amazon or maybe from Nadz so I can play online. After reading this forum it seems that it is better to join the US network rather than the thai network because you get a better selection of downloadable games.
Last but not least, where is the cheapest place to buy PS4 games in Thailand or is it better to buy online and have them sent to me here.
Many thanks for your help

I think it is really sad to see whats happening here. The BIB know exactly who did it and not done anything about it. They and the perpetrators from AC bar have only themselves to blame. Boycott the Island and hit them in the pockets where it hurts.
Ryan Just a word to the wise. Do be careful what you say here as the libel law is very strong in Thailand. Without knowing all of the facts it is not wise to accuse a thai national or a business as they can lodge a complaint with the police and this website maybe forced to disclose your ip address.

Good news at long last. Thailand has been so used to brushing crimes and investigations under the carpet that they feel they can get away with murder. The way to a thai persons heart and mind is through their wallets/purses and if tourists stop going to the islands then you can be sure that the thais will rectify their behaviour and bring the culprits to justice.
The police investigation has been an absolute shambles and from the outside looking in, it does appear that they are trying to protect vested interests and "thainess" on the whole. Blaming multiple suspects who are burmese and european is just their uneducated way of muddying the waters so that nothing appears transparent. By my reckoning I would suggest thai logic is quite clearly opaque and cannot be questioned for fear that they will lose face.
It is high time that thai people and the government accept that a part of thainess is that they feel they can do whatever they want without recrimination based on the knowledge that if the foreigners dont like it then they should go home. I would strongly suggest that tourists would consider holidaying somewhere else where they will be treated with a lot more respect and let the thais learn the hardest lesson of all.

Thats not much of a bargain when he can buy a new one for 1,250 bht with a 12 month warranty!!
JAF
I just upgraded to PS4- ill sell you a xbox 360 cotnroller.. for 1000 baht..
-
You could also check out Nadz Project, they have the wired controller for 1,250 and the wireless for under 2000 bht

They are not cheap to buy in Thailand, around 2000 bht and more for the wireless version but you could try Fasttech. They sell them far cheaper at around $30 and have worldwide free deliverey. Reliable company that I have bought from many times with no hassles..
Here are a few links for you:-

1.. Teach them about world history and not just thai history. Let them be proud of Thailand but stop teaching them to be so jingoistic with nationalism.
2. They are born buddhist because their parents are buddhist. Let their parents teach them about buddhism and if they want to know more they can go and learn at the temple.
3. Stop piling their bags with incredible amounts of homework. All they will do is choose one subject to revise and then share that with their friends to copy. Copying is endemic in Thailand and it is why their are so few creative thinkers.
4. They will never be free whilst you cage their minds with conformity. Allow the students to question everything and treat their questions with respect.
5. Outlaw corporal punishment.

I don't know if we can complain about the price of wine because on a recent trip to Tesco Lotus I saw that they had quite a large selection of wines including Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Merlot for 199 bht per bottle. I bought 5 bottles and polished off a bottle of Pinot Grigio last night. I would not say it was the best bottle of wine I had but it was passable.
JAF
Who judges if something is expensive?
Can we complain about the price of wine?-

Cheers Joecoolfrog, you hit the nail right on the head but I doubt it will stop all the cynical naysayers and barflies from putting the boot in. I feel sorry for these guys who have little or no faith in the relationships that they have built in Thailand.
JAF
The guy has been married 15 years , its not as if he just built a house after being with a bar girl for a month. Obviously a lot of you have never had a trusting relationship , never taken a risk and consider checking your bank book to be the highlight of your week. Salute !

Cheers for the advice guys, even though some of it is negative it still gives me food for thought. I have been married for 14 years so as mentioned previously I do have some protection under sin somros but I will read up more about the usufruct and get that taken care of in the near future.

I am assuming it is all in my wifes name. We are still together so its not a problem to change any details if neccesary.

In whose name was the building permit issued?

Hi
I have recently built a new house on land that I purchased with my wife. When I asked about the tabien ban she said that she had already received it and that the property was listed in her name.
This is not what we agreed and now I am insisting that the title should be in my name instead. Can anyone tell me what I will need to achieve this and what it will cost as well.
Thanks

I am no expert but after recently completing a house build I can offer some insight and the pitfalls that I should have avoided.
The number one rule is that whatever you agree to do with any builder make sure it is in writing and do not pay too much money up front as they seem to lose their incentive for finishing the job.
The number 2 rule is that you should try to be onsite and constantly watching their work and progress. Thai contractors employ builders who are notoriously sloppy and inept at times. The standards that I had hoped for have been waylaid by the quality of the work that has been done. When I complained, the contractor was quick to promise to rectify the errors and slow to sort it out.
The number 3 rule is to try and remain calm and patient at all times for fear of offending your builder who will then walk off the job leaving you in the lurch. Even when they are wrong, they will find reason to blame their poor workmanship on you and your attitude.
I know this sounds quite negative but there is a lot of truth in what I say. If I had the time all over again I would not have bothered to build a new place but instead, I would have found a finished project and saved myself many sleepless nights and stressful occasions..

I recently bought my Samsung inverter from Lazada online with free delivery. Normal retail was 32,000 bht but it was on sale for 19,250 bht. I got the local contractors to install it for 2000 bht. Nowadays I try to avoid the superstores like Homepro because they always seem to be more expensive.

I am the guy who posted the pics of the water treatment system above. I have connected the system to the local water supply from the mountain and when that runs dry, to the borehole in the garden.
But I have noticed that the mountain water is coming through with a light brown colour. I am not entirely sure whether the manganese filler is helping to clean this water ot whether I need to use something else. Can anyone tell me what filler would be sutiable please.
Thanks

And then there was light......... After umpteen calls that never got answered I decided to ring the helpline instead on 008 44 300 222 0000 where the kind lady put me through to the payment office within 30 seconds and I managed to complete my payment over the telephone. Hurrah
Hope this advice is useful to anyone else who cannot contact the payment office on the direct number they provide
JAF
I have been ringing all day and I am still ringing the passport office regarding my card being refused. Rang the number 008 44 151 471 4302 over 80 times and all it does is ring ring ring. On 4 occasions I got an engaged tone but after ringing the number again it just continues to ring ring ring.
A thoroughly frustrating and incompetent service so far

So you really never thought about that before until someone on here suggested it. Dear o' dear.
Whilst in the midst of finishing our new home, starting a new school term with my private students and suffering with a fever I completely overlooked that it was a bank holiday in the UK and that I was unable to get through on the direct number that I had been given by the payment section. Luckily I was complis mentis enough to seek the advice of those helpful members on this site.
Sadly, this forum topic is beginning to attract snide and unnecessary remarks. Makes me wonder why these posters bother reading these forums.
Thanks once again to those who have offered informative advice.

I have recently finished building a house and I bought a Mazumo model shaped like a rocket on sale for 12,500 from HomePro. It also included the manganese filler. I will try to take a picture for you today and post it up later to see if it is suitable for your needs.

With a little help from the helpful guys on this thread I went to BKK and got through the whole procedure within 10 minutes. Long time traveling from down south for such a short appointment but at least it is now done and dusted.
Tonight I received an email telling me that they are unable to process the payment from my Bangkok Bank Mastercard. I will go and visit the bank tomorrow to see what the problem is but what is the cheapest way to contact +44 151 471 4302 using my tot fixed line or 121 call on my mobile.
Cheers
JAF
Was it a world wide Bangkok bank Mastercard
Yes it is but I think that it was overdrawn on the account or that it has not been cleared for UK purchases. I will clear that up with the bank when I go and visit them. This is why I still need the cheapest option to ring the UK using my TOT homeline or mobile number as I cannot buy credit to use on Skype at the moment.
Thanks

Getting my PS4 next week - How best to set it up and which ps+ account to buy?

Hi Guys
I decided to buy the japanese PS4 with camera and Fifa 14 that was advertised for under 16,000 bht on Lazada. I have also bought a few games too:-
Fifa 15 (zone 3/asia)
Infamous First Light (asia)
Destiny (zone 3/asia)
The Last of Us (not to sure about which region but its from Lazada)
I have read that its best to set it up with a US PS+ account which I would have to buy from Amazon. But then I read that this might mean that I cannot access downloadable content for the games that I have purchased above as they are asian versions and would need an asian PS+ account. I am also worried that if I set it up incorrectly I might find it hard to play with other players online here or in Australia.
Is there anyone who could give me some advice as to what to do to get the best out of my new machine and which ps+ account is most suitable
Thanks for your advice and assistance
JAF
PS I am also going to buy a PS Vita in the next few weeks to take advantage of the ps+ account and the free downloadable games.
