  1. As far as i can gather, once granted pink card is valid for 10 years. yellow book is associated with the house/condo you own and hence no changes even if you are away from Thailand.
  2. Get infected during the stay, get hospitelised, and fined before departure... 'Test & Go, come back, Test & Go again, infected, hospitelised, fined'
  3. There has been several instances of visitors being levied fine for overstay. but then, who has the nerves to argue about this, when one could potentially miss a flight and cost even more
  4. most insurances would disown stay for asymptomatic cases. Bonus round : Can pay a fine for overstaying your permitted visa period....
  5. I read the plight of few other tourists, who were 'hospitelised' for being tested positive during their stay after 'test & go'... Few of them got fined for overstaying the visa period, upon departure at the airport... But then, they were not allowed to leave the country, as they were locked up in a hospitel! You just cant win
  6. Can they ever come up with anything straight forward, without ifs & buts, & 101 other conditions? Is Thailand the only country that receives foreign tourists and travelers? What conditions are imposed by other countries! If foreigners ever dream of being treated on a level playing field in Thailand, other nations has to start applying some of these creative conditions to Thai traveler's abroad. Is there ever an end to silly decisions!
  7. Reciprocal to what Thai's get overseas. - No 90 day reporting - Ability to buy property (not 49% of a condo) - Not being disqualified for loans, based on visa - Not pay dual pricing - When Thailand re-opened in 2020 after initial lock down, Elite visa holders were not among the first lot (7 categories) nor second lot of foreigners allowed back into the country.
  8. ???????? He is in shock. We tried utmost to make it difficult for retirees to live here. Yet, they vote us BEST Turn the heat on, what else can we do to make their lives miserable!
  9. ???????? Well said, i have also heard these being mentioned as one of the major reasons they don't like long termers. These farangs are enlightening frogs in the well and prepping them in asking difficult questions
  10. The only eligible category are retirees due to visa limitations, who are increasingly unhappy with the experience. Then you have Elite visa for those younger than 50, which is a relatively expensive affair, but to their surprise its only a visa with almost no rights. Now, who else would you attract!
  11. With Omicron now prevalent in the country, what loophole does 'test & go' pose! What is the difference between '7 day phuket sandbox' and 'test & go'? - international arrivals are free to leave the hotel within 24 hours in both cases, after the first test being negative. - with the sandbox, the hotel earn 6 additional days of income. So how did it benefit anybody from abolishing test & go?
  12. In a similar situation, I have in the past stapled my passport together and it was smooth sailing. Not SA passport though. when they issue new passport, they normally stamp the old passport saying, ' passport cancelled, Visa's Valid'
  13. ???????? Martians, i meant. What else do they need the subs and now the F35s, when the country & populace are drowning in debt.
  14. While i agree with you, most tourists would look at 5* and 1* reviews. in most cases they wont drill down to establish if it was made by a tourist or long timer. while reserving a room on booking.com, i would look at best and worst reviews of a hotel with particular attention to recent & demography-wise reviews. if i see 3 x 5* reviews and 2 x 1* reviews, i would rather look for another hotel than take a chance, especially if travelling with family.
  15. Remember seeing a krungsri ATM in front of mini BIg C. is that gone too? After shutting at pantip, BKK bank has recently closed another branch on sri donchai next to maninarakorn hotel. Pantip has lost a couple more coffee shops on the groundfloor & the dunkin donuts recently.
  16. You have answered your concern. When planning a vacation, one would read up about how foreigners are treated by a host nation. this is not further deciphered if they are long or short stays.
  17. When will TAT learn, its not all about a new names & slogans. Its about cleanliness, safety, fairness, which they have included in the campaign. Its time to Act and NOT just talk. 'Trust' has to be earned from deeds, not from announcements. When policies are amended so often without any notice, when promises are not met, slogans become meaningless. How long term Expats are being treated in Thailand has to have an impact on decisions being made by tourists despite them having different periods of stay.
