  1. Maybe he could get a little more definitive results from the world expert analysts compared to the local staff who have neither the depth of training, experience or equipment. It bemuses me that Thais do not understand how far they are behind the world scientifically.

Does it also bemuse you that Thailand has a university in the top 50 for pharmacology and social science (that's the top 0.2% in the world), top 100 for medicine, life science, bio-medicine and chemical engineering and top 150 for chemistry and earth science? That is out of all the 22,000 universities in the world. Do you have a degree from a world class university?

If they are so advanced why are they not in the forefront of inventions and discoveries because I have not noted many local Thai's trailblazing - have you?

Good point...How many Thais have won a Nobel Prize?

and I'm just putting this out there....

can anyone name ONE major contribution to the advancement of civilization/medicine/technology that has been pioneered by the Thai people? It's a question, if there is one, I'd love to know.....

Also, before coming to Thailand, I had never heard of any Thai universities being recognized as top tier...maybe in the region of Southeast Asia, but certainly not on a global scale

LOL Nobel prize, that's a good one. As for major contributions from Thais - Didn't they invent a sword, muay Thai, Siamese twins and a short time?

  2. Pol Gen Somyot Phunphanmuang disclosed the latest test of DNA samples collected from semen found inside the vagina and annal of Ms Hannah Witheridge, 23, showed they belonged to Mongoloid people or Asians.

I find it hard to believe that this statement was reported. Who is in charge of this farce?

  3. The only time you would need to change plates is if you sold the car and the new owner did not want your Chiang Mai plates. You can insure your vehicle in Pattaya with your current plates. My car had Pattaya plates when I moved to Korat and I never changed them in the 7 years I had the car in Korat.

thanks for the information - I thought it would be more complex than that as we are in Thailand !

  4. I guess they will find out from the rape kit if it was the boy or not - Its pretty shitty that his picture is all over the place at this point of the so called "investigation" even if it is found he is totally not guilty his name is already smeared with this.

I hope professional investigators deal with this and not just someone pointing a finger at anyone nearby to "solve" it

  5. So what it really boils down to is the oil?

The paltry, almost exhausted North Sea fields that Westminster would have us believe?

Of course it's about oil, do you think there would be this push for separation without the discovery of North Sea oil. As for it being exhausted, it's not only Westminster that is saying this, also Scotsman Ian Wood( see post 1253 ) who should know more about this subject than the politicians and their puppets, be they in London or Edinburgh. Then include the figures for the loss of the Edinburgh financial sector as explained by another Scottish economist in an earlier post.

But please do go ahead with your "YES" vote hopefully to be followed by a big Edinburgh party, it will provide some comic relief for the English before they prepare for the influx of jobs from north of the boarder.

Talking about jobs,on the BBC a SNP MP was on the Referendom News this morning, whinging about 40,000 Younsters a year are forced to leave Scotland to seek Jobs, you can bet your last English £Pound,39,000 of the Jobseekers will be heading for England! Just goes to show how out of touch and insular the SNP is.

Scottish waters hold 2/3rds of European oil already and some new discoveries are huge. As for Scots leaving to work it has been going on for generations - look all over the world for their influence.

  6. Saw one guy in Pattaya (South African I think) scrounging money on Soi Bau Khao in Pattaya every day for months. His scam was telling you he had just lost his card in ATM and needed 100 baht for ride home.

He would then go eat in the 30 baht tin cup place where he also filled an empty water bottle from their free water jugs - total prick and a smelly <deleted> as well.

  7. There is a big difference between being frugal and being tight.

Bringing your own drinks into a bar is not being frugal, it is being damn right tight.

I understand that some restaurants overcharge for their bottled water but a restaurant is a business and if you don’t like their prices and policies (or can’t afford to eat there) don’t go there.

I am truly shocked at the amount of westerners on here who are actually proud that they are tight fisted and even more worrying is that they do not realise (or care) how a business makes its money to pay their staff and survive.

As mentioned above, if you cannot afford to eat/drink in a restaurant/bar then don’t go there.

There are plenty of cheap food stalls to eat from.

If you can afford it, pay for the service and quit being so tight.

My parents were frugal when I was a child but not greedy, It was tough times and I got clothes from the shelter and from the Army & Navy store - It is no fun going to school dressed as a Japanese Admiral.

  8. I heard about one guy from Dundee in Scotland calledxxxxxxxx he is a cheap bastard who fills his suitcase with imperial leather soap in Thailand and takes it home as its half the price in LOS.

He also only uses the water machines that take 4 baht to fill a 6 litre jug and avoids the 6 baht machines. He even carries a fan be bought at a car boot sale for 1 GBP over to use in LOS - what a dick.

  9. Having lived in Jomtien for several years...and having a propensity for an enjoyable massage at least once per week...I can tell you from experience that at least half of the massage parlors I went to were fronts for prostitution...some girls even seemed offended if you actually told them you needed a massage first...and talk about the other later...

One soi full of massage parlors in Pattaya City specializes in oral...

Jomtien soi X has attractive young women that all specialize in oral...

So I do not believe one must go "undercover" to expose prostitution in the Pattaya...Jomtien area...

Condo massage parlor...prostitution against the rules...yet they will go to your room to give a massage...;and strip off their clothing before saying hello...

Absolute lies in this post. never seen in Jomtien or Pattaya - nothing going on there at all like this.
