  1. I noticed a couple of days ago, I pulled up to the front of the lights on my wife's scooter, ahead of the white line, and noticed everyone else was behind the line staring at me.

Would be nice if the police acted on laws that actually matter, but I guess that's beyond their capabilities.

So you were the one in the wrong then......but not an important law in your eyes then?

  2. I wonder if people whinging about Thai work permits ever needed to get a work permit elsewhere? If it so good elsewhere should we introduce labour market testing where national adverts have to be run for weeks on end to show no local can do the job like in the UK? Should we place a cap on the number or work permits issued per year, like the US H1b visa? How about recognised qualification testing, like they do in Australia (long, slow and expensive).

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

I have had work permits in Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Angola, Saudi, Kuwait, Egypt, Nigeria, India Ivory Coast and Thailand - the worst place is Angola followed by Thailand then India took our HR department months.

To be fair I had little to do apart from appear at immigration for a minute - but the complete process took 4 months. Angola takes 6 +

    4 months? It's getting worse.

    Here is the real issue.

If it was not so difficult long and expensive to get, there would be less abuse of other visas.

You may well be correct, I do not know how much the incompetent HR staff in our Bangkok office had to do with it. I have to say every single person I have dealt with here in immigration have been very professional and helpful. I also confess to having little contact but it has all been good.

I actually think the visa policies here are okay and will actually be clear and fair after Mothers day, I have no problem with complying with the rules - seems fair to me. If I work elsewhere next year I will just get a retirement visa for Thailand as I have passed the big 50 now.

  3. I prefer a house, plenty for rent in the 4k-7k per month range.

Condos near KSK Mall, in the soi opposite petrol station and beyond, 3k a month and up, no tv or fridge, but usually have aircon.

Really......who would want to live there. Living like a tramp, better to go home dont you think and back to a welfare cheque.

  4. I am flying with MAS in a few weeks time.

Avoid the same flight path mentioned here, at all costs.

    Good luck.

I'd ask for a huge discount or change my flight to a different airline or aircraft type. Two Malaysian 777 disasters with total loss of life in a matter of months. What are the odds of that happening? And according to the superstitious, these things can come in threes...

I can't agree with you about wanting a discount - I would prefer to fly with someone else if I wasn't happy not try to die with a few more dollars in the bank.

  5. I agree that Zoos suck and are not there to "save" animals but to make a profit from them. Same as the dolphin parks, tiger shows and all the other crap.

Animals are not here for us Humans to stare at and exploit, they are there for us to eat as god intended otherwise he would not have made them taste so good.
