Maybe the muppets making these decisions, should pay closer examination to their own shortcomings before placing nations like Laos, with no new cases for weeks, on an at risk to Thailand list ..........
You couldnt make this nonsense up if you tried.
It was explained by the spokwsman today that neighbouring countries were put on the list to enable stricter border controls to take place. Nothing to do with how many cases.

My BA flight on May 14 has been cancelled as well. There are no BA flights to London until Tuesday 2nd June. Online you can request a voucher or change flight to a later date foc, of course no guarantee they will be flying in June. If you want a refund you have to call them.

But no doubt the cause is the same. Migrant workers crammed together in abominable conditions. Perfect conditions for the spread of the virus.
Yes the cause is the same but different circumstances. Singapore migrants homes/camps. Thailand illegal immigrant detention centre.

Just seems weird to add status to differentiation for medical/public health concerns.
So, by this logic...even though I have physically been located in Thailand since the beginning of February, if I now in March mess up my paperwork/reporting/whatever for my current visa and end up, let's say, a week in overstay...then I find out I am C-19 positive, would we not count that against Thailand since hypothetically if someone would have caught my out-of-status status and deported me, my infection would have been caught while I was physically located somewhere else? Would I be classified as an imported case and not one of the former two categories (connected to known case or not)?
Yes you are correct, however I think this cluster in this detention centre is a 1 off. If previous days are anything to go by, the numbers will be down to low teens again or even single figures.

As far as I know there is not a travel ban between provinces, only in the curfew between 10pm and 4am. I travelled from Chonburi to Rayong province 2 weeks ago. Today my wife's brother drove his motorbike from Bangkok to home in Sa Kaeo province no problems on both occasions.

It doesn't matter who they are or where they're from , the Singapore experience is migrant workers couped up in special accommodation , however they've got Covid 19 and as long as people are getting covid 19 Thailand isn't out of the woods by a long shot and neither is most other countries including China all except Nth Korea who is exempt from Covid 19 because their leader say's so.
I understand what you are saying however these are illegal migrants from Malaysia. Thailand on the face of it does not have a large Covid 19 problem, Malaysia does. Basically what I am saying is if they hadn't come here illegally then the numbers would be against Malaysia not Thailand. Yes I know the virus isn't going anywhere just yet.

Singapore Mk 2
Nothing like it. The migrant workers in Singapore with workers inside Singapore in their camps. These are Migrants in a detention centre who has been out of Thailand.

Yes just to add before the usual people get on their soapbox.
53 new cases today. However, despite the apparent leap, 42 of the cases are foreigners at an Immigration Detention Center at the Sadao Malaysian/Thai border checkpoint which was previously closed several days ago after an Immigration officer tested positive. The entire center is being tested and quarantined, including staff.

Let's hope the government never does get straight with us, or we'll have a boring time in isolation with nothing to do ????
So you are in isolation, maybe that explains everything. No requirement to be in isolation in Thailand as far as I know.

How's the NIH reference lab chugging along? Up to until 4th of April they seem to have done about 2500 RT-PCR tests:
And no idea how many the other WHO reference lab at Army had done.
You need two positives from two reference labs to end up as a confirmed case in these TVF threads. All others with only one reference lab result, "Probable". Private test only and positive? Not counted.
You are so negative about anything good about the virus, what is wrong with you? Are you like it all the time? I dont want to be rude but try and lighten up and see the positives in what the government are trying to achieve in a difficult situation.

TV Poster 2 - It contains 5g virus
TV Poster 3 - Why didnt the UK join the EU vacination scheme.
TV Poster 4 - They said creating a vaccine was difficult they have been lying about it.
TV Poster 5 - Vaccines are racist
Do you get my point. I am so p**sed off with people on here always seeing the negative side.

This notice is dated 18th April and does NOT mention anything about the lockdown being lifted on 1st May - only that the decision will be reviewed beforehand!
I agree I think Richard jumped gun on quoting this article. Its status quo in Chonburi until the governor issues an updated order.

You had it half right. It smells like cats p*ss and tastes like cats p*ss. Why on earth anyone would drink it is beyond me. If it has no alcohol you might as well drink a soft drink or water and save your money.

I'm desperate for a haircut and salons are already open....but no way am I gonna put my health in jeopardy...will people really feel comfortable visiting restaurants and bars in the immediate future... especially when wearing a mask is compulsory along with sitting at separate tables....if strict measures are not adhered to those numbers will soon jump....it's a shame but we ain't getting back to normal in Pattaya no time soon
Get real. So there are only 15 new cases in the whole of Thailand out of 69 million people, none in Pattaya area since April 19 and it just so happens the guy cutting your hair has the virus. Its laughable.

Its now been just over a week since the checkpoints on entry into Pattaya City have been operating. These are my observations. The rationalle for setting up these checkpoints was to restrict the possibility of an infected person entering the city where it was assumed there was a red "hot zone" with many cases. This was coupled with the fact that the Major of Pattaya wished to keep out people from other provinces during the Songkran period. The late start of the operation meant that the efforts to stop Songkran in Pattaya was implemented too late, but in any case Pattaya is deserted and there were no Songkran incidents. The fact is that there are now very small number of infections in Pattaya, with no new cases since April 19.
Back to the checkpoints. They are a complete waste of time and resource. I have been through from Pattaya darkside 4 times now in the residents lane 4. There are very minimal checks and they only want to see address ID and sometimes take temperature. Even in the non residents and motorbike lanes, there are few checks. I have not seen 1 vehicle refused access to Pattaya. Which raises the question, what is the point of the checkpoints?

Will never be extended dreaming. Watch and tourists will be back with fit to fly medical..But not Chinese
Another member on another planet. Why do you assume the Chinese will immediatly be allowed back. The state of emergency will be extended but relaxed. Incoming people to Thailand will be severely restricted for some time, Chinese included.

My wife has been stuck in the U.K. due to no flights however even if there was a flight it’s impossible to get Insurance cover for the virus as well as a letter confirming you are virus free .
I think you are on another planet. The OP is asking a serious question. All Thailands borders are closed until at least 30th April. That will probably be extended. Only repatriation of Thai citizens flights are allowed to land. All have to go to a strict government facility for 14 days mandatory quarantine. The requirements for insurance and a negative virus check were dropped prior to the borders being closed. The requirement was a fit to fly certificate. That is all not important now. When Thailand eventually does reopen the borders, new entry requirements will be published.

OP just go your normal way that you always go, when you hit the checkpoint show your wifes ID card with the Banglamung address, no paperwork required. I have gone through 4 times for shopping at Lotus, Big C etc, no issues at all. 3 minutes or so queuing, 30 seconds to get through. Have your passport with you and your driving licence as well in case the want it. We copied everything to A4 size, something they asked people to do at the start. This is well received.

a no of factors i feel-lack of testing, how do u know how many have it if you dont test a varied and wide section of the pop?,masks used ,the weather is a big factor the UV shrivels the virus, less physical contact,IE the airkissing mania in the west.the way figs are collected in relation to deaths.traffic accidents is an example your only a traffic victim if dead on the scene .those dying later didnt die of the road accident according t the govt.applies here with pneumonia figs.one thing is for sure though if you hide away then come out later it will effect you again.no immunity.wave 2 will come as it will everywhere.here we have had buses and trains full of people being sent home,a late response by gov after being flooded with mainlanders ,large gatherings for free food,to buy alcohol in a small time frame.etc exposure there,we dont know enough medically about its spread as chinas got more info but wont give it.all in all hospitals arnt full of the sick so its a bit of a mystery.i just wont to get out of here a ship of fools is what it looks like to me and the PMs the capt

MERS, another coronavirus, thrived in Saudi Arabia, where it is extremely hot.
The theory that heat kills the virus, is just a theory. Like the fanciful notion that masks keep case numbers low in Thailand, rather than a lack of extensive testing the sick and the dead.
Unfortunately both theories are wrong.
Yes but Covid 19 is not MERS. Look at
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Look at cases and deaths per 1M pop. Filter the results into either cases or deaths. You will find that the countries with the most cases and deaths per 1M population are cold countries, at the time of the outbreak.
