  1. My Extension of Stay based on Retirement and my Mulit Entry Permit expire on the 15th of December. I am leaving Thailand on the 1st of December and I am not sure if I will return before they expire. If I arrive after that date is there a concession or do both expire then I would have go through the application procedure again, If I renew before I go will my Extension of Stay date start from the 15th, I only plan to get a Single Entry Permit this time.

  2. Any date will suffice!

The travel dates do not appear on the permit which remains valid for the duration of your current "permission to stay" ddate.

Thanks, one more query, my current Multi Re Entry Permit expires on the 15th of December but I leave Thailand on the 1st of December now soon can I apply to renew it and will it run from the 15th of December ?

  3. I have to admit after knowing my Girlfriiend for a few weeks the thought entered my head about taking her to the UK even to the extent of going to the Passport office in Bangkok, twice, it was just after the time when they had all been closed. In the end I gave up as there were hundreds waiting. Two years down the line I have my 'sensible head' on still with the same lady. I look after her, feed cloth etc and give her money for the Market on a Friday for herself. Why on earth do farangs 'fork out' thousands on a monthly basis,

My advice would be stop the money, leave it for a few months and see how the relationship developes from there. If I was an Embassy employee as soon as I seen her age your age, where she had worked it would even have been considered.

I find it very difficult to take this post serious, 5 week relationship, 28000 baht a month !

  4. This gent can easily acquire a visa by post from the Thai Embassy in London

If he is in receipt of a State Pension he could get a 12 month multi entry "O" visa.

    .

If this gent is making frequent 30 day "visa exempt " entries he can continue to expect to be challenged as to what, exactly , he is doing.

There is NO 180 day limit/restriction on time spent in Thailand.

He is only in receipt of the U.K. state Pension, less than £10k a year, not sure he would qualify Multi Entry O

    Visa ?

  5. I have a colleague who makes regular 30 day trips to Thailand he is 73 and a UK resident, every time recently he comes in the Immigration take him to the office asking why he is here in Thailand. He doesn't have the finances for a 'Retirement Visa', is not physically fit to go to a Consulate nor the transport to apply for a Visa in the UK.

Today on arrival he was advised by the Immigration Officer to get a 'Retirement Visa' or he would not be allowed to enter on his next trip as he had exceeded the 180 days permitted in Thailand ?

  6. I was out the the other night, My usual Chang, nice new bottle but it just didn't taste the same, been off alcohol for a month, in fact I thought I was drinking Leo. There wasn't the usual 'bite' to it, checked the label, 5.5% ! I did a bit of research and come across this article,

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/ThaiBev-consolidates-all-beers-into-Chang-Classic--30267087.html

They have ruined a great drink, not too every ones taste mind you, I will need to reconsider my 'poison'

  7. Im confused, where do they ask for the proof? I made 2 trips in and out of Thailand last month one a visa exempt and another to get a single entry visa and nobody asked to see anything

I was coming and going on a 30 Tourist Visa for a year until I got my Extension of Stay, I was never asked, I have friends who do 30 a day Tourist Viss regularly, never been asked. Imagine the queues/confusion if they started asking.

I would have thought if you had a return ticket they would have no reason to ask.

  8. My Extension of Stay based on Retirement is to due to expire mid December the same time as my Multi Entry Permit. I will be leaving Thailand the 1st of December so will have to renew my Extension of Stay before I go. Will they cancel my Multi Entry Permit when I renew my Extension of Stay, will it cover me for returning to Thailand the end of December or do I have to complete a Single Entry Permit. I am concerned they could cancel my Extension of Stay when I return.

  9. I am in a similar situation as the OP.

I have a 60 day tourist visa but unfortunately I have to return to work in Middle East on the 16th August.

I am applying in Bangkok for the Non Imm O which is then to be used to apply for the 12 month extension based on retirement. (I meet the requirements of age and funds in bank)

I am using the services of one of the 'Siam...........' law firms who say they can have the conversions done in a matter of 2-3 days. (Due to my having to return to the ME early August)

They have also said that I complete all the forms at their office and then I do not need to go myself.

Does this sound right? They are charging 43,000 baht all in (including multi-exit) for the 'expedited' service (I'm ok with the cost if it is done fast)

Is it legal though getting this done so quickly and me not having to attend in person?

Note the email reply from the Law firm below:

    Good day!

Please see the documents you have to bring to the office on Monday July 20th at 10AM:

    1. Passport

    2. Departure Card (usually stapled in your passport)

    3. 3 passport size photos with white background

    4. Original Bank book (we will get the letter from the bank together with our staff)

    5. 43,000 baht total fee (to be collected in cash)

    6. Proof of address such as rental agreement or utility bill (for the certificate of residence)

You are being seriously ripped off, get yourself to Pattaya, 18000 to 22000 baht depending on what agent you use.

  10. There are numerous Visa Agents who claim they will supply you with an O Visa then the 1 Year Extension of Stay irrespective if you have had the required money in the bank for 3 months, is this 'legal' ? The fees range from 15000 to 20000 baht. I always thought you had to visit Immigration personally ?

  11. The only place you can apply for a OA visa is at an embassy or consulate in your home country or country of legal residence.

    s

Apologies for the twenty questions, so how do I extend my Visa for another year in December, Pay an agent again or is it straight forward ?

Not need for an agent to apply for an extension of stay. They are easy to do.

You will need to show 800k baht in a Thai bank for 3 months or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

What documentation do I have to complete ?
