If you know the difference, why refer to an extension of stay as a visa? A visa cannot be extended. A single entry is 'used' on entry, a multi entry expires on the 'enter before' date. Read the forms you complete, and you'll understand it's a 'permit' of stay you apply for.

Visa exempt to Non-O, "in Chiang Mai"
Liquorice replied to Captain Monday's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No, it's stated in 5.3 of the requirements, "Evidence of foreign currency fund transferred to Thailand". VE-TV to Non O Retirement.pdf -
Well, you have now!
-
Over 3K posts and you still believe you extend your visa. 😭
-
Are you applying for the extension based on Thai spouse or retirement? If Thai spouse do not advise Immigration, you are separated as the marriage must be dejure and defacto. Your husband should also be in attendance.
-
Short 30/60-day extensions are only applicable to tourists, not Non Immigrants. (Unless married to a Thai). If your extension application is refused, you'll be given a 7-day extension stamp to leave the Country and start over again.
-
That's one way to look at it, the other way is that the farang either didn't know the law, and/or too lazy and left it to others, but ignorance is not an acceptable excuse.

Who is exactly responsible for filing the TM30, why foreigners have been fined for non-compliance, has been discussed many times on this forum. Section 38 of the Immigration Act states it's the responsibility of the Housemaster, Owner, or the Possessor of the property are responsible. The 'Housemaster' is defined in section 4 as being; “ House Master ” means any persons who is the chief possessor of a house , whether in the capacity of owner , tenant , or in any other capacity whatsoever , in accordance with the law on people act. Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) ENG.pdf

No. There are many Thai who own several domestic properties, but they of course can only be registered in one house book, meaning the house books that they have for other residential properties do not have their name in them. However, they will be named on the Chanutes of the other properties. If your landlord could explain the problem to Immigration, I'm sure they could inform him what form of documentation they'll accept. If a TM30 has never been previously filed, expect a fine.
-
Then you need the Father's house book and the Chanute as proof he owns the land the house occupies. You could also have the landlord speak to Immigration concerning the problem.

Non B to Non O Issue / Advice
Liquorice replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You need to read the whole thread you quoted. The OP of that thread (scoutman360) was not successful, he stated he was refused an extension based on retirement, and told he must exit the Country and obtain a Non O at CW. Page 2, posted Wednesday 6th March. Exactly as I've been saying! -
6M multiple entry tourist visa
Liquorice replied to jaxon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Depends on the requirements of the Thai Embassy you're applying at. Thai Embassy DC requests an outbound flight ticket; https://washingtondc.thaiembassy.org/en/page/trsingle-entry Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format): Passport Biodata Page or Travel Document (Must be valid within 6 months from travel date) Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay) Flight itinerary to Thailand and depart from Thailand. The itinerary must include the applicant's name, travel dates, airports, and flight number Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand. The Thai Embassy in London only requests flight ticket to Thailand. https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/84256-tourist-visa?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&menu=5d6636ce15e39c3bd000733c For Multiple Entries Multiple entries tourist visa, please click here A current passport with validity of over 6 months beyond the date of application A completed application form Two (2) recent photos of the applicant Original bank statement of the applicant showing a balance of at least £5000 (for 6 months) or a print out with official stamp of the bank A letter from the applicant's employer If you are self-employed, you self-assessment and a company registration document are required. A photocopy of the confirmed air ticket to Thailand A photocopy of the hotel reservation confirmation in Thailand Even then, there is no restriction on what date the return/outbound ticket should be dated. If you're applying for the METV then presumably you're looking at staying 6–9 months, then in most cases returning home, so what's the issue with providing an outbound ticket for the end of your stay. -
Non B to Non O Issue / Advice
Liquorice replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As is the Non B, which is for Business/work. The 'O', stands for 'other', meaning those who entered Thailand for any activity not listed in 1-14 of section 34 of the Immigration Act. Section 34 : aliens entering into the kingdom for a temporary stay may enter for the below listed activities ; 1. Diplomatic or Consular Missions. 2. Performance of official duties. 3. Touring 4. Sporting 5. Business 6. Investing under the concurrence of the Ministries and Departments concerned. 7. Investing or other activities relating to investing subject to the provisions of the law on investment promotion. 8. Transit journey. 9. Being the person in charge of the crew of a conveyance coming to port, station , or area in the Kingdom. 10. Study or observation. 11. Mass media. 12. Missionary work under the concurrence of the Ministries and departments concerned. 13. Scientific research or training or teach in a Research Institute in the Kingdom. 14. The practice of skilled handicraft or as a specialist 15. Other activities as prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations The OP can ask, no harm in trying, but in my experience from those I know who were teachers on a Non B, then retired, Immigration stated they couldn't change the 'reason' for an extension until they ended their current permission of stay by leaving the Country and obtaining a Non O, the purpose being Thai spouse/family and retirement. In fairness, I have previously read reports of those successfully changing the 'reason' of their extension to retirement when they entered on a Non B visa, but not since 2019 when Big Joke stuck his nose in and made a few changes to the then existing Immigration orders. Since that time the consensus of Immigration has been if you want to apply to extend your stay based on retirement, then get the correct visa type. That being the Non Imm O, although Immigration orders still simply state Non Immigrant status. -
Non B to Non O Issue / Advice

bigt3116 means if you left the Country then rentered visa exempt, choosing to apply for the Non Imm O at local Immigration (rather than a Thai Embsaay/Consulate), the only financial requirement is that the 400K must be in a Thai bank account only on the day of application. Procedure and requirements for Non O as I previously posted; VE-TV to Non O Spouse.pdf The requirement for the 400K to be seasoned in a Thai bank account for 2 months only applies to the application for the 1-year extension of stay. -
Non B to Non O Issue / Advice
Liquorice replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Immigration will not allow you to change the reason of the extension to Thai spouse or retirement when you entered with a visa specifically for the purpose of business/employment. Just as they won't allow you to change the reason to Thai spouse when you enter on a Non Imm O-A visa, which is specifically for retirement. They'll tell you to go out and obtain a Non O first. There is no written procedure to change your visa status from type B to type O. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/issuing-and-changing-type-of-visa/ -
Non B to Non O Issue / Advice
Liquorice replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To the best of my knowledge, Savannahket is the only local Consulate that will issue the single entry 90 day Non Imm O visa based on Thai spouse WITHOUT any proof of funds. -
@Sea Traveller Firstly, forget any implied tax implications, as it wouldn't apply to the situation you describe anyway. You basically covered your alternative options to stay long term in Thailand, although I could suggest another option that would allow staying for almost 5 months without depositing any funds in a Thai bank account, that said I think it's always good practice to have funds in a Thai bank account if staying long term to cover any emergency medical expenses. Obtaining and entering Thailand with a Non Imm O visa based on Thai spouse from the Thai Embassy in Stockholm would grant you a stay of 90 days. Correct that that visa is stamped as 'used' on entry, but the granted 90-day permit of stay is separate and valid. You could apply for a 60-day extension to the 90 days granted on entry to 'visit Thai spouse' towards the end of that 90 days, (1,900 BHT), which would allow you to stay for a total of 150 days, Good sense to keep funds in a Thai bank account though, in case of emergency. If you applied for a 1-year extension of stay based on Thai spouse, although 400K THB is required to be in a Thai bank account for 2 months prior to submitting the extension application, once the application is approved, you can immediately withdraw that 400K THB and use as living expenses for the remainder of your stay. Correct. Extensions based on retirement can be approved the same day while you wait. Extensions based on Thai spouse have to be approved at regional level, which can take 30 days. The so called 'extra' documents for extensions based on Thai spouse, is actually a few photos, a Kor Ror 2 or 22 and 2 copies of all documents. If that constitutes hardship, how do your friends manage to make it to a bar unaided. I'm assuming you married in Thailand?

what visa do I need?
Liquorice replied to billybog's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What you want is the standard Tourist visa, which is offered in either as a single entry or multiple entry. The difference being the validity of the visas during which time you may enter Thailand and the fee. You require the multiple entry Tourist visa as listed here: https://washingtondc.thaiembassy.org/en/page/trsingle-entry All Thai visa applications from the US are now applied for online at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ Open the link, then click on 'Which visa type should I apply for'. Complete the details using the drop-down boxes, selecting the visa type as 'Tourist' and the purpose as 'Tourism/Leisure'. You'll then see the Tourist visa option of a single or multiple entry, which you want. Go back to the home page and create an account. You can then apply for the ME Tourist visa, following the instructions and using drop down boxes where applicable, and upload the required documents. You no longer send your passport, once your application is approved you'll be sent a visa via email, which you print off and keep in your passport. -
Non O dependant visa
Liquorice replied to expatocean's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To be precise, you originally had a Non Imm O visa granting you Non Immigrant status and a permission of stay for 90 days. You have since been extending that 'permission of stay' as the dependant of a Thai child. You can change the 'reason' for the 1-year extension of stay application to 'retirement', but must be able to meet the financial requirements. The current financial requirements are here; 35-2561 (2019 (changed clause 2.22 of 327-2557 ENG.pdf -

Non B to Non O Issue / Advice
Liquorice replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As already posted you'll have to leave Thailand and obtain a Non Imm O visa first, before proceeded to apply for a 1-year extension based on Thai spouse. You have a number of options: 1. Re-enter visa exempt will grant a stay of 30 days, which you can extend for a further 30 days and an additional extension of 60 days to visit Thai spouse. You can then apply for the Non O status at local Immigration but have at least 15 days permission of stay remaining (21 days at certain IO's). For the Non O based on Thai spouse application, the 400K funds are only required to be in the bank on the day of application. Procedure here: VE-TV to Non O Spouse.pdf The 400K THB is only required to be on deposit in a Thai bank account, your sole name, for 2 months prior to submitting the 1 year extension application. 2. Perhaps simpler, apply for the single entry Non Imm O visa from the Thai Consulate in Savannahket. No proof of funds required for the single entry. On entry, you will be granted a stay of 90 days, which can be further extended by 60 days to visit Thai wife. You can then directly apply for the 1-year extension based on Thai spouse as soon as your 400K funds have seasoned for 2 months. It may assist if you post at which IO you use in case of abnormalities due to being a rogue office. -
Nope, sorry, you're mistaken. Assuming you obtained a new passport in Thailand then left with overstay, then your visa status was cancelled, and you didn't have any permission of stay to transfer as you were on overstay. They merely transferred your old passport details into the new passport and presumably an overstay stamp.
-
Shouldn't need copies of anything Jack. They merely transfer stamps from old to new, noting original entry date to Thailand and the visa type (Non O) and the current permission of stay date stamp. Did mine just a few months ago, no documents other than the form requesting transfer and old passport, no fee.
