    so 3 back to back tourists = 180 days plus 60 non-visa = 240 days?

I think it may change the kind of visas people are asking for now that all g7 visitors can stay for 2 months without the need for a visa.........couple this with some tourist visas and the visa runners, who won't show up for another month.....looks like a busy time for immigration. i hope they are all well versed in ALL the new regs!

G7 citizens can stay for 30 days X 3 without a visa, not 2 months as you have stated, I am currently on my 3rd 30 days & will require to get an Non Imm 'O' visa in Laos at the end of july

Which border crossing do those rules apply to? Certainly not

The Laos part 'might' be a clue, just saying ;-)

  2. You're still going to need to get a tourist visa if you want to stay (for example) 40 days as I can't see the airlines letting you fly without a valid visa.

you evidently have not read the OP

I have read the OP. I'm saying that even though Thai immigration may now have the ability to give you a 30 day extension it doesn't necessarily mean that airlines are going to let you board their aircraft unless you have a visa that is valid for the length of your stay.

I flow in on May 2nd on a Jet Airways, India plane with only a one-way ticket, no visa & only 3,500 Baht in my pocket, I was never asked about onward travel plans or how I would support myself during my stay, that throws your statement out the window if you ask me....

  4. For me no witnesses ever. Just a letter from local police for the first one.

Same copies, photos and that includes the map. Income affidavit cost me1550 baht for this years extension but it would be the same for retirement.

You will not get a multiple entry non-o unless you are 65 or over in the UK unless you get it based upon marriage,

or have Thai dependence IN Thailand.

  5. I have just gone through the whole process to become the legal parent by Thai law to my 2 children. I am not married and have been with my long term Thai partner for about 9 years.

I contacted an International law firm in Bangkok to ask how much the process would cost me going through the court system, I was quoted around 85,000 baht for each child (not including additional fees for correspondence ect...) absolutely outrageous amount. So I decided to visit a few local law firms in my town, the first one had never done the process before so I moved onto the second law firm. They spoke limited English but that was not a problem as my Thai girlfriend translated anything myself or the lawyer could not understand. He quoted 20,000 baht for both children (10,000 baht per child). That was the price for everything from start to finish, no hidden charges.

The first step was for the lawyer to contact the local juvinille/family court where we had a meeting arranged to meet with the equivilant of a welfare/social worker. Myself, my girlfriend and my children had to attend along with my girlfriends mother. First my girlfriend and I were interviewed, they asked what employment I did in my home country, yearly income, how long I had been with my girlfriend ect ect.....they asked my children informally if I was their dad and a few other questions. After that my girlfriends mother who had been waiting outside was interviewed alone and was asked similar questions to what my girlfriend and I was asked. Everything matched up so that was fine. All in all we were there for about 2 hours in total.

Next we were given a court date which was about a month away. My girlfriend, children and I along with a close friend of my girlfriend who could vouch for us that we were telling the truth to the court attended court with my lawyer. The judge asked me around 20 questions relating to my income in my home country, where my children were born, dates of birth ect ect....no akward questions, asked my girlfriend the same questions and then her friend and that was it. About 3 weeks later the clerk of the court phoned my girlfriend to say the judged had approved and signed the relevant paper work and we collected it.

Last thing, with paper work signed by the judge in hand we went to our local amphur office, presented it to the lady at the desk, in less than 2 hours they had changed my son and daughters names by law to my surname on their birth certificates and various other bits of paper and I am now the recognized legal father of my 2 children by Thai law.

(P.S. my son who had just turned 7 years old AFTER the court case even got his first Thai I.D. card with my surname all in the same afternoon). The local amphur were very efficient and friendly. The whole process was painless and took about 2 months from start to finish.

I believe I will also have to go through a similar process as you have done, except that my surname name is already on my 4 month old son's birth certificate (not sure if that will make any difference), as far as I am/was aware I am not legally recognised by Thai law as the boy's father until I am legally married to his Thai mother, so the information you have provided above is a bonus for me, yes I do have plans to marry her in the near future (within a year say) but there are a few things I need to do before we go down that road. I would greatly appreciate if you could provide me with (in a PM) the details of the law firm you used to do this for you, thanks muchly ;-)

  6. My Thai wife predicted Germany to become Champion. She is great in football. 90 % of her predictions are right. She even names the player who will hit the net. Amazing.

    Fortunately (?) she doesn't bet.

If my wife was THAT good, I would start testing her on the next EPL season, start off small like 100Baht (token bet) per game, once profits had hit something like 10,000Baht then increase the stalk money to about 500Baht per game, because by now your using the bookies money you won & not your own ;-)

  7. I have stayed in Thailand for 1 and a half years on tourist visas in the past (an indefinite tourist) without working here. I am now on an education visa as I am studying Thai. My girlfriend is pregnant at the moment and I am worried about when my education visa runs out. I make enough money back home to support us but not to qualify for a non O visa. What can I do? I realize they won't have any sympathy for splitting up a young family and I am worried I am going to have to leave my wife and young child here. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Option 1) Well, you can MARRY your girlfriend then start doing the paperwork to take her and your child back to your home country.

You may have to move in with family back in your home country - but it can be done. Luckily - as you said, you make enough money back home while sitting here in Thailand. Chances are, there is additional public assistance in your home country to help you get your life together.

Option 2) Get MARRIED, then go back to your home country, save up enough for the non-O requirement (400k baht) then return. Might take up to a year and a couple months (depending on what you claim you already earn) - but staying with family will help minimize your spending while trying to save.

Additionally - taking a year away from your wife and kid might seem like forever - but military folks do this ALL THE TIME. It can be done.

    No he does not.

He can get a non-O visa just because he has a Thai kid. Getting married is not required.

He just needs the 400k OR can prove he has 40k per month income.

He can also get a an education visa.

If he is rich, he can get an Elite card.

    MANY options.

And this is exactly what I shall be doing in two weeks time, crossing the border into Laos at Vientiane, going to the Thai Embassy there with evidence of having a 5 month old Thai son & earning 40k+ per month in the UK, to get a 3 month Non-O Visa, after two months of said Visa I will apply at Immigration in Nong Khai for a 12 month extension, job done, not a tourist & not working illegally

  8. i stop being suprised here years ago....whistling.gif ..buy a legal visa from a THAI consul (WHO HAVE THE POWER TO REFUSE) and then be refused entry at teh border...idiotic to say the least

It's again worth remembering that possession of a visa doesn't guarantee the holder admission to a country, it's the Immigration Officer at the Border that has the final say, this applies to most countries in the World, including the likes of the UK, the Schengen Area and the United States of America.

yeah, i agree with this. i had a nightmare trying to get my wife back into the UK after we went to Paris for a weekend last year. she had valid UK and Schengen visas too. took 15 minutes of talking before they would let us enter

15 minutes of talking? WOW, you must of been falling asleep on your foot, did you ask for a chair & glass of water because of this looong wait....?

  9. Tip to enforcers ... dedicated tourism "politeness" monitors at the baht bus queue at South Pattaya Road going to Jomtien. As I've noted before that becomes a cauldron of rudeness and sometimes even violence during the high season.

My thoughts exactly. Day before yesterday I watched as the baht bus drivers yelled and poked at people to scrunch closer in the back of truck before it left. Their greed to stuff as many sardines into the can was not only rude, but unsafe. The rear of the truck was just about touching the street after four more hangers-on completed the load. I watched and walked.

There is a hat wearing, Thai lady there that is the epitome of hate and venom. She yells, make faces and aims rude remarks towards foreigners that ignore her demands. She truely needs "help".

The Second Road/Pattaya Tai (South Road) Songtaew stop for trucks going to Jomtien is a powder keg waiting for the right match to arrive. More than once, I have gotten off and walked a block to catch a less crowded, more cordial baht bus.

This mob of drivers seems to believe that the changes taking place will not affect them. I believe it's just a matter of time before the Marines arrive.

    Screaming and poking is violence??

What exactly was he screaming ? Or you do not speak a word of Thai , for all you know he was telling people to move closer but Isaan style, which is high tone.

Pattaya public transport is by far better and cheaper than Phuket or Bangkok .

Pattaya taxi drivers are by far nicer than in Phuket or Bangkok .

Meter taxi for town as little as Pattaya ? Some people need a reality check.

Pattaya is tiny to have metered taxi

Walking Street is NOT ALL of Pattaya, I think you need to get out more to have a proper look around....

  10. Why did the OP complete a form TM7? Which is a the form for Application For Extension Of Temporary Stay In The Kingdom and not a TM47, which is the form For Alien To Notify Of Staying Longer Than 90 Days?

It appears that the officer done the OP a favour by printing out the correct form TM47 for the OP. It is not the duty of the officer to complete forms on the applicants behalf and it appears asked for a small amount of money for his favour and to help towards the cost of administrative charges, paper and copying charges.

My advice to the OP is; check your facts first and ensure all is correct when visiting Immigration, then there should be no problems and misunderstandings.

And you obviously can not read properly....

"I had my TM47 and passport copies ready in my bag"

My bad, OP now corrected first post, where's that bloody delete button....

  11. • Emergency passports are issued on a case by case basis, with validity period of three months up to one year, depending on circumstances. You will need to present evidence, such as a flight itinerary, to prove you have a genuine need for an emergency passport. Emergency passports require a minimum of 24 hours to process. We are prohibited from adding additional visa pages to an emergency passport.

Ah - ok smile.png That was the link that came up when googling 'lost passport us embassy bangkok'. I would assume that a lost passport is considered an emergency passport, when overseas.

A lost passport can ONLY be considered as LOST, then if you are overseas when said passport is 'lost', you can apply for an Emergency Passport at your Embassy to allow you to be able to fly to your home country in order to renew your 'lost' passport....

  12. Job well done, there are too many scumbag Russians, that are mafia, here in Thailand, time to rid them all once and for all clap2.gif

Ban them and stop giving them visa-facilities...NOW!

Now this is only a theory of mine, but recently Thailand have started getting stricter on 'certain' visa's, well Russia was recently a member of the G8, until they were kicked out over the Crimea crisis in Ukraine, so now all citizen's of members of the G7 countries (UK, USA, Canada, France, Italy, Germany & Japan) are having no problems regarding Visa's, but now Russian citizens are, hmmm food for thought, I'm just wondering if Thailand is using the fact that because Russia was kicked out of the G8 it gives them 'an excuse' to give Russians a hard time, or better still sending them home

  13. In OP it says fake American passport, in one of the links you provided it says fake Korean passport

Is it hard to tell which passport belongs to which country?facepalm.gif

    You obviously can't read properly....

"before returning on a fake Armenian passport"

    NOT American passport....

  14. Thanks for the reassurance everyone.

Just done after looking at the sticker reading January and thinking it was June.

Paid 1400 baht including a 70 baht fine for being late, all done at the drive through service. God I love Thailand.

And you did not even have to use your driver's licence to drive the unlicenced car through the drive through.smile.png

Funny thing was, in the past 6 months we've been all over the place in the car - down to Hua Hin a few times, Rayong and we run it daily all across Bangkok. Never pulled over, never even a roadblock.

Today, after paying the tax, I jump back on Vibavadee-Rangsit back towards Din Daeng and there was about 8 or 9 coppers pulling over people on the highway. Drove straight through!

Might want to check if there is a Buddha sat on your roof.... ;-)
