  1. You can't obtain more than 15 days with visa on arrival.

I recommend that you go back at the consulate with tickets and bookings and insist for a tourist visa asking to talk with a senior manager. Nothing bad can derive because they are not giving you any service. Sometime you get better results applying with a travel agency the specializes in Thailand tours.

If you that will not get you the visa, then after arriving you will need to travel to Vientane or Savannakhet Laos to obtain a tourist visa.

He can not get Tourist Visa from Laos, he is Indian.

Restrictions apply: Indian have to apply in home country or country of residence.

In most cases, since OP can show ticket Thai Immigration will extend a visa or arrival by further 7days, cost thb1,900.-. However I can not say if he has a problem during check in.

  2. Interesting! Since the ED visa is not only issued to learn Thai, What happens to the Brit that is enrolled in a Japanese course or the Japanese person that is enrolled in an English course?

You need a letter from the language school that shows the student is learning another language than Thai. My friend who is learning intermediate English in Pattaya was asked to carry the letter with him every time he leaves the kingdom. The immigration can not deny any student learning other languages.

Yes, they can deny, revoke your permission of stay for any reason they like.

  3. They said i will be refused in other countries because of my thailand refusal stamp. They dont want to let me fly anywhere else than france.

I think they're lying to you. I could be wrong but it's worth double checking.

why you keep questioning the OP.

Over the last couple of month we had many enquiries from people stuck in Airport, majority of people were send back home as the airline refused to take them back from the place they came from.

Example you fly Cambodian Air from Phnom Penh, than the representative of that Airline will arrange a ticket with a "friendly" Airline to return to your home country. Immigration does not care and again, in most cases, the people had to pay for their own ticket.

I think Thai Immigration is looking to much YouTube, they try to copy Border Security of UK, Australia or US and shoot themselves in the leg.

  4. I think the money is drying up at the Sadao/Danok border and now it's a headcase as a result. Stay away from that border.

not only that border. While it's bad for business, I must LOL about the situation.

Thai Immigration changed the rule by themselves, now they start wondering that no people are coming anymore, Bosses probably still requesting a certain "amount" and IO have to be creative to fulfill the targets.

At other borders IO create "special" VIP lines, even if there are no other travelers, certain nationalities are requested extra cash to be admitted, etc.

IMHO, IO can get a lot of cash back from travelers if they scrap the current enforced limitation on visa exempt stamp. On the other hand the changes to grant also visa exempt stamp holder a , one time, 30 day extension was a good move to keep money in the country. Just a thought to keep people coming or moving back to Thailand from other destinations.

  5. "Travelers who arrived in Thailand on a Visa Exemption stamp can still go to Mae Sai up to 2 and sometimes 3 times. Non-Immigrant Visa or Tourist visa holders with remaining entries on their visa can exit and enter Thailand as before."

This quote is from a web page of one Chiang Mai based Visa Run Company.

    Sometimes google can help.

I learnt that there are at least 2 companies in Chiang Mai to provide service, so OP can call them and let them know his concern and ask advise from professionals.

  6. I have not seen any reports of anybody doing a border hop for a new visa exempt entry after getting a 30 day extension. Without that I cannot give you a reliable answer,

You might try contacting the sponsor of this forum that does border runs for info. http://www.thaivisaservice.com/

This is interesting. My take is it's going to be risky. He would be better off applying for a tourist visa after crossing the border.

    What is risky?

We also checked other companies as far as Chiang Mai and all, including us, can confirm that , at least ,ONE Visa Run and entering with a visa exempt stamp will be no problem.

If OP requires a longer stay than than a trip to Vientiane or Savannakhet for a Tourist Visa can be considered.

Some people like the overnight stay in Vientiane while others prefer the one day trip to Savannakhet.

For safety reason we do not offer one day trips to Savannakhet.

  7. At the moment I can only compare our figures for the daily run from Bangkok to Cambodia year on year.

In the past each company had its strength in certain area and some catered for specific nationalities only.

I can not speak for companies based in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui or Pattaya, but figures from Bangkok I think I can fairly judge and summarize as we know the figures from 4 border post, Kanchanaburi, Aran, Ban Laem and Ban Pakkard, there are also specific groups like Laotian and Vietnamese who organized themselves, which are down by at least 50% too, but not included in below summary.

In our case : For the Daily Runs the total on customer using the our service during Monday to Friday is down 50-70%, the weekend trips ,Saturday n Sunday is down 80-90%.

Obvious the number of people to Laos for Visa application went up, but only about 30%. People applied Tourist Visa, ED-Visa and Non B-Visa, but it did not cover for the loss of people.

The 30day extension on visa exempt stamp did not effect our business as our business in the past were 70-80% repeat customer, may be the Tourist Centres in Pattaya, Samui or Phuket are affected, BTW Russian n Vietnamese get only 7days, even when present a Ticket.

Here some rough figures, you will be surprised how "few people" did Visa Runs, compared with the millions real Tourist Arrival. Back in May when crack down was started and press has released many wrong statements is was portrayed as booming business, funny enough, none of the reporters ever called us or referred to us,so I wondered from who they got the info from.

Before Crack Down all 4 borders reachable from Bangkok, weekday 100-120people/daily, weekends 300people/daily = roughly 4600people per month, roughly 55000people per year, operators from Bangkok are not affected by Tourist Peak or Low Season, the figures are pretty stable throughout the year.

Compare this to the actual "claimed" tourist arrival and you see that these numbers are peanuts, yet Immigration seams to be obsessed with Visa Runners.

  8. Just happened. Pattaya Immigration refused extend 30 day entry visa with additional 30 days. Two separate officers said only 7 DAY extensions possible.AUS PP.

Usually you have to prepare flight ticket. May be take a print out of their own visa rules, valid after 29th August.

Bangkok give 30 days extension if extend a visa exempt stamp , only Russian and Vietnamese get 7 days.
