There has been a recent interest in developing the land near to where I live on Koh Phangan. What are the laws concerning plants along the coastlne?

I'm trying to gether documents to pass on to the owner of the land, who is in Bangkok, about the importance of the trees along the shore.

My bay has a small coral reef that is still alive, but struggling and is lined by Tien Trees.

Some of the oweners people came down and got talked into a crazy party scheme by some party organizer. So they cleared part of the land and cut down some trees so the party goers could see the bay. Thankfully the party failed, not one person came, but they cut some trees along the beach. Two being Tien Trees and some others that I don't know the name of. I'm hoping the trees will just grow back as they are the only thing keeping the beach from not eroding more then it all ready is.

I wish to present these people with some kind of impact information in hopes that they don't cut more. I'm pretty sure all trees are on "the Kings land."

I've noticed that women who are store owners, restaurant owners and the like, at least in Southern Thailand, say Krap. Also, saying Krap to young male children.

I all ways just took it as a way of indicating that you are speaking to the boss.

I speak enough Thai to get me where I need to go. I will just take the mini bus to the city and go from there. I have a friend who is from that village and will give him a call to find out if he can direct me to the correct mini bus location.

Is it fairly easy to get a bus/mini bus from Khanom to Lansaka? Lansaka is in Nakon, in case you don't know that all ready.

The food in the resorts and bungalow? I've found pretty much all over Thailand that the bigger and more expensive the resort the less likely you are to get a really good meal. The last time I checked, a number of businesses were for sale in the area. Is that still the case?

Just sent off the required paperwork and got my pass port back with stamp less then a week.

If your going to be there for a few months, check yourself in to one of the many guest houses in Thongsala. Wifi all over the place there. You can buy a card if you want access in your room or just go to one of the many cafes for free. Get a bike and spend a few days looking for your perfect spot. There are lot's of choices and you can get a house for far less then renting out a bungalow in a resort. The only down fall to the house is less likely to have internet access, but alot of areas you can just buy a card to have access via WIFI.

Thanks Siam2007 I won't buy a voucher as I'm just not certain of my plans and if I even get the car or not. Do you have an international drivers license? I know if I rent a jeep on Samui or KP it's not required.

Yes, thinking about moving off the island. Not anytime soon mind you, but I want to spend some time checking out different areas. I'm wondering about the international drivers license. Do you think I need one?
