They are laughing at DTs ignorance. After all, he is the dunce who thought Finland was part of Russia, and is unable to read or understand his Daily Security Briefing. Even Dubya could manage that... -

By all means quote me. In what sense is this ad hominem? DT is being laughed at by high-end economists around the world. Read what the Economist magazine has to say. Check economic journals. DT is ignorant of the basics, and that is a hard. demonstrable fact, no two ways about it. Read up on this. Review the facts, Evaluate the information.Change your mind. You will be a better person for it. -
Economy Trump's Tariff Troubles: Thai Academic Sounds Alarm on Key Issues
novanova replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well-educated people avoid ad hominem arguments. Try evaluation... that way, you learn things, and avoid dogma prejudice. Meanwhile, as i said, many high-end, professional economists have used the "groceries" analogy to show how ignorant Trump is. Look this up. Review and evaluate the facts. Change your mind. You will be a better person for doing so. -
Economy Trump's Tariff Troubles: Thai Academic Sounds Alarm on Key Issues

Nobel-prize-winning economists (and many others) are using that example. Maybe they have no understanding of global trade. Read this: https://time.com/7274651/why-economists-are-horrified-by-trump-tariff-math/ You might learn something.- 179 replies

Economy Trump's Tariff Troubles: Thai Academic Sounds Alarm on Key Issues
novanova replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Trump is an oaf who doesn't understand high school-level economics. That's why every economist in the world (who is not a paid DT shill) is laughing at him. DT has a bizarre obsession with trade deficits. This has no basis in reality. If I shop at the supermarket, there is a trade deficit - they have my money. But I have the goods... where is the unfairness? It doesn't exist. The stupidity of DT's position can be seen in the Botswana tariffs. Their big export is diamonds. The big buyer is the US. Somehow, DT sees this as a great injustice, so he hit then with a 37% tariff. This is flat-out irrational, and everybody should stop pretending there is any sense behind DT's actions.- 179 replies

I ate recently at VN Garden, on Pratumnak Hill, at the back of VN Residence. https://maps.app.goo.gl/3MAkyRtmwA3VEK1DA The food is excellent (Western and Thai) and not expensive. I have never seen such well-presented dishes... the chef is quite an artist. Recommended. It's only small... 4 tables of 4 and one table of 6, so booking is advisable.

I mean, who believes anything in the main stream media The Murdoch press is NOT mainstream media. They were fined $740m for lying and dishonesty in reporting, and admitted in a court of law that they do not use fact-checkers. Reputable news sources (and there are many) use fact-checkers. -
My TGF is educated (MSc) and well-travelled. We eat Indian at intervals - she is a fan. Try: - New Indian Restaurant, Thappraya Rd, on the right in the section running down to the beach - Indian by Nature, Thappraya rd, next to Frasers.

Anti-vaxxers are so ignorant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Sabin Sabin developed an oral vaccine based on mutant strains of polio virus that seemed to stimulate antibody production but not to cause paralysis. Recipients of his live attenuated oral vaccine included himself, family, and colleagues.... Between 1955 and 1961, the oral vaccine was tested on at least 100 million people in the USSR, parts of Eastern Europe, Singapore, Mexico, and the Netherlands.... Sabin refused to patent his vaccine, waiving commercial exploitation by pharmaceutical industries, so that the low price would guarantee a more extensive spread of the treatment. From the development of his vaccine Sabin did not gain a penny, and continued to live on his salary as a professor. The Sabin Vaccine Institute was founded in 1993 to continue the work of developing and promoting vaccines

My TGF has a good job and her own apartment... but she has overloaded on clothes and kitchenware. What are some options for passing on this stuff... all reasonable quality. Preferably somewhere around south Pattaya/Jomtien.

Trump's line that he had to introduce tariffs because of a national emergency was flat-out dishonest. Democratic governments are required to follow due process. There is no left-right about it.

When religion doesn't work anymore, what is next in line? Conspiracies Religion has never worked. When religion gets the upper hand in a society, the result is invariably disastrous. The Dark Ages is an example. What happens when religion is discarded? An option is, evidence-based thinking (science). Prayers did nothing to help the millions afflicted with polio, smallpox, leprosy, diabetes etc. God could have clapped his hands and made them go away, but maybe he was busy with something more important... and, as a consequence, a great many people suffered. When the Enlightenment came, religion was exposed for the useless pack of lies that it is, and science was allowed to progress and benefit us greatly.

You are making a joke, yes? Quoting some nonsense written by silly old men is in no way evidence. You SAY that what we see constitutes evidence. You SAY that the cause of what we see is god. SAYING is not evidence, is is worthless, fact-free assertion. The purpose of EVIDENCE (observations and measurements) is to conduct an evaluation that others may reproduce. There is no fact-based, peer-reviewed evaluation on the existence of god (funny, that), so why do you make such a ridiculous, evidence-free statement? Even for a religious person, what you put forward is especially silly.
-
Sigh. Another poor individual who had their intellect pickled with the disease of religion when a small child. Do you have ANY supporting evidence for your assertions? Any FACTUAL reason for supposing a god exists? "It's what i was told when I was two" doesn't count. The bible is silly nonsense written by silly old men. That's why it's stuffed full of absurdities and ridiculous gibberish. Its purpose was to control the plebs. The only way the church can keep going is to indoctrinate small children. This is genuinely evil - it causes many people to be unable to think clearly. The faster the cancer of religion is eradicated, the better. Most people spend their entire lives creating out of a sinful heart and a corrupt mind their own image of God. Gibberish. There is no evidence for a god. None whatsoever.
-
Psalm 137:9: Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks. Yet again you are showing that you cannot understand the basics - a belief with supporting evidence is not in the same class as a belief with zero supporting evidence. You have to pretend they are the same, otherwise it would expose the nonsensical nature of your position. You are as right about god as you are about my "changing your usernames"... there is no evidence for either. I have not changed my username. You are absolutely correct: I dismiss assertions for which there is no evidence. Why have you repeatedly avoided the malaria subject? Because it exposes your position as untenable, yes? Over and over and over again you have had to avoid the fact - you have nothing to support your case other than "I believe". Feeble.
-
Au contraire! Religion and a "personal relationship with God" ARE the same thing - they are each the product of the corruption of the intellects of small children. This is a dreadful thing to do. You want to quibble about a few trivial details, while you are forced to ignore the elephant in the room - there is no case whatsoever in favour of "a god exists". All you can do is say "I believe". Pitiful. As a "personal believer", you operate under the delusion that you are being wise and selective in choosing the bits that you like out of the plagiarised nonsense that comprise the bible. Blasphemy! Since when are you the arbiter of the bible's authenticity? There was a time when you would have been put to death for that. As I said before, malaria kills about a million infants a year. God could fix that in a jiffy. He hasn't. Therefore: - god likes killing small children, or - god has stuffed up, or - there is no god Like all the other fact-free god-toadies, you want to hide behind an absurd "it's god's plan". Really? Tell me more about this plan. Explain to me how it's good/wise/beneficial to kill millions of infants and cause untold harm and distress. Bertrand Russell: "I should think his ethics highly-suspect, and should most certainly not think him worthy of worship." Confess! "I was fed a load of nonsense as a small child, and as a consequence, I have a lot of irrational points of view. To repair that would be a big job, and I'm not up to it right now."
