The application process has tightened up. Some who applied late last year were approved immediately but recent applications have required multiple applications. One friend applied 4 times before being approved. If your initial application is rejected (likely) then try again. Good Luck.

I was recently driving on a Highway in a country area. There were signs about every 5ks stating "Keep left unless overtaking". After seeing so many Thai drivers ignoring the instruction I asked my Thai GF why. She answered "They can't read" !! Enough said.

It is obvious that all countries will provide free vaccines for expats.

Attitaya Golf Course (previously Gold Canyon) in Lamphun is in excellent condition. There are 27 holes,
it's not busy and 600Baht for Green Fee, Caddie and Cart is a great deal.
Alpine and Highlands are CM's best courses so play them if you can.
Alpine have constant , short-term promotions .
Air quality will be <deleted> while you are here.

Apologies.....the 'Males Only' refers to only 1 room .

Not surprising that bookings are down. I just tried to book a room for 2 nights in March on their website. No rooms available !!! Either their website is stuffed or they are very busy. I'm guessing it's their website. They are eager to complain yet can't get the fundamentals right !

Because there are limits to how many returning Australians they can fit into the quarantine facilities, so they don’t want people traveling overseas unless it is essential. So if the OP tells them he is going as a tourist and will want to come back in 3 months as the title suggests I think the answer would be no. But, if he could show that it was for good, ie he has sold his house, car, etc, and he was not going to be coming back....that might change things ?
Agree with you .....but he only wants to come for a short time.

Even if you were successful, putting your young family though 2 x 14 day quarantines could prove troublesome .

Eventual success if you can prove you a long-term resident of Thailand. Failure if are not. The Aus Govt. is very strict on this point currently.
Hopefully the situation eases soon.
-
Under current arrangements you will need to prove to the Aus Govt. that you are 'normally' a resident of Thailand.
If not it is very likely your application will be rejected. Your Thai wife and (maybe) the kids have a chance . One friend has been approved after 4 applications over 4 months. He has previously been a Thai resident for many years . Another has reapplied after 2 rejections. Good Luck.

Only males are allowed in !!

I am making the same trip soon and have the same concerns. Nakhon Pathom seems like the way to go. I have taken that route previously with a group of us. Some took the Bangkok route and others came through Nakhom Pathom. Very similar times taken.

He meant to say 9990 Baht but said 999.Definitely not 'The Best Golf Promotion in Thailand"
-
Well at least this offer is not racist. It's sexist !!! p.s. How much is the fee for a Ladyboy (asking for a friend ) ??

999 Baht for 2 nights at a hotel and 2 rounds of golf ?? Send me the link please/

So....My Thai wife and I have spent the last month in the clear air down south in a non 'high risk' region. When we drive home to Chiang Mai I need to self-quarantine for 14 days and she is free to roam as she pleases !! Thai logic at it's best.

I think you should keep her on but make sure you are not around while she cleans.....less chance of her catching the Virus from you !

If you are so concerned why don't you ask the golf club if you can play without a caddie . Make sure you pay for a caddie anyway so as not to put her out of a job ! She is probably at far more risk than you.

If you take a taxi/car from the Laos side the advantages are that 1/ You don't need to haul luggage in and out of buses as they remain in the car and 2/ the driver will walk you through the Immigration process. Usually quicker as cars have a different route through Immigration to those travelling by bus.

If you arrive by air at 5.45p.m. and want to spend the night in Nong Khai or Udon Thani I suggest you get a taxi direct from the Airport to the Laos side of the bridge and clear Immigration. You can either get the 20 Baht bus over the bridge to clear Immigration on the Thai side and then get a tuk tuk to a Hotel in Nong Khai. If you want to stay in Udon Thani you can get a taxi after clearing Lao Immigration (before the Bridge) that can take you to Udon Thani directly and also assist with clearing Immigration on the Thai side. You have plenty of time either way.

VOA is easy enough. Not worth the extra $20 for an e-visa.

All major courses in CM have clubs for hire

You can change your current account to a duel account with your partner and retain it in your name only (for Visa purposes). She becomes a signatory so can access your account. Easy. I've done this.

400k in Thai Bank
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

My Thai defacto and I have a joint account with Bangkok Bank. The passbook has my name only listed but it is a joint account that either can sign to withdraw.
This covers concerns for Visa extensions and also alleviates concerns in the case of my death.
She can withdraw/transfer the funds if required.
Setting the account up was a case of 'not what you know but who'.
Our neighbor is a retired Bank Manager and helped with the process.
