  1. Roads are shocking. A previous poster stated that Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng is 3-4 hours !!!. More like 8 hours.

I once drove to Luang Prabang from Vientiane and the road had totally collapsed about 20ks short of LP.Took 4 days to get the car through (no alternate route).Good Luck

  2. Wow....that's a big increase.I left my car at CM Airport last month for 3 days and it only cost 600 baht in total. The attendant assured me it was a maximum of 200 baht a day. I might try parking in the Airport Plaza car park and getting a tuk tuk to the Airport next time if its now 700 baht a day

  3. I have a 12 month contract with my landlord on a house I rent. The contract expired a few weeks ago. Prior to the expiry date I notified

the landlord that I would not be renewing the lease but would remain a tenant on a month by month basis. He agreed. I have now found alternative accommodation and notified my landlord of my intention to move at the end of next month. He now states that he will not be returning the 2 month bond I paid because I did nor provide 3 months notice . There is no reference in the written contract to providing 3 months notice (or any notice).Has anyone had similar issues ? Is there any governing body that I can refer this (unlikely I guess) ?

Note- I even proposed that I stay rent-free for the 2 months instead of receiving the bond back . Negative response !!!

  4. The Laos Government will not recognize your marriage if conducted in Thailand. You will be treated as single if visiting Laos.

You will not 'legally' be allowed to sleep with your future wife in Laos if you marry in Thailand.

A Laos agent can arrange the documents for a Laos wedding for about $US 2000.It will take up to 12 months to arrange.

  5. My TGF worked in Israel for 12 months in 2012. She says that despite correct instruction on Health & Safety many Thais ignored instructions. For example....on flower farms where pesticides were used many Thai workers refused to use protective equipment and became sick.Suitable medical assistance was available but ignored.Basic accommodation included heating and cooling but was not used in many cases.
