Hopefully next week, irs.com/coronavirus should have a portal to enter one's bank acct info, before checks go out.
To avoid any confusion, it's irs.gov
And more specifically:

Thailand appears to have 7.4 TRILLION baht (US$ 226 Billion) in International reserves.
It's not my money, but I think they should just pay the 5,000 to everyone over 18. There is no doubt that many won't need it, but it makes sense to pump the money into the economy to try and keep things afloat. And calm.
Very myopic to accept only 7% of applicants. 93% are going to hold a grudge.

**but how about expats that file using an overseas address, have already filed for 2019, and did not fill out the direct deposit account info for refunds? do they cut a check to our overseas address, or do we call the irs?
Very good questions that I hope someone has an answer for.

I doubt the US Treasury will direct deposit to a Foreigner Bank Account or mail a physical check to an address in Thailand or any foreign address.
I agree, unfortunately.

Mnuchin just officially announced that the deadline to file is now July 15th. No info yet on whether or not we get an additional 2 months.
-
Does anyone know if this recently announced 3-month extension applies to the already existent 2 month extension expats already get? In other words, do we now have until September 15 to pay what we owe?
Also, will we be getting that $1,000 check from Steve Mnuchin if we filed with a foreign address? I'm guessing no. ????

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a skilled wordworker in Songkhla who could make something like this:
English a plus, but not a requirement.
Thanks! ????

I will be spending two days in Savannakhet getting a visa, and was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for how to go about exchanging currency.
I was there once in the past and I remember just doing it in regular shops and restaurants, but nearly always getting a rate that was very generous to the other party. I also can't remember if it's better to exchange THB or USD for LAK.
Any suggestions from those knowledgeable and experienced would be appreciated.
One thing that I can remember is not to exchange more than I'll need because it's essentially worthless once I cross back into Thailand.
Thanks! ????

Daily News said in their online headline: "The day will never come when I will apologize to foreigners".
I've been told by a reliable source that this is not an accurate translation.
Apparently, he actually said, "I will never apologize to that foreigner". And he's referring to the specific person who refused the face mask.
Apologies if this has already been posted.

And after looking at the application, a few more questions needing clarification:
Section 1
a. I'll be checking "Non-Immigrant Visa". Should I write "One Year, Multi Entry" next to it?
Section 2
a. For Present Address (Lao PDR), I guess I should put my hotel. Correct?
Section 4
a. Purpose of Visit, I'll write "Visit and support my wife". Is that enough?
b. Date of arrival in Thailand--Are they referring to the day I'll be entering Thailand after I get the visa? So, the next day.
c. Date of previous visit to Thailand--This would be the last Thai immigration entry stamp?
d. Duration of proposed stay. Should I put 90 days?
Section 5
a. Name, address and telephone number of guarantor in Lao PDR. I'll have to leave this one blank, I guess.
b. Name, address and telephone number of guarantor in Thailand. This will be my wife?
Thanks in advance. A lot of the above is probably common sense, but I just want to make sure I don't create any problems for myself.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

I have personal accident insurance; cost: 5,000 baht/year; coverage: 1,000,000 baht
Which company do you use? Have you made a claim? Were they helpful?

I'm trying to figure which type of insurance would be best for my particular situation, and I would appreciate any advice or insight from the experienced members here.
The background details:
- I'm early 50s, and currently live in Thailand on a Non-O. The Cigna expat health insurance I've had for the last few years expires this week, but it's expensive and their customer service is horrible, so I'm ready to move on.
- I plan extend my visa in March and will be in Thailand until May and then will go to Europe for approximately two months.
- I'll then return to Thailand for a month or two before taking a job abroad that will provide health insurance.
I was thinking about taking out yearly PA insurance for my time in Thailand and then travel insurance for while I'm in Europe. I know this won't give me proper health insurance (cancer, heart attack, etc...) but fingers crossed, that won't be an issue during the next 9-10 months. My main concern is about coverage related to my "living situation". I don't want an insurance company coming to me after an accident to say, "Sorry, you're not covered because of your visa status/where you live most of the year" or something like that.
I'm happy to provide more details as needed. Thanks in advance for your assistance. ????

This is the quintessential Thai news story.
A demoted govt. official is sent a warning by the mafia via gun shots to his car which his salary can't afford while he's having a 'massage'.

Thanks very much again for your informative replies.
I was just doing a search on the topic, and I saw that I'll need to bring my wife and various documents; including my lease. Is that accurate?
If so, that could be an issue, because I'm not on the lease, my wife is. ????

Or you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife. That would allow you to stay until May.
Sorry I missed this earlier.
Can I go to my local immigration office and apply for a 60 day extension before my O visa expires at the end of March? If so, that would be great because my schedule just changed slightly. Does the 60 days begin from the day you apply or the day your visa expires?
I assume the cost on this would be 1900 THB. Is that right?

Wife just came back to me and said, that she thinks the actor is from Isaan, and that perhaps he has played a lot of roles where his characters are not clever. So, that could be where this stems from.
-
Just asked my wife, and she's not aware of any Thai word similar to "na dtet" that means less than intelligent. She suggested that it might be from the Issan dialect. She also said that the actor in the post above is well known for being handsome, but not for being dumb.

I'm on a multi-entry Non-O based on marriage, that expires in about 3 weeks. I just returned to Thailand through Suvarnabhumi a few days ago which permits me to stay until the end of March. Due to my schedule this upcoming spring, it would be very convenient for me to stay in Thailand until mid April and not the end of March. So, I was thinking I would do a border run in 3 weeks to pick up the extra 3 weeks this spring.
If I were to do this, is it possible that I could be denied entry or get something less than 90 days?
I did a land border crossing about 3 months ago, and the IO wrote "land crossing" on my passport next to the stamp. This is the first time any IO has written this in my passport, so it's the primary reason for my concern regarding this possible upcoming land crossing. Needless to say, if there was a chance I would get fewer than 90 days or even denied entry, then I wouldn't do the land crossing.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies if the above isn't clear. I'll happily supply any additional info as required.

Does anyone have recent information on using a digital boarding pass at Suvarnabhumi?
I've got a domestic arrival at Suvarnabhumi on Bangkok Airways and need to rush slightly to make my international flight on Etihad. If I've checked in online and have a digital boarding pass on my phone, can I go directly to security at international departures? Or do I need to go to the Etihad counter? Or do I need to have a paper boarding pass?
Thanks! ????

Hi,
I'm looking to buy a car/baby seat online. Can anyone recommend a shop that has an online presence?
I've looked on Lazada, but was hoping for something I didn't see.
First time I've bought one, so any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
