  1. The plane depicted in the picture in not a 777 who has 3 rows of seats, more likely a 737 variety....

but for the local repotting the incident it's close enough.....

Its a 777, look at the overhead lockers not the seats. You will see that the left had side ones come down a lot lower (as the side of the plane wraps around) the right hand side ones are flat (and you can see the lockers for the other aisle.

Also a 737 would never carry 12 cabin crew, there aren't enough crew seats.

Still 72 passengers on a 777 don't Thai have a spare smaller plane that they could have used instead? They must have known weeks ago they would never full the plane.

i lot of times its a ferry flight to get the 777 back to bkk for other trips , the flight may have begun from another country , besides Jakarta , may have come from japan or china before that .

  2. hi all we will be moving to HH, and my wifes and my 90 report is due april 5th we will be there at new house on the 1st , so i live in Chiang Mai now. Is it much easier to do 90 day in HH than CM ? i could do it here before i go then just go do a change of address at the police station close by, do they take them there? And how hard is it to get a tuk tuk to take you to HH IM

there and back ? Any help on this would be great as we are new to IM in HH

    thanks

  3. greeting all

well here is my report on the im office at prom . now my wife and i had to both go in for our 90 day. we had to file in person because we started our new extension in november ,tried to do it on line but no go . so we got there around 8 30 am. ha ha well nothing has changed much got in back of the line and yes there where a lot there so we didn't get our 90 day Q number. and i am glad i did not . so i went to the visa agent next door . lmao ok so at 9 am we gave all our paper work to them. asked how much 300 bah each so thats $17.11 usd for us both took him ten min to get the new 90 day day and we where done .

Now it seems to me that' s a pretty good idea. so by 9 30 am we where done and on our to the mall and shop, so i ask you is it worth it to go in at 5 am sit there till 8;00 am when they start giving out numbers .( i have done that as well )and i must say this is much easier and less stress full . and then sit and wait some more depending on number to be called some times afternoon or pay 300 bah . be done in 10 min.

So as i looked back as we where leaving and the office at im, and it was packed with people waiting, all of that to save a small 300 bah which is just under 2 caramel macchiato venti 's at starbucks . and some country's like russia you can only use visa agents. so all in all i am now sold on using the agent next door . To me makes no difference , the whys and hows of it ,they provide a service for a good price. cheaper than most others. for what ever the reason and how its set up i could care less/ i value my time just as much . so that's it .

Let me see if I understand this -- you got into the queue at 8:30 am -- at opening -- and there were so many people ahead of you that by the time you got to the head of the line they had handed out all the queue cards for 90 day reports? How many queue cards did they distribute for 90 day reports? In the past it's been something like 180 repothey

they do 200 to my understanding

  4. Now i have not been to to many places in this country, so my question is .How many city's in Thailand have more than one i m office ? do the others like in Phuket , or Pattaya, have 2 ? i am sure Bangkok has more than one based on population, and now chiang mai has as well. i am sure this is a budget issue . You can bet on that.

times change .If you think this is hard try the us or some others .

All in all even though its not as good as it could be i think G4T and other agents are the wave of the future. Like all market;s the more agents the cheaper it will be as they compete for customers.G4T has done that all ready . And to be honest you have 4 options to do your 90 day report. mail . on line ,agent or in person . so where is the rub here? Its a matter of choice really. I use to do as many of you, go in early , wait most of the day, and if lucky be out and gone by 12 or if i got there late at 3. no matter if it was at the air[port im or the new one.

Old ways die hard some times. but as time goes by things change and improve . G4T and the rest provide a service. As long as you get what you want and not be stuck there all day , who really cares or why. Principal what is the real principal here? You want them to change for you ,remember we are all guest's here.

ok i am done , cant wait to here all the replies . )))

  5. It seems that this is the method (G4T agency) now being used by Chiang Mai immigration for coping with the lack of budget and ever
increasing invasions of expats into the city and that the expansion of premises and staff isn't going to happen.

    But you are missing something.

Immigration officials need to review everyone's documentation, approve it and sign it. They can do all this AND take care of the customers provided by G4T, which means that they could take care of ALL of the traffic -- walk-ins and G4T customers -- without G4T.

Do you see what I mean?

Immigration still has to process everyone's documents. If they can process, for example, 100 walk-ins and 50 G4T customers a day, they can also process 150 walk-in customers without the G4T agency. The process is the same, no matter where the documents originate.

Shouldn't immigration be, as is said of Justice, blind?

well when i was there for my 90 day the girl checking the paperwork in the 90 day line also works for G4T or helps out in there office, i am sure there staff behind the scenes who do some paper work that officers don't need to do.

  6. Just get My English Correct England and Australian

    Your statement

ok i just talked to G4T yesterday about that, they charge 2000 baht for extension plus you pay the 1900 so that's 3900 for that. 90 day is 300x4

wow that's good, will have some of that if its kosher,3200 bht for trouble free visas for one year, cheaper than a elite visa 16000bht for five years, plus 9500baht charges, can I sign up now.

To Have a O A Visa Extension for 1 year

    Is 3900 baht

When you do your 90 day reporting this cost is ?

    its 300 bah each time

  7. ok i just talked to G4T yesterday about that, they charge 2000 baht for extension plus you pay the 1900 so that's 3900 for that. 90 day is 300x4

Wasn't it 3,000 baht before? Or is that the figure for the extension and the re-entry permit?

well that is for 1 yr extension only , i didn't ask for the re-entry. there is never much of a line for that anyway and i always get the multi anyway

  8. Which makes the 3000 baht fee for the retirement visa seem a tad expensive, especially if all the paperwork is in order.

Does this 3000 baht fee include the cost of the extension?

The 3,000 baht fee at G4T is for the permission to stay another 365 days. It does not include the 90 day reports. I do not know if they give you a break on the cost of them if you extend with them.

I believe the other two major agents do.

I can not confirm that for both off them but Thai Assist does from what I have heard. They charge 1,500 baht for 4 of the 90 days and 1,000 baht if you use them to extend. Plus I have been told you can forget about it they will alert you when it is due.

As I said they have won. Look for similar agencies springing up around the country.

But why didn't you mail in?

i live in chiang mai city center, and i was planning on doing it on line like i did before , and the rules say you must mail in well before your 15 days, and from what i have read here they don't always send it back. i do believe if you live in the city limits you cant mail in anyway. never the less if they do it will be great. as for what did they really win ? most other countries it is much harder than this. i paid much more than this for my 3 yr russian visa and had to use an agent. so this seems like nothing at all. what is there to win here?

  10. I agree, the terminology is very convoluted and subject to misinterpretation. You're saying I don't have an actual visa anymore but only extending my stay? That's news to me. What a crazy system. Okay, so apparently what I did was secure an an extension of stay based on Retirement. The one governed by form TM 7. I'm glad we guests don't have to pass a quiz about Thai visa rules every time we apply for an extension.

What if you had gotten there at 10am? Did you see anyone get turned away? BTW, thanks for the helpful report. The airport office would have been so much more convenient, and I even put my money in banks at AP Plaza in case they decided I needed to return to my bank. Not to mention things taking two steps backwards after the move.

I think they shut down the queue at some point in the morning, especially if a certain number of people have already showed up. Arriving at 10 and you might be turned away and told to show up another day.

I was #1 to extend my retirement visa (because my agent had gotten #1 somehow...I actually showed up when the doors opened) in late October. Took less than 30 minutes to process getting my visa stamped into my passport but as pointed out previously, the snag now is that the immigration office chief has to sign the visa. So I was told to come back after 1 PM to pick up my signed visa. As long as the requirement for the head honcho to sign the visa is in place, it looks like this will continue to be an all day affair.

In the past, I was able to get both my retirement visa extension and a multiple entry permit in one day...and usually before noon. But in October I had to go back another day to get my re-entry permit the week after I got my visa. I arrived without my agent right before the doors opened and was #1 to get a re-entry permit. The downside was that I also needed a 90-day and there was a line of more than 100 people to get a 90-day. I was told to complete my re-entry permit process and get a new number for my 90-day. It took less than 20 minutes to get my re-entry permit and then I got my 90-day number...something like #120...and then the waiting began as I was told to come back in the afternoon. Ended up staying at the office and talking with another guy who was in the same boat I was. We finally got out of there at about 3 that afternoon. I think there were about 200 people there that day to get a 90-day. The week before when I renewed my visa, I think there was probably less 30 people there to get their 90-day and they all were outta there by noon. So much depends on how many people show up on a given day as to how long you will be there...and the number of people can obviously vary widely.

Also, be aware that if you sit in the extra seating area just off the main office, there is no speaker in there so you can hear your 90-day number being called. If you miss your turn as a result, you can still get processed but it's at the whim of the staff as to when.

well i to did mine in oct extention of stay based on retirement. i was #1 in the Q that day as well , with out agents used . what was funny was the look on the agents when the showed up that i was already there , with wife for same . we did the 1 yr extension and her 90 day report and 2 multi entry 's and was out by 3 pm done with all 3

  11. The op and first reply made my head spin.... but anyway, as was covered recently is a similar topic, buy a damn pumpkin, the warty ones are bright orange inside and taste....like pumpkin!... steam, boil, bake or microwave until soft, mash and add the sugar spices etc. and you just maybe will have the best punk pie. ever. ..... just up from the US consulate, across from the entrance to muang mai mkt. there are piles of big ones , cheap.

    thank ill try that .

  12. Ok well, this is a funny topic i know. Ok so i have been looking for well over a week for pumpkin pie filling , to make a pumpkin pie .With no luck .

Now Tops puts out the ad for it but there is non in stock , (what a shocker ) seems they are bad habit doing that, Rimping dose not have it either. So are we having a shortage ??? Last year here it was easy to get . Now here is the big question, you all been waiting for . Do you know where i can get some in this town ?? Before the big turkey day , or is it going be a cheese cake replacement.

If any of you know and have seen a can of it recently give me a shout. And if any of you work at Tops foods you might want to work on your ad planing and suppliers and logistics planner. Did this for many years . back in the day. Did so in the US.

    Thanks for all your help

  13. I was at Immigration Promenada this morning to observe the queue ticket distribution for retirement extensions. High season is here.

They are still distributing just 20 tickets despite no longer having to service appointments made with the defunct on-line queue system.

Today 17 people in the retirement queue did not receive a queue number and they were told to come back tomorrow. Of course, they weren't given a queue ticket for tomorrow -- they were just told to come back. Some of the 17 protested rather firmly and said it was their second or third time at coming out early to get a queue ticket. The people turned away had arrived as early as 5:45 am.

I talked with a visa agent waiting in the queue. She told me that she had been turned away the previous day. She wasn't one of the "Lucky 20" A Visa Agent! She had arrived at 5 am yesterday. She said 22 people were turned away yesterday.

They still just have ONE officer processing retirement extensions.

The earliest arrival today came at 3 am. He said they don't turn on the exterior lights at Promenada until 4 am. This is a safety problem.

The visa agents all seem to arrive at 5 am. For those who think the visa agents have an unfair advantage -- consider this: With the exception of G4T (the visa agency next to the Immigration Promenada office that doesn't seem to need queue tickets) all other visa agents have to send someone to sit in the queue with us "retail" customers. One agent per customer. If they have three customers doing retirement extensions that day, then they have to send three people to sit in the queues. And they don't send one person and two bookbags, either. I arrived early and saw the visa agents sitting together. As if by prior agreement, they all arrive around 5 am. even from different companies.

So, if you want to be certain to get a queue ticket for a retirement extension, it looks like these are your options during High Season:

    1. arrive at Immigration Promenada before 5 am

    2. employ a reputable visa agent, with an office, website, office in town to send someone to go get a queue ticket for you

    3. waltz in sometime in the morning and go see G4T, in the office next to the copy shop at Imm. Prom. They didn't have employees sitting in the retirement extension queue and several of the people turned away today when in to see them and were told that G4T could get them in for their retirement extensions today at 1 pm.

that is very correct, wife and i where there at 4 am and where first in both Q's before the agents even got there. and yes its very dark there, no lights but we had flash lights ,lol there really has to be a better way . seem's like they are trending to just agents. like russia . you can only get a visa threw an agent for that country. that would make there job easier and possible faster for all . who knows

  14. I asked about this yesterday when I was at Imm. Prom. and also talked with our condo's juristic person mgr. Both have the same story. When you leave the country your "housemaster" must file another TM 30 but not if you travel elsewhere in Thailand. Our condo office files the TM 30s on-line and does a "print screen" so we have a document to staple in our passport if asked to prove they've filed.

To me, the answer doesn't make sense.

To me, a lot of this makes no sense. I've rented the same townhouse for almost 5 years and I believe (but don't know for sure) that the owner filed a TM-30 when I started renting. Two weeks ago, I flew over to Burma for a few days and the owner wasn't even aware I was gone. So the owner is required to file a new TM-30 every time I hop over to Burma, KL, Laos, or wherever?

Yup, that's what they said. Both the officer at Imm. Prom. and our condo juristic person mgr is saying the same thing. Just for international travel -- when you're stamped out of the country, but not for in-country travel.

I agree, ti makes no sense.

    well that'

s funny ,my wife went to russia for 2 months. cam back did her 90 day and no one ever asked for anything.we also did our yearly the same day no one asked us for anything and our owner was in china ,at the time .our juristic office needs a ok from owners ,
