i got new job in london city, pays good etc , living here alone for time being. im still legally married to thai wife . my girl friend tells me she was to come to uk to stay with me, sounds ok to me .
what do i need to now do ? theres money in my bank, theres a good amount of wages going in every week etc. though i only live in digs now at moment ( shared house ) london really expensive for housing .
what way can i get her a visa ? bear in mind i am dual irish citizen and cab take her the EEA permit route application or not ? if things are too difficult then i will forget about it as when i was making visa for my first wife it was a pain in the arse and i really cant cope with too much more stress on top of this new job.
thankyou

thanks so , i can arrive in thailand with a 30 day stamp given at immigration, go to school, pay fee, enrol, then be given the ED visa , which does me for only 1 year ?
failing that , for visa based on marriage, i arrive in thailand with 30 day stamp, before 30 days are up i need tpo go to savannaket immigration ( pay a fee ) then get 90 days + 90 days + 90 days totalling 1 year. for this i need wifes house book / id card / marriage cert all copies ( she will not give me originals. ) plus where do i get these stamped since my wife will be in uk.
thanks joe

i want to be able to stay in thailand for a year at least, i am married to a thai and she has a couple of houses., maybe i can get a visa based on marriage ? advise please. what documents do i need considering my wife and i are seperated, though i do think she will give me a copy of all documents.
though i really want to get a good grasp of the thai language properly, so an ED visa seems to me the best bet. i like the fact of learning in school 4 days a week giving me a hobby and a purpose. here is the question. so do i just land in thailand with a 30 day stap, go to the school of choice sign up , pay the fee ( 23k) and take it from there, i think an ED visa does me 1 year or does it do me 15 month ?
thanks

thinking of booking a trip for few months, im undecided about going back to thailand i have basically seen it all and am just back 4 weeks ago from pattaya and hau hin . how does phillipines differ for nights out , beer etc , female company obviously and bars / nightlife, cost of budget rooms with wifi and maybe pool per month. also cambodia , ive been to sihanoukville once never been to phnom penn. anyone any advise on visa costs, rooms, food , etc etc.
i also want to ask, what is cost of a years visa stay in cambodia and phillipines.
cheers

knowing that a long term visa is not easy for me ( im 47 and married / seperated to thai national ) i cannot yet get retirement visa, im thinking about an ED visa ( i really want to learn the language proper after 14 years of sitting on my ass ) so maybe it is better to get a 1 year visa into cambodia, make sihanoukville my base and then if i want to holiday and go see friends in thailand mostly isaan region then i just take a short journey over border .
sounds viable plus i really like sihanoukville, it has all the things that thailand has to offer , cheap rooms, cheaper beer, and the visa i think is only around 200 dollars per year ( business visa ) correct me if im wrong.

Manners ?
a serious lack of them here on tv
-
if that is how they are starting out i do not want to even know what any response is going to be from them in times of need

i have at least 3 showers a day, wear flip flops and shorts, wear cotton shirts etc, use cool powder from 7/11, use a good anti persperant such as dove 48 hour protection.

was there ventienne 4 years ago, not much to do but its ok, few bars with relaxed atmosphere along mekong riverbank. 1 disco but i didnt stay there that long inside ( freelancers)
i would go back , though only for visa run and nothing else. cheap beer /hotels etc. i think visa to cross was 20 dollars or 1200 baht.
watch bringing anything back into thailand like cigs, drink , you will be stopped and caught if over limit.

i wont go into detail but no we are not. too many cases and incidents to list here , i just do not have the time. ok i will give you the last one, driving down a main rd and sober 6am in morning, a taxi driver with a farang and drunken thai girl on back, taxi driver comes from behind bangs into me , thai girl has been shouting and swinging a bottle of whiskey about, taxi driver loses balance and comes into me, causing my bike no real damage only a scratch, no damage to his, police are called, girl has a scrape on her ankle, she states farang fault, her english boyfriend even backs metyo cops, this happened at crossroads at soi buakao, lankee, dianna so there are cameras, i point to cameras telling police to look at them, cop shouts at me to ,stop my mouth now, ok i stop. i have to pay 2000 baht , 1ooo to taxi driver and 1000 to the whore who says she needs to go hospital.
is that enough ? theres more, awhole lot more

i live in pattaya on a budget and try to limit my spend on 1000 - 1500 baht per day excluding hotel or room where i can get a decent room for 10,000 thb per month. that is still a lot of money to me, take 1500 per day over 1 year , total cost inc room is = 650.000 thb = approx £12000 per year. then after all that count in your visa and transport costs for visa runs and associated fee,s . then count in your life and medical insurance .
my advice for what its worth is,
1. do not live in pattaya, go to hau hin or even isaan udon thani is nice and has everything you need up there.
2. buy your motorbike , dont rent.
3. if you need a car buy a small car LPG fuel.
4. stay away from the bar scene.
5. get a hobby and have some routine or purpose to your life whatever that may be like gym, gardening, golf, cycling etc and stick to it !!!
6. shop in local markets and cook yourself or eat from the thai food places and noodle stands, i love them and havent eaten foreign food in years . stay out of foreign resturaunts.
7. take your time and pick your ladyfriend wisely, take time, if shes a taker ( most are ) then get rid of her quick !!
thailand is not cheap. not for me anyway.
-
educate thai,s to get it into their heads that all foreigners are not rich, would be a start.
-
my 5 year old daughter was in the top 10 out of 100 babies when she was around 2 years old and that was out of foreign children , she is 50-50 thai farang. me and her mum are not tall.
