The problem is worse than described here. I make several payments using my Debit Card (Life Insurance etc.) However my card expired and I waited 2 months for a replacement which never came. On phoning to my Bamk to find out why they tell me that Thailand is on an Embargo List and they cannot send post here. This means that I not only don't get my Debit Card renewals when they expire but I do not get any notifications concerning my account. The only way around it is to get an address in the UK and get someone to forward your mail. This has lead to me missing several important payments because first I must change my address at the Bank for which they require a special form to be filled out. And how do I get this form Oh we post them out to you. Ok post one to me. Sorry we cannot post to Thailand.

Not pleasant news, but not unexpected either. I think I, like most Brits are praying that something happens to make Brexit work and that one day, the bloody Pound will start to gather a bit of strength again. Before the Brexit vote it was 55, look at it now.
It is forecast to go down to 25.6 baht to the GBP by 2023. This will make life here very dificult for all Brits (including me).

probably more important is the buying power of your money... not just the exchange rate.
If you are importing your GBP to purchase with then your buying power is going to decline accordingly

How did you lose money? By not transferring money when the exchange rate was more favourable?
The consensus is that the Bank of England may actually cut the Interest rate in the event of a 'no deal'. So perhaps a further drop in the value of the £.

Economists are forecasting that the GBP which is currently at 38 baht will fall further. It has already fallen 22% since the referendum but is now being forecast to drop to 25.6 baht over the next 4 years. This will undoubtedly be catastrfic for many Brits here.

What a typical Trump like response. If you don't like what someone says then resort to personal attacks and insults. I suggest you grow up and behave in a more mature manner.

In my opinion, Darroch is bent out of shape over Trump not chanting the correct progressive mantras. Trump is not here to virtue signal to the likes of Darroch. Trump was elected to get the country back into shape, and he is doing a darned fine job of it. Darroch's comments reek of political bias, end of. It is not diplomatic.
A sensible diplomatic summary of Trumps govt would read something like " a determined bunch, not afraid of breaking a few eggs to make an omelette, but Oh My, what a fine omelette it turned out to be. Records smashed regularly on the stock market, record numbers of minorities in employment, growing approval ratings, confidence in the economy growing, respect returning on the international stage. Its just been an amazing ride."
Negativity has no place when discussing Trumps amazing achievements. But yes, noted. Some liberals like Darroch did not want to see this all happen and they will never stop letting us know.
And what planet or alternative reality do you come from. You are making me laugh with your Fake logic

If you actually like to taste the coffee and drink it black and without sugar then one coffee that I have found is way above the others. It is a Swedish brand called Gevalia and was, until recently, sold by Ville Market. It is a medium roasted Brazilian Bean and has soft mellow taste which makes you want to drink more. Unfortunately Ville Market stopped selling it and I am searching for another supplier. I have even considered importing it myself or getting someone in Sweden to send me a a few kilos every few months. If you know of another supplier here please please give me his details.

I would hardly call them even a small majority group. Only 37,5% of the people who could vote voted to leave. This is hardly a majority. 34,6 % voted to remain and the rest didnt vote.

This is all FAKE news but it must feel nice to have someone to blame. The economy is falling because the optimism of the Brexteers is and was totally unfounded.

This Barr defamation is a coordinated attempt by the Dems to brand Barr an untrustworthy person so that any evidence his office turns up of a covert US government operation to first remove Trump the candidate and secondly remove him from office once the American people voted Republican...is a Trump orchestrated LIE...because the Dems say so...????
Many previous Dem government heads are going to roll...
Barr is clearly untrustworthy as are any lackeys of Trump not because the Dems brand him so. It has been proven time and time again that anyone appointed by Trump must lie, misrepresent facts and try to argue Trump's unsustainable positions on all matters or they lose their jobs. If any American still supports this moronic and incompetent POTUS then it says a lot about the moral culture of the US.

Call me old fashioned but I find swearing degrading and repulsive.
There's no need or reason to ' F ' this and F that when men or teenages are in a group.
Yes, I do swear at home alone when something doesn't work properly, but not in the company of others.
Just my opinion.
I agree totally. To use expletives just shows a lack of education where the individual does not have a grasp of the English Language. English is one of the richest languages where there is a useful word for almost everything and every situation. To use expletives just makes the individual appear LoSo, to use a Thai expression, which he almost certainly is.

For literally decades, the party has been in favour of limited government, strict constitutionalism, and limiting the powers of Government/the Presidency (and in favour of personal responsibility, free trade, etc, but that is another post).
If the Republicans vote in favour of this power grab, it will be a crystal clear indication that they have abandoned any/all principles that they once held dear, and are in Congress simply to attain and use power on behalf of their wealthy donors. Does anyone remember the Republicans complaining about Obama's "Imperial Presidency"? I do.
I could list all the morals, principles and ethics the Republicans have abandoned under Trump, but allow me to simply highlight one of them. The Republicans no longer seem to believe that having all people vote is a good thing, but rather spend their time, money and political capital trying to remove and/or deny Americans a voice/vote in their government (the non-existent 'voter fraud' nonsense); it goes against everything the Republican party has historically held dear (remember Lincoln, guys? Republicans used to say that they were the 'Party of Lincoln and Reagan'. are they still? Hint: No.).
If the Republicans hand over this kind of power to Trump, it will be tattooed on their foreheads for eternity, and they won't be able to complain when a future Democrat President declares a Gun Emergency, a Pollution Emergency, an Abortion Rights Emergency and, eventually, a Voting Emergency to do away with 'expensive' and 'unnecessary' elections.
Do Republicans still have any principles? We'll see...
I agree totally with what you say. I am not a US citizen and it would appear to me that the Republican Party has absolutely no morals and serve only for their own gratification. What amazes me is that still such a high proportion of the electorate still support him. Can they not see what he is doing to the USA both economically and politically. Are they really that stupid? In any other Country he would have been voted out of office with a government vote of no confidence but in the US he is permitted to stay doing even further damage to his country as the wheels towards impeachment seem to turn very slowly. And further, the immoral Republican party would be relagated to a thing of the past.
In a rather sad way i am happy that he is creating turmoil mainly in the US and that he is having to defend himself against so many lawsuits. This keeps him occupied inside the US and leaves him little time to create too much chaos internationally.
I don't know about God Bless America as for the moment their God seems to have forgotten them. Maybe he will return to help them soon.

You think that a tourist to a country, visiting for 30-60 days for the purpose of tourism, can just rock up to a bank and open up a bank account??? ????
Good luck with that.
Even in the UK you have to show proof of residence, i.e utility bill etc. and residence visa Why would a tourist want a bank account anyway if it is not for suspicious activities. Most use their credit/debit card.

The Federal Government owns and manages - or mismanages, as the case may be, more than half of California's forests.
Of the approximately 33 million acres of forest in California, federal agencies (including the USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service) own and manage 19 million acres (57%).
State and local agencies including CalFire, local open space, park and water districts and land trusts own another 3%. 40% of California's forestland is owned by families, Native American tribes, or companies. Industrial timber companies own 5 million acres (14%). 9 million acres are owned by individuals with nearly 90% of these owners having less than 50 acres of forest land.
Trump says to rake up all the leaves just like Finland do. That alone says he is ignorant. The forests in Finland are almost exclusively Pine trees and Fir trees. They do not have leaves but needles. So it is obvious this advice did not come from the Finnish president.

Having been the big loser in the November elections he has probably realised that he isn't as popular as he thought amid the American people. Also with all the investigations looking into his affairs and family he has obviously turned vindictive towards America and the American people and is out to do as much damage as he possibly can to everything and everyone American. He needs to be impeached as soon as possible to save the USA from any further damage. Even Pence cannot be worse than him.

I agree! Also what if your pension is not from your home country? Do you need to pay it first into a bank in your home country and then transfer to Thailand? That would mean paying two transfer fees.
Nationwide BS (UK) now useless
