I will be doing my annual extension in October so this thread is of interest to me.

Any posters that have recently done their extension at CW can confirm OP report that would be appreciated.

My past experiences and what I plan to take.

All of what's listed in OP apart from TM30 and 90 report receipt.

Unless change of address the TM30 should have nothing to do with extension same for 90 report.

In the past immigration has accepted a map that is on back of condo flyer and I don't bother with hand drawn option.

I take along copy and original of current lease for condo.

As for bank letter that's personal choice. My preference is not to go early and as result I do bank letter at CW. I go to clerk that does this (not counter). I give her 200baht. 100 for cost of letter and 100baht for deposit into account. Also ask her to photocopy last page of bb showing deposit and balance.

Note: This year I will check with AseanNow that Kasikorn bank at CW is open. Currently seems bit of confusion about that.

As pointed out in OP......if you have obtained a passport renewal at some point and your original non O visa is in old passport then the first pages on current pp showing the information re non O is sufficient.

I extended non O-A about a week ago at CW, similar to OP report plus also needed insurance certificate. The girl who pre-checked my forms asked about 90 day report, but I told her I'd just mailed it and showed her my receipt. TM30 wasn't asked for at all, I had a copy in my folder but didn't volunteer it.

Map was a google maps printout, accepted same as last year. Bank deposit and letter all done early afternoon (45 minutes at Krungsri) then photocopy shop for copies of passport and visa pages, also bank book as KSB don't make copies. No copies of TM7 or other forms required, it looked like L section seemed to be doing quite a bit of their own photocopying this year.

Very busy as I went there in the days preceding 26th September, but otherwise all pretty smooth. Having the QR code on the ticket really helped, updating queue status on the phone and freeing me up to move around the building.

Other than arriving at 0900 and getting a queue number of 115 that meant a long wait, all my documents were in order except a new one was added when an initial check of my documents were made - see attached.

I was there about 1.30pm the same day, with 119 ahead of me in the queue. Mine also took 5 hours, which is about the same rate of processing as yours if you factor in the lunchhour. I was there mostly till the end, around 6.30pm they were calling the final numbers (around #230). Not sure how many cases they process on an average day, but it certainly seems it was unusually busy on Tuesday.

Maybe I just got unlucky this year with a nit-picking IO who was issuing the queue tickets....or maybe it's just their policy now to look for an  passbook update before even issuing a queue number.

I went on Tuesday afternoon to extend non O-A, the place was mobbed. Perhaps because of this, when I arrived around 1.30pm and went straight to the ticket desk I was only asked for the TM7 and then given a queue number right away (119 ahead of me in the queue, last year there were less than 20 queueing at the same time of day). I popped downstairs to Krungsri which was very quiet, made a deposit and got the book updated was told to come back in 40 minutes for the letter, which gave me time to fill out the additional forms. Then got copies made, and hung around getting coffees etc. Finally got seen after 6pm, unusually by a senior officer who checked my forms and stamped my passport all at her desk.

Very smooth trip, but surprised at the queue length in front of me, took over 5 hours in all. The QR code provided on the ticket was great though, showing queue number status, and freeing me up to wander all over the building rather than sit glued to the screen in L section.

Yes I think that was me. I had to get it sent to someone who sent it to me but the actual activation was very straightforward with several options to complete it. It is all explained very well on their site.

I'm going to need a UK sim for Internet banking access soon - can you confirm the Asda sim doesn't need to be activated and topped up in the UK before sending? If I can activate and top up here it will be much more convenient, I'll just get the sim sent over.

I contacted LMG Chiang Mai two months prior to insurance expiration and asked for a renewal package. This came by email in two days, filled it out, including payment info (US credit card), and emailed it back. Got the policy as a pdf to an email several days later, with LMG advising the e-policy was acceptable by Immigration, but the hard copy policy would follow in two weeks (which it did). Renewed my retirement extension yesterday, with no questions regarding the LMG policy surfacing.

Renewal price was as advertised a year earlier when I first got the policy (16,900 bt for age 76). Never filed a claim, so guess that contributed. But, yeah, just hope the requirement goes away in time for next year, tho' I won't hold my breath, as the insurance mafia is no doubt doing some serious lobbying to prevent their income source from drying up......

    Thanks, good info.

An O-A Visa with multiple entries can be ideal with complete open borders ( pre pandemic ) and you exit Thailand occasionally.  And of course the health insurance validity dates must match your permission to stay dates, if not your permission to stay stamp will only be granted to the validity of your health insurance on extensions of stay, not the full year....

Got my O-A extension coming up at CW in a couple of months, last year I used the cheapest company (LMG). Do you know how they manage this Insurance for the renewal - will LMG just offer an automatic renewal and issue a certificate once premium paid? I'm hoping the process will be simpler regarding validity dates on the second year of doing this as it's just a renewal.

An interesting side-effect of this Covid-19 pandemic is that we are being taught the Greek alphabet. We have already learnt Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon; the next five variants will be Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota and Kappa, which should keep us going for the next six months.

    The Greek alphabet

After Zeta, Eta and Theta sweep through, I doubt anyone's gonna give an Iota....

The UK passed the 6000/day on June 8th

The UK passed the 10000/day on June 17th

Somewhat less than the c180 days being predicted.

To give even more perspective on this, the UK on the 1st June had 3099 cases, and by 1st July 27566 cases. Over 80% of UK adults have been vaccinated with either Pfizer or AZ, and well over 90% of new cases are the Delta variant.

If numbers were to escalate at a similar rate here, Thailand would hit 50000 a day by month end.

No travel insurance currently covers covid if bought after covid started spreading...AND no insurance will cover you normally for the first 3-7 days after you buy it if you are out of the country.

Insurances will also deny any claim if they suspect you bought insurance after feeling sick...They are here to make money not lose it!!

Yes, the local covid insurance policies here have an exclusion if the claimant is considered to have been infectious during the first 14 days after taking out the policy.

Both myself and a mate (him Huawei P9(?)) me with a Huawei Honor 6 both had a similar problem, although not as a result of a drop.

Investigation led us (him really) to the battery being prone to swelling and forcing the screen outwards.  We both had the batteries replaced within the last week and both our screens now sit flush.

Both batteries removed were visibly swollen.  Mine was 650 baht to replace, his was 700 baht.

Similar to my Huawei Nova 2i, battery was pushing the screen away from the back and light was coming out of the side. Also 650 baht for a replacement at MBK late last year.

I called AIS and they said these were promo packages that were not available. I politely argued that since I've had my AIS account for 11 years they should treat me at least as well as a new customer. After 5 minutes on hold she offered an unpublished package  of Unlimited data 10 Mbps for 250 baht/month. She also lowered my phone call rate to  75stang per minute from prior 1.5 baht/minute.

    Thanks for the post! ????

Was this a postpaid AIS you had for 11 years? And is the new contract also postpaid? This kind of package sounds great - I'm currently paying more than double for my original 4G package, but I'm not using it recently especially since I now have a free sim bundled with my AIS fibre deal.

The other alternative is to just lapse the 4G sim completely - are there any implications in doing so mid contract? Am I supposed to inform AIS or can I just stop paying?
