  1. Peoples tickers seem to be a bit more sensitive to adversity these days. He fell off a jet ski with all the proper gear on. Plenty of drunks hit the water with nothing but their shorts on and they walk away
  2. This is on my bucket list. I have to attend the Jet Ski World Cup one day.
  3. They should introduce some kind of compensation in a shortage like this. Just a free Chang or some vouchers you could use at the local massage place.
  4. Yes but just the same. A whole new crew of dreamers will wash up on Phukets shores. And buy up these hotels and reopen them. We just dont seem to have the 2008 style recessions anymore , where money and credit dries up.
  5. There is still some jumpers but not at the same rate as the flying club days. I remember reading a good poem about the flyers written at an old site called mongers syndicate. It doesn't seem to be around anymore. For the population density it might be back to around average,
  6. You can basically say that for any business anywhere. 1% of them will make it and big. The rest will fail for reasons mostly out of their control.
  7. Yeah yeah. There has been more Canadian gangster lowlife in the news here than Russian
  8. The big myth that Pattaya has a uniquely dirty beach has indeed been going around since 1984. When is probably was dirty due to over expansion and under investment. And not just some street runoff that gets hysterically amplified on social media today. They do test the water for ecoli and stuff. A pass is a pass. i swam in it before and will again.
  9. Pattaya has sewage treatment plants. But they don't run all of their street runoff into treatment plants. What do you think most beach side cities do with their street runoff ? Shoot it into outer space ?
  10. There could be a niche use for this in a specific area. But of course its an insane idea to change any structural traffic issues.
  11. Some ppl seem to think it is easy to make money when you decide to go criminal. This is just not true. All of that work and investment that this guy put in , is gone. And he's on the run. Sure. He probably ran off with some revenue. But that doesn't mean he didnt have input costs up until the last day.
  12. There's a lot less of these types in Pattaya than there was in the early 2000's.
  13. Wouldn't want the whole economy to sieze up because half of the working age male population is in jail bc of drunk driving
  14. That's ecouraging. I like Thailand the way it is.
  15. Can foreigners be drivers for the apps ? how to they police it
  16. I like it that way and hope it stays like that.
  17. I doubt it. You'll get arrested. Just like in the western nanny police states. I sure dont like it when Thailand adopts this bs from the west
  18. Unreal. Glad I enjoyed it when it was legal. Vape pens are illegal too. But weed isn't. Thai Boomers for ya
  19. Sounds like a good time to me.
  20. Can someone please convert it 4. 1 million dollars. Lucky <deleted>. He's got me beat by about 3 million. And he didn't have to work for it. Life is about being in the right place at the right time. Nothing else. Effort doesn't matter. Discipline doesn't matter.
  21. Not really. The law either means something or it doesn't. These app companies have zero profits and only exist as long as reality never catches up to Wall Street. They are providing a service at less than cost. Selling dollars for 75 cents. When these companies have to exist on a real profit, the old regional way will probably win out. Uber will soon join an ugly but exclusive club: Unprofitable companies worth more than $50 billion https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/27/uber-one-of-only-3-unprofitable-companies-worth-more-than-50-billion.html
  22. Sanctions were and always are designed to cause a currency crisis and balance of payment crisis. As seen in places like Iran and Venezuela. Which is in turn, supposed degrade the military. These kinds of sanctions are a huge expense for Europe and weren't supposed to be merely a nuisance. https://orientalreview.org/2022/04/04/why-did-poland-tell-the-truth-about-the-failure-of-anti-russian-sanctions/
  23. The sanctions were supposed to cause a currency crisis, a banking crisis and a balance of payments crisis. None of that happened. A business cycle recession isn't a big deal.
