And the threat of banning alcohol again is just treating it's citizens like children, but typical of the military mindset.
Sorry, not me. Blame the system. It's the system that establishes the 'Who said?' I never intended to quote you at all!

What threat. It's only been mentioned should infections rise. Nowhere, except on ThaiVisa has there been a threat of reinstating the ban based on curfew or 'get together' violations.

But this has nothing to do with Thailand. The headline implies that flights are running from Thailand. In fact all international commercial flights are banned for the whole of May.

Just ONE new case today.
Yesterday, all 18 were from quarantine/detention giving a net result of ZERO new cases locally.
Really looking forward to a game of pool!!!!!!

Yeh, you got me there. 20 years here and I still talk of common sense. I need to have a word with myself.
However, disregarding common sense, he, sorry, THEY were actually breaking the law as outlined in the Thai driving laws.

That was a continuous centre line. Even without any road marking, it was common sense not to overtake. "Blind bend ahead!". 2 complete idiots and one 'collateral damage'. It does show that even when you're driving correctly, you can still end up dead (not in this case, thankfully). I can't see how the innocent vehicle could have avoided that.

That's not true .... yet. Contact tracing is being carried out and further tests will be done. All tests will be sent to the BKK laboratory for analysis. Negative at the moment but not official as yet.

Is today's count (ignoring the 'no reported deaths' part) higher than yesterday's? I ask because I for one am expecting an imminent 2nd wave. That and I consider this government to be amoral and inveterate liars.
Hmmm. Yesterday's figure was 3. Today's figure is 18.
18 is higher than 3 so the answer is hmmm YES, today's count is higher than yesterday's.
However, the 18 are all from quarantine so the net increase in local cases is ZERO!

The government briefing today states that these 40 are still officially negative so are not included in today's figures. Further testing at a laboratory is needed to check the validity of the tests. Either way, they are returnees from a religious event in Malaysia.
Apart from that, 18 new cases are reported today. All cases came from quarantine of illegal workers.

Watched a video yesterday taken at Makro in Pranburi. People fighting, literally, for boxes of beer off of a palette just delivered from the stock room. Social distancing ---- forget it. People pushing and shoving others out of the way, almost to the point of punches being thrown. Ridiculous.
Not allowed to post such videos here.

These are probably from 'over the border'. However a particular scary part of the report was that it will push a hospital to capacity and "The sooner we find these people the better". They don't even know where they are!

It's always been up to the governors before the Emergency Decree came out. If you remember, the BKK governor would announce restrictions (remember 10th - 20th ban booze over Songkran?) then other provinces, one by one would follow.
Governors can decide which bans to continue. The can't ease restrictions more than the government though.
Several provincial governors have decided to extend the ban on alcohol as well as some on restaurants.
Buri Ram, Chanthaburi, Lop Buri, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Phanom, Petchaburi, Phitsanalok and Rayong are among the ones to still ban the sale of alcohol.

So, if Covid-19 is about twice as deadly as the flu and infection rates are similar to the flu of 2017, then about 16,000 Thais would be predicted to have died in the first four months of this year from Covid-19.
Where does it state that infection rates are similar to flu. In Thailand, of course, we don't actually know the numbers of infections as a large number are asymptomatic or so mild they're not reported.
Remember, there is a vaccine for flu, albeit more or less effective depending on the current mutation.
There is also levels of immunity against 'flu.
The 'flu virus and covid19 are completely different types of viruses. Compare like with like and these two diseases are no alike.
The number of deaths from 'flu are much greater, in the main, than the current virus. However, infections are also much higher. In the year you state for example (2017) in the states there were 45 million infections and around 60,000 deaths.

What is the point of this 'news article'. All those restrictions are already stated in the Emergency Decree. The government has just stated what restrictions 'can' be lifted and that doesn't include any of those on the list. Governors should be informing of their take on the government announcement. What restrictions, based on the government statement are they lifting. Not what the government are not allowing! That's already been done! Some provinces still have a ban on alcohol and restaurants only because they're waiting for the lazy governors to get off their seats and do their job.
This article is a complete waste of space and does more to fire confusion than anything else.

.... for being very very lucky. Nature has been good to you. God forbid what would have happened should it have 'ballooned' here!

Mortality is based on infection. Covid 19 currently has around 3 - 4% deaths based on infections.
'Flu on the other hand kills much less than 1% of those infected.
Based on concluded cases in Thailand (recovered/died), the rate of death is 2%.

It seems it's not only the Thai government that needs to give approval on the easing of restrictions. The provincial governments need to as well. In Buriram, we are still not permitted to buy alcohol.
Spot on. The government issued the maximum lifting of restrictions. It's now up to the governors to state the situation in their province.
in Petchaburi, for example, many stores were still reflecting the ban awaiting the nod from the governor.
Governors should all have got off their a*ses yesterday at the latest to inform of the situation.
It's not rocket science.

Regardless of the headline which is misleading, the article is not about immunity but whether a patient can 'relapse' after recovery. That was one of the theories regarding a second positive. That has now been blamed on faulty tests.
It remains that there is no evidence of immunity after recovering from covid19

it would be best to quarantine all returning citizens. do not take chances at this stage because you need only one mistake and clusters can reappear.
All returning citizens are put into mandatory state quarantine for 14 days. Been doing that for a while and will continue.

Rise in curfew violations since Sunday amid warning booze ban could be reinstated

It's not a '14 day trial'. The CCSA has confirmed that the ban on alcohol sales has been lifted but for take-away only. People here and especially the media love to read into the news some underlying restriction.
What the CCSA has said is that restrictions in force will be reviewed EVERY 14 days. That includes ALL restrictions. If all goes well, then further restrictions may be lifted. Where does that say that alcohol sales are on a 14 day trial?
Are we now in the middle of 'Fake News'? People should listen to the official government announcements instead of trying to fill in blanks that are not even there.
I despair.
