There are now 10 virus free provinces. Sa Kaeo became the 10th, although the other nine have never had an infection so not quite the same.
-
According to Worldometers, there have been 148,473 'flu deaths this year including 552 deaths today.

There are, as of yesterday, 35 provinces with no reported cases for 14 days. Add into that 9 provinces that have never had a confirmed infection EVER and you have 44 provinces that are virtually clear. The majority of cases have been in 4 or 5 provinces, mainly BKK and it's neighbours.
Here in Hua Hin, for example, there have been no new cases for a month. Currently, there are 2 cases in hospital who have been there for some time. One death of a guy on a train from BKK. There are zero people in quarantine as all the returnees have now been released.
So HH has 2 cases that have been in hospital for the last month. That's it. Nothing more! But still we're under lock down, along with many other provinces with no virus activity. The fanatical wearing of masks or be fined/imprisoned for not wearing one. Social distancing and 'hand washing' is not being respected.
In HH you have more chance of winning the lottery than catching the virus.
Build a wall around BKK or at least restrict travel in and out of the city and open up the rest of the country and allow people to regain their livelihoods.

Would you worship me if I doubled that? This is the point i'm trying to make. These are nice gestures but does nothing beside getting admiration of small minded people.
But go ahead an do it if it make you feel good and you get a adrenaline kick from people waing to you all day.QuoteDave refused to be interviewed saying he and his friends didn't do it for recognition.
You are a very sad individual!!

A question for Chano-cha-cha-cha!

Very very commendable actions of these guys. However, it would be nice to see some recognition from the authorities who have just banned the giving of free food unless done through a government agency. This action was taken after the debacle outside the temple at Don Muang.

The sort of people that believe the information being peddled on this ...are the kind of folk that would buy dry sand off a market stall next to The Sahara.
Of course you're saying this without any evidence. I agree numbers are low. So are Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, all much lower than Thailand. Also Japan, Hong Kong and others.
Unless you have good reason, backed up with any kind of evidence, then you have to accept the figures given. You consider yourself to be so smart, then back up your statement above, or shut up!

French researchers lead by Professor Remi Charrel from the Aix-Marseille University in southern France has discovered that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is able to withstand high temperatures even when heated to as high as 60 degrees Celsius (140 Fahrenheit) for an hour, as it was found the that the new coronavirus was still able to replicate.
People comparing covid-19 with the 'flu should be aware that the 'flu is not a corona virus. The common cold is.

Lots of people, especially the younger generation, are earning lots of cash from their Tik Tok videos. Some of the really clever creators earn millions of dollars.
My friend's niece takes lots of videos on a daily basis and posts them on Tik Tok. She's not making fortunes but does make thousands of baht per month. Great pocket money!
Not for us 'oldies' though.

and still some farangs not wearing masks here.
Because like myself, they're taking advice from most of the world's doctors and scientists. I will wear one to follow a rule when necessary but when I have the option, I won't. Nothing against people wearing masks as in the main, it doesn't do any harm and there is some social benefit. However, there is a lot of evidence that shows a mask as being an aid to spread. I'll repeat a post I made on another thread:
QuoteTo the government and others:
STOP PROMOTING THE USE OF MASKS AS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
Because of this, Thais actually believe that if they're wearing a mask then they're safe!
I went into 7/11 yesterday afternoon. I used the sanitiser on the way in and on leaving. If there's no sanitiser then I'll use my own, which I'm never without. Then consciously keep my distance from others. When I arrive home, I wash my hands with soap and water before doing anything else.
I decided to watch people going in and out of 7/11 for 15 mins. In that time I notice most Thais wearing masks but NOT ONE used the sanitiser and were certainly not practicing social distancing.
The emphasis needs to shift from masks to hand washing, social distancing because until then, masks become the be all and end all of protection.
Retail outlets etc have now banned entry without a mask. The government have now classified used masks as hazardous material to be disposed of in red bins, highlighting again the importance of masks as the number one priority.
Until people get real on how to protect themselves, it's not going to get better.
Strangely enough, one of the girls in that 7/11 goes to university and speaks quite good English. I was sort of pointing out why I wasn't wearing a mask and she piped up that she was wearing one because it's a rule and told me not to wear one unless I have to. She said she's studying tropical diseases at uni.

You are forgetting that China LIED about it!!!!!! The USA cases keep rising now because they are doing 100,000+ tests a day, when the start they had no test kits. China lied to everyone, Trump reacted within 10 days to shut down China Travel and the Dem's thought that was mean, racists etc but it save us from having a million or so dead.
Italy locked out China before Trump (despite his wailings) and much more aggressively. Trump's ban had 11 exemptions which went on for weeks.
Italy with a complete ban on Chinese entering the country didn't result in a lot did it.
Bluster all you like, Trump. It's taken you this long to get on board with this virus and you still lie.

What a great idea. Let's queue with all the rest of the thousands who are stuck here every 2 weeks instead of 4.
Unbelievable.
There are other countries that have given a blanket amnesty until this crisis lessens.
-
Fortunately, getting the virus from China now has been greatly reduced. All new cases in China are from 'imports' with no new local cases. (according to them). Factories etc are in full swing and ironically, China have now instigated aggressive screening of visitors.
-
Another important piece of information. We now know that the virus is only active between 11pm and 5am!

Watched last night's press conference from the WHO. Social distancing by the panel and reporters on a link.
One of the questions inevitably was the use of masks. They doubled down on the general public not to wear masks. They refused to criticise countries that are promoting the use of masks."There is absolutely no evidence that the wearing of masks can protect the wearer.(unless you're in the front line and exposed to the virus constantly). Quite the opposite. There is strong evidence that wearing a mask can increase the spread of the virus. There is a benefit psychologically and socially but that's the only benefit. A mask will protect others from an infected person"

Your money is protected under the Deposit Protection Act. After August it reduces to one million which, should the bank or financial institution go down, the protected amount is paid immediately. Any cash greater than the protected amount needs to be claimed from liquidity.
Ideally, hold no more than a million in any one bank. Spread it to other banks.

The Thai population needs educating on what the main cause of the spread is. It's certainly no from being 'mask free'. There's a good video on another thread which shows undoubtedly that it's spread by touch then infecting yourself by touching your face, mouth, eyes. Some say that a mask will limit the frequency of touching your face, but it fact it actually increases it with the constant adjusting of the mask.
The virus is not airborne except from unguarded coughs and sneezes. 2 metre distancing will prevent that to a large degree. The virus is transmitted from surfaces. The most important preventative issues are regularly washing your hands with soap and water, or sanitiser if soap and water is not available. along with social distancing of at least 2 metres will far outweigh the use of a mask which gives the virus another medium for spread.
The problem here is that, in general, Thai citizens are obsessed with wearing a mask believing, quite wrongly, that it's the be all and end all for keeping yourself safe.
