Exactly! The locals will wear masks, no helmets and ignore the real necessities of keeping yourself safe. Partly due to the BS our health minister gives out. Brainwashed into thinking these paper/cloth masks will protect them.

social distancing, wash hands, sanitizers, and DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING IN PUBLIC are my approach.
The protection given in those procedures far outweigh any benefit from a mask.

Technically, it is a democracy. Multi-party with the Prime Minister taken from the party with a simple majority.
QuoteSingapore has a multi-party parliamentary system of representative democracy in which the President of Singapore is the head of state and the Prime Minister of Singapore is the head of government.

Right ??????
QuotePerson-to-person spread
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
- Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
- Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
If you have the virus, unless your coughing and sneezing, it's unlikely you can infect another who is more than 6 feet away (social distancing is 2 metres), If you are coughing and sneezing then you shouldn't even be around the public and most definitely be wearing a mask whether the coughing/sneezing is from the virus or the 'flu.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/transmission.html
The main transmission is believed to be from surfaces, which is why the emphasis is on regular and thorough hand washing. The virus is not airborne and if coughed into the air, it will sink/drop to a surface where it can survive for quite long periods.
Wearing one of these paper masks is no protection against the virus which has been proven in a number of studies. As the mask becomes moist and gets contaminated from your own hands, it can become a petri dish and actually aid the spread.

We are just encouraging mask use for health reasons
I'll wear a mask if it becomes mandatory but until then I'll take the advice of the doctors in the US, UK, Germany etc etc. Plus the advice of the WHO.
There is zero evidence that a surgical mask is any protection at all unless it's you with the virus and that will protect others. There is evidence that these paper masks can actually help in spreading the virus.
Thai attitude, and I heard this during a TV interview, "Just because there's no evidence is not an excuse not to wear one".
Plenty of evidence suggesting not to wear one and zero evidence for wearing one.
Before pointing out that everyone had to wear one in China, that was because of the intensity of the epicentre (market) it was unknown who had it and who didn't.

And now Boris Johnson has tested positive along with his health minister. At this rate the UK government will all be in quarantine.

Actually it's supposed to be 2 metres. It always was around the rest of the world and Thailand eventually caught on to that only this week!

China's leadership culture is all about coverup and distraction. They are masters in the "smoke and mirrors" techniques of sleight-of-hand illusions on large scale applications. This is not a racial attack on any race or a slight against the people of China. I am simply pointing out that China has leaders that are corrupt and inept and their mishandling of this whole coronavirus issue was a tragic mistake for their citizens as well as for the world. I would hope that the citizens of China look at this after it is contained and force change on their government to promote a better and more open government.
The US with Trump and the Thai government here. Are they any different?

Not really sure why this is being discussed at all. He can bluster all he likes but he cannot 'open' America for business. He doesn't have that power. It's not his call as I've already stated. He's never shut anything down and consequently does not have the authority to open anything up.
The governors will do whatever they deem necessary. Not Trump.

Fortunately for America, Trump is not in charge of what happens. He has never shut anything down and therefore does not have the power to 'open' anything for business. The decisions were made by the governors and ONLY the governors can change those restrictions.
He can bluster all he likes but at the end of the day, it's not his call (thankfully).

Why not give the local police station the power to do 90 day reports, after all they are all part of the same organisation.
Back in the day, they could do just that. 90 day report was to any police station.

Why everywhere else in the world, social distancing means 2 metres, backed up by scientists and evidence.
Not in Thailand of course. We can do everything cheaper and shorter than the rest of the world.
Good intentions to no good use. Even in the lead picture, it's not taken seriously.

They do, you are brainwashed by western government. There they have the problem to have no spare masks. Imagin the panic from the people if government would tell, yes, masks will help to contain the virus.
Now, they can not tell the people the truth, so they tell something like: well, it does just help if you are infected, because then you will spread the virus less. When you are infected, you will stay home anyway. So don't worry.
It is a moot point. However, there is masses of research, studies completed, and evidence that the surgical mask is of no use. On the contrary, it can be a medium for actually spreading the virus.
There is no evidence that wearing a surgical mask is of any benefit.
The response from the 'mask wearing brigade' is "Just because there's no evidence doesn't mean you should not wear one."
Seriously, I heard that during an interview with a Thai government official.

Dr Manoon Leechawengwong is the ICU chief and disease expert at Bangkok's Vichaiyut Hospital in Phayathai district. He is a leading expert in respiratory illness.
If this is the opinion (because it certainly isn't fact) of a so called expert, then God help Thailand. Looking to see his name in print like most Thai government members. How can you trust the authorities when their 'leading experts' come out with complete BS.

This is likley why we see a much slower spread of the virus here and in other similar tropical climate countries than in the cold wintertime temperate climates. So some positvie news for us here in Thailand but spare a thought for our friends and family stuck back home in the winter climate who are far more at risk than us here.
So with weeks of inactivity in Thailand, why over the last week are we seeing a significant increase in numbers just as we've entered the hottest time of the year with temperatures rising toward 40 degs.

Yet again, another Thai 'expert' that knows more than anyone else. Pretty much every doctor and scientist around the world disagree with his statements. Many studies of the current mutations have been done and the conclusion from all sources is that none of the mutations are any more deadly than the others.
One of the reasons of the high numbers in Italy is that it's one of the most aging populations in Europe with a high percentage of 'senior citizens'.
Another piece of Thai BS.

The majority of Thai schools are already closed. The long 'summer' holiday. Not due back, under normal circumstances, until May so the situation would have existed anyway.

Yet.
Before this is over, 40-80% of the population will have been infected.
What this is about is slowing the rate of infection down.
Well let's look at China where it started and they're now recovering quite quickly, opening shops and restaurants and people getting back to work. You reckon that a large percentage of the population will be infected.
Currently after the peak in China, all confirmed cases count for 56 per million population!
So they've a long way to go to reach even 40% of the population. And they're recovering after the peak.
Thailand, in comparison, has cases currently equating to 9 per million population. It's going to get worse here before it gets better. But 40%, we'll see.

I'm advocating assistance, nothing more. The CV has to be truthful. The assistance is in the way it's presented. I'm certainly not encouraging a third person to make up untruths on the CV.

WHY, for God's sake why? Customers are creating their own shortages. It's happening in the UK big time. I watched a vid of a health worker having just completed a 12 hour shift, crying because she couldn't get basic supplies to last her for the next 48 hours.
There's absolutely no excuse for this panic. Unlike governments, the big supermarkets planned for situations such as this after the last epidemic. They have ensured that they have months of supply. Their problem is the logistics of getting produce from the warehouses to the shelves in the shops.
Thankfully, in Hua Hin, there is no sign of 'panic buying',...... yet. The supermarkets are well stocked. Shelves are full and as far as I'm aware, no shortages or long queues.
It could change, but it's up to the people to behave sensibly.
