  1. No doubt farang has temper, everybody knows that. I can't believe thais to show such temper for so minor problems.

I lived in middle-east, and public consensus here is that majority thais are soft, sissy, coward or gay,.....

  2. Here another new story, another rage over road accident, this time hitting with "home made" gun to produce less injury. These stories tell when problems rise with thais and farang, always consider high probablity that thai own a gun

    Students charged over roadside beating

RASSADA: Two second-year university students were arrested after allegedly assaulting a man at an accident scene on Soi Phaneang on July 2.

When Phuket City police arrived at the scene, they found the two students, named by police as “Wit”, 22, and “Karine”, 23, both from Pattani province, beating 30-year-old Jaroonsak Khongjit, an employee of Phuket Adventure company.

Pol Capt Atthapol Wannasaengthong of Phuket City Police Station told the Gazette that the incident happened after the students’ motorcycle and Jaroonsak’s motorcycle bumped while they were riding on Soi Phaneang.

The collision caused the student’s motorcycle to crash to the ground. K. Jaroonsak was assaulted when he went to apologize to the students, said Capt Atthapol.

“I asked them why they beat him and they said that they were angry,” he said.

“People at the scene reported that one of them had a gun and used the gun to hit Jaroonsak. When we frisked them we found a homemade gun with bullets,” Capt Atthapol added.

Both students were charged with committing bodily harm and illegal possession of a firearm.

  3. Phuket has been like my second home recently, and i'm planing to come to pattaya for 1-2 week stay.

I have to say, 150Bhat is even high price in Phuket, where all discotec charge 120 Bhat, except tai-pan which closes later

charges 140 bhat. Another disco which closes 6:30AM still charges 100-120 Bhat depending thai beer or imported beer

Pattaya 100 bhat only. They will come to know this soon, pattaya means CHEAP $ to everyone, and extra 50 Bhat makes

a different to long-term staying night creatures

  4. Is there a direct route by bus from pattaya to phuket town by VIP bus? I don't like to change buses, because i have about 50KG baggage with me that's not very spacious but more weighty only

Airline isn't good option because i have to pay for extra 25-30KG (7,000-9,000Bhat) and again i change to another bus from phuket airport to phuket town where bus station is....

  5. Problem is unlike thailand many big citis, phuket has lot of undecent outsider thais.

Imagine this guy was in bangla rd, how many farang could have been shot?

Man surrenders over road rage shootings

PHUKET CITY: After a four-day manhunt, a Patong man wanted in connection with the shooting murder of two youths in front of Kaset Market, the fresh market near Robinson department store, turned himself in to police early yesterday morning.

The suspect, 33-year-old building contractor Sukkasem Charoenrat, has denied the charges.

Police say they have testimonies confirming that Sukkasem was pulling his Honda Phantom chopper out onto Ong Sim Phai Rd around 10 pm July 5 after having a meal with his 10-year-old son at the Jay Nang khao mun gai stall outside the PS Inn.

Witnesses said that as he began to accelerate away from the stall, two youths approached at high speed on another bike and crashed into the chopper, Phuket City Police Duty Officer Lt Theeradet Jiraksa told the Gazette.

The youths approached the man, whose son was slightly injured, and tried to apologize.

Instead of accepting their apologies, Sukkasem allegedly pulled out a pistol and began firing.

Many people eating at street side stalls in the popular dining area ran for cover or fell spread-eagle to the ground.

After firing about seven shots, the man and his son calmly got back on the chopper and rode off.

A restaurant owner who witnessed the incident alerted police.

Officers arrived to find Phuket Technology School student Nuttapong Naweewong, a 17-year-old native of Koh Yao, dead at the scene. A 9mm bullet had entered his left temple and exited from the right.

Witnesses said the other youth, 19-year-old Sarawut Jitlang of Satun, was shot once in the head while trying to flee. He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital, but died soon after arrival. Sarawut was a crew member for a speedboat ferry service to Koh Phi Phi Don, police said.

Also rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital was bystander Anucha Waree, 18, who was shot in his left arm.

Lt Col Amponwat Sangruang from Phuket City Police said that investigators visited Sukkasem’s home in Patong on Friday, but he was not there.

A 9mm handgun was discovered at the house, police said.

A warrant was issued for Sukkasem’s arrest on Saturday. He turned himself in at Kathu Police Station yesterday at 5:30 am.

Sukkasem has been charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder and carrying a gun in public without a permit, added Col Amponwat.

The case has been sent to Phuket Provincial Court. Sukkasem is being detained at Phuket City Police Station.

  6. Should stop raining sometime around the end of November.....maybe that's why it's called the monsoon season

Hmmm....everyday in Phuket is "monsoon" season.

Monsoon refers to wind direction, not rain.

The north-east monsoon from November to April brings dry, fine weather. The south-west monsoon from May to October brings rain.

I have to thank this thread. I was going to stay in katu when i arrive in phuket enf this month, totally forgot that i have to drive my motorbike up and down the hill between katu/patong in rainy days. Seems i should find somewhere in patong then

  7. German to be deported over no work permit

Witzel’s German business partner has bought out most of his interest in the Patong project and his architecture firm. Witzel said he is afraid he stands to lose a large investment if he is forced to stay out of Thailand.

I guess someone set him up. Because for such large project he was doing, probably thais related to him were getting peanuts.

    Maybe not Thai...who knows? :o

    LaoPo

I don't understand how someone working on such rich project didn't have any strong backup? Because in thailand, everything can be sort out by money, before in charge officer at polic HQ open new file for the case. After file has opened, money can't do nothing

  8. German to be deported over no work permit

PHUKET CITY: German architect Frank Witzel is awaiting deportation following his arrest on June 22 by Immigration officials. He was arrested for working without a work permit while on a building site in Patong, and for performing work prohibited to foreigners.

Witzel pleaded guilty to the charges in court in February. He was fined 1,000 baht and handed down a one-month jail sentence, which was suspended for two years.

Witzel explained to the Gazette that the events that led to his deportation began with his company, Modern Architecture & Design, and its Patong View Talay project on the Patong hillside.

The project, built on land that Witzel owned on the hill opposite the Esso gas station on Phra Barami Rd, will consist of 14 apartments priced from 4.2 million to 18.6 million baht each.

Witzel, 52, had designed the project, but when it came time to renew his work permit at the beginning of the year, he ran into problems. He first tried to go to the Phuket Provincial Labor Office to renew the permit, he said, but it was closed due to a holiday.

He said that when he returned, he was told that the work permit had expired on the holiday that the office was closed and was told that he would have to apply for a new permit.

He relayed the information to his staff, who failed to submit the application.

On February 3, he was called out to the work site by his development partner to answer questions about where pipes should be laid. At first Witzel declined since he had no work permit, he said, but his partner assured him it would be a fast job, and he drove out to the construction site.

Once there, he pointed out where the pipes should be laid, but suddenly found himself confronted by Immigration officers who had driven out to the site to do a “spot inspection”. Unable to produce his work permit, Witzel was taken to the Immigration Office in Phuket City and charged with working without a permit.

He was also charged with performing work prohibited to foreigners – specifically, working as an engineer and architect.

Witzel faced a penalty of a 2,000-baht fine and two months in jail, but when he pleaded guilty, his penalty was reduced to 1,000 baht and one month in jail.

Since he had no criminal record his month in jail was suspended for two years, so he paid the fine and was released. He thought that would be the end of it, he said, but he was unclear about the rest of the legal ruling, Witzel said.

However, he still had to deal with Immigration regulations that state that any foreigner convicted of a crime is subject to deportation. According to the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522, Section 12, any foreigner who violates Ministerial regulations can be prevented from entering the Kingdom after being deported.

Witzel said he was never made aware of those regulations and was surprised when he was arrested again June 22, thrown in the Immigration detention facility and told that he would have to remain outside the country for at least two years.

His lawyers – and he has gone through three lawyers so far – have been in negotiations with Immigration officials to try to reduce his time out of the country, and Witzel has been told that he may be barred from entering Thailand ever again if the Immigration officials in Bangkok deem it so.

In the meantime, Witzel, who had a heart attack and bypass operation in Germany last year, was transferred out of the Immigration jail after spending six days in custody and into Mission Hospital, and finally released again on bond, awaiting deportation.

Witzel’s German business partner has bought out most of his interest in the Patong project and his architecture firm. Witzel said he is afraid he stands to lose a large investment if he is forced to stay out of Thailand.

  9. 400 pounds, that's lot of weight? how did you get that far? You must be large guy in frame, or densely muscled?

I tried to PM you, buy didn't go through. I started bodybuilding 3 months ago, i'm hardly 5'5" only and weight 160Lbs. I can bench press 200 Lbs only. I use optimum whey 100% protein as only supplement. I'm looking for some tips on how i can become much stonger and put on much more body weight close to 190-200 Lbs, if possible without taking very strong stroids. I'm moving to phuket end this month and looking to team up with some pro B.B to gain more experiance specialy on supplemention

Team up with some pro bodybuilder........very unlikely. What is possible is to find a "big guy" in the gym and ask if you can train with them, they may need a spotter etc, and go from there.

You look massive in profile pic. Also what i saw last time in patong was, plenty of extraordinary physics. Seems phuket is becoming popular destination for bodybuilders than elsewhere in thailand including pattaya

I remeber patong gym selling low protein shakes for 100 bhat. Can someone tell me if i can buy quality proteins 10.7lbs bags like optimum somewhere in phuket? i don't want to bring them over with me, if i don't have to

  10. Hi,

I am relocating to puket end this month and looking for a "clean" place that is furnished with TV, refrigerator, ADSL or telephone line for internet, Kitchen/kitchenette and balcony. Having maid cleaing once a week and security is a plus. Monthly rental to be around 6-9,000 bhat, depend of niceness of place.

Patong is OK, but Katu area is more prefered, any suggestion appreciated.

Must have aircon and fan also, thanks

  12. i think no.1 on Tornado's list is the gym i go to, Patong Gym http://www.phuketgym-patong.com/

Its not fancy but it has everything you need. I think they advertise 1 month's membership as 1,500 but i'm sure you can bargain it down as longer term memberships are quite a lot cheaper.

I agree, good gym. I used to go early at about 7am before work and the cleaner was always vacuuming or cleaning and it put me off my work out. Its hard to bench 400 pounds when someone is vacuuming next to you..... thats my excuse anyway. :o

anytime after 9am would be ok.

  13. Our Daughters names are all western.

No problem at all from the Hospital.

They did ask for our marraige certificate, this may have had some bearing on it?

(My wife changed her surname to mine when we married)

We wrote down the name we had chosen.

They went off and had it translated into Thai for her Birth certificate.

We went to get her birth certificate, no problem there either.

What for marraige certificate? what if you aren't married yet?

and hwy they care about name? May be father wants the get the baby foreign citizenship

I had a friend whose wife gave birth at vachira hospital, and No complain.

  14. You can also use leg press for calves.

BTW Easy Fitness Centre in Kathu have lots of free weights now

Thanks, but you can't. Calf is kind of muscle that won't get huge by doing reps or other leg machine. You need to do load of heavyweights with calf machine only

  15. Dear Members,

In my opinion if boys and their father can discuss issues like HIV, and safety measures like condoms , then there is no harm, in father taking his boys to a disco, introducing them to a few people , just to break-the-ice.

Ofcourse, I understand that after a limit then the boy has to be left on his own to find his own bearings and make his own decisions.

In my opinion its just a part of upbringing the kids, in the same way, as we teach them to behave with elders, and not to lie or hurt people, etc . etc.

You are very intersting and educational farang, it's my honour to have you here. Unfortunatly my father was ready to behead me, had i asked him taking me discotec

  16. I would read the OP to mean like a disco / nightclub.. Not a place that has dancing classes.

Like how night club social scene looks and is..

Tho most of the ones here that cater to westerners are pure meat markets.

right, i didn't read the post

i know few thai clubs like that in phuket town, but no farang and thai music mostly. Chicks there are hot hot hot some with BFs

  17. Hi All,

I agree about the HIlton. They have day, week and month rates. The grounds are amazing, swiming pools, squash and the gym always smells clean and fresh. Sauna and steam as well.

Does patong gym or any other, have calf machine? most gyms in thailand don't have it
