  1. 5 million bhat?

Let me see, avarage thai earn around 10k bhat a month / 5,000,000= 500 months of earning

I won't buy my future wife thai or farang wife, nothing more than 50k bhat in her name. Poor german man thought he still living in germany

No, i don't think woman was childish, police will release her soon, because his gunman might be after them soon :o

  2. Hi,

I am located in Dubai, and good boys here seems want to take care of everything including voip (internet telephony like skype...) and i do make lot of overseas calls.

Someone told me of a software which don't remember name, once you connected to internet, it starts up and automaticaly searchs all ports which are not yet blocked by local ISP.

Software has pics of a guy with long nose? i tried some softwares from internet, they didn't work or i couldn't set them up manually

    Thanks for any input

  3. Also for those complaining about high prices haven't shopped around.

The Whitesands resorthotel in Patong is offering rooms for 500 baht. It's a nice new hotel.

You can buy rambutan at the markets for 5 baht a kilo. But if you buy from a street vendor they're 20 baht a kilo! BOOHOO!

If you're not smart enough to shop around don't complain!

Especially for those of us who have lived here "for 7 years"! :o

I don't this guy major problem was price or frienliness in phuket. What i think is, the guy has attachement with city life and nothing in common with islands, beachs....

Remember i hated phuket when i came here ( that's why my nick is BKKDUDE) first time, nothing to do, except going to beach (couldn't even swim well) and bangla road chasing girls late evening.

After i learned riding bikes ....become a pro diver.....fresh air fresh food.....made friends here.....going around phuket town....shopping malls and hypermarkets .....i found enviroment big enough not to miss city life or get bored easily. Even i ejony BKK, but i think i have more reasons to be in phuket for now.

  4. My friends (restaurants owner in Chaweng) reported earning loss ratio of 40% compaired to prev.year !!!! Usually they used to work "hard" for 4 months (July-August-December-January) and with that earnings they could survive for all the year.... Let's see what will happens this year.... .

    Of course they N.E.E.D. a help from T.A.T. too....! ¨! ! !

PS : I L O V E S A M U I more than the others countries(believe in me, a lot of them are not amazing like Samui) visited (I mean not only Thai places...all around the world)

    Manu Chao

Koh Chang and Phuket are more expensives compared to Samui.

I agree that samui without any doubt much nicer than phuket. But Two factor affecting samui business which the "restaurants owner in Chaweng" forgeting :

1- Tsunami recovery: I remember i was in phuket after Tsunami, i heard that Samui is packed with Tourist while no body in phuket, most probably tour agents in foreign countries, as well in bangkok

recommanding and booked people for samui, in worry of any disease or corpses remaing in phuket beachs at that time

2-It costs nearly 3,000 bhat more, to get to samui than phuket. Samui has two class of tourist: Rich and backpackers, less middle class tourist. Rich one choose air, and BPs use bus or air to suratthani, then from DonSak by ferry to samui.

70% tourist to thailand are middle buget, given the options as first time visitor to thailand, most probably they decide for phuket.

  5. :o I agree AND disagree with most of the posters here.

3000/mo for highspeed internet/phone/basic cable and electricity and water

3600/mo for meals (assuming Thai food .. lunch at work etc ... eating western should go into entertainment budget)

1000/mo for fuel for the bike

2000/mo or less for laundry etc (mine runs about 1600)

3600/mo for meals a month? are you sure?

I don't think anyone can survive with eating Thai food 100% of times? Remember, you are farang, and somtimes you desire to go to Burger king, Pizza, star buck, eat steak.....American breakfast, bar BQ..kebab.....

I eat Thai food 80% times, but "two plates" instead of "one plates" (i'm small farang) , remember Some Farangs are very large in size and can eat almost double or thrice as much thais eat.

I say 300 bhat a day, for good food to remain healty, specialy to recover from lot of alcohole consumption, think about it for a moment

  6. After 5 weeks she asked for some money (20,000 baht) to send home. He was shocked and upset, and kicked her out. This guy has a lot to learn about Thailand. :D

Did he paid her anything after all?

There are so many dumb farang coming to patong for every reason "Tiger" disco DJ always shouts: No Money ...NO Honey.. :o

  7. Could not agree more with borracho. Over the years many folks have asked me how much they need a month to live on Phuket. I consider 40,000 baht/month the minimum to just get by in a very modest lifestyle. 60,000 baht gives a basic western lifestyle. At least 80,000 baht month to rent nice house, have motorbike & car, able to party from time to time. :D

BTW, you won't (easily) qualify for a work permit on 30,000 baht/month. Or do you intend to work without one..... not a good idea !! :o

60,000 Bhat is more than enough to live better than avarge guy living in Europe. As an expat (without family) spending 80,000, you get closer to being a thai ATM or into luxery stuff.

I think local experiance along with "age" also plays a big factor to expense in phuket

  8. I will give you a breakdown:

    7,000 -decent resident (long-term contract)

    3,000 -utilities

3,000 -transportation (whethere you have bike or pay to go around)

    10,000 -Meals 3 times a day

    5,000 -laundry, medical, Grocery....

    ---------------------------------------------

    28,000 Bhat at least

30k Bhat isn't enough to have good life in phuket, you will be constantly struggling to save little money and forget partying, drinking , movies, club/gym membership or living with a partner.

I say add another 10k-15k from your pocket or other source of income, you will see lot of differance.

  9. hey havent been there for a year, but they have one heavy bag, and a smaller bag i believe but you have to take the heavy bag down first. Depending on the time you go the heavy bag is/isnt in use.. 4800 for 6 months isnt too bad especially for phuket. I used to live there and would buy month to month for 700 but that was from the owner and his buddie. 4800 for 6 months is around 800 a month, i cant remember but i think the listed price per month is 1200 or something ? cant remember.. anyways it seems big, and a fairly good setting, and one of the biggest selection (still actually not that big though) of free weights and benches around though.

    here their web

    www.phuketgym-patong.com

Monthly is 1500 per their site, I guess they know farang can't do six month contract. I'll be staying six month at least, no problem. Meantime they open 7.00AM, i prefer weight training in early morning.

I'm bringing 2 packs (each 10 Lbs) optimum whey protein bags and they should last for 2-3 months only. Does anyone know if you one can buy high quality protein like EAS or optimum 100% whey in Phuket?

  10. 3-Separate coach for MMA and Ju-jitsu, to teach me ground fighting skills ( i dnn't expect them to teach boxing, because they can't be a good boxer by any mean)

ha ha ha.. So your saying that anyone who can coach MMA cant coach boxing..

What kind of standard are you talking case if its basic training for a noob then I would say your way off.

Hey Smarty, definitely way upper your standard.

  11. Why do you care if other farangs not there? I prefer to be the only farang. Girls are there, they don't go home because each have 8 boyfriends that send them money every month.

I'm returning august, and hope no farang still around, i don't go to bars, i catch them left and right...Jump at them anywhere....streets ....resuturants....7-Eleven store....on roads on bike..... life is really good :o

  12. not sure if your looking for an all in place with boxing and weights etc, but Patong Gym is fairly good as far as a good place to work out, good selection of free weights, i am still having problems finding gyms that can compete with it in BKK even.

I had look at patong gym and six month membership 4,800 bhat, it's so far the best gym among farang districts, i thought transfer there after few months of training with some fight camps. If i remember correctly they had just one punch bag there, right?

  13. When you say "American style boxing" I take it what your actually talking about is 'British style boxing' as fought under the Marquess of Queensberry rules.

I don't know that, but thais seems to think of muai thai, when you say you want to learn boxing, and then they ref to it as Mohd Ali boxing or some say American boxing

Of course this term still apply in western world, where we have American and European style boxing..

  14. 6- I know PhuketMMA and Tiger camps charge like 9000 for first month and 6,000 following month, they are outrageous. Is there a way i can get the price down to 4000 and follwoing month to 3,000. I won't use full training programs like runing, sparring,...I train 1-2 hours every alternate days (15 days a month) unlike pros 6-7 hours a day, aslo i don't need any camp accomodation.

    Thanks

    Sorry, misquoted above:

  15. http://www.boxinghelp.com/thailand.html

I'm returning to phuket early August and visited few above gyms when last time in phuket, i couldn't really decide which one to go for? All they had thai recipient and couldn't understand what i need

I'm not a boxer, just boxing fan for last 18 years and i think i can judge what kind of training is right for me just to get fit and strong, i don't want to become a boxer (fighter) and just little sparring would be ok with me somtimes

    I'm looking for following:

1-Machines and weights good enough for avarge drugfree bodybuilder to put on some weight

2-Separate coach for teaching boxing (American style), to teach me right way doing shadow boxing, proper work on punch and speed bags.... (unfortunatly all i saw was Donkey kicks and huggy bears, i saw ZERO hand skills good for boxing)

3-Separate coach for MMA and Ju-jitsu, to teach me ground fighting skills ( i dnn't expect them to teach boxing, because they can't be a good boxer by any mean)

4-"NO training in the ring" for boxing, but OK for MMA and Ju-jitsu , there is misconception in thailand that you gotta learn footworks and hand skills while fighting " IN the ring"

5-I prefer to be trained by farang, not thai

  16. Can anyone recommend or know of cheap accommodation

in these areas? (Phuket/Hat Yai) Between 250 and 800 baht

    a day?

She's sleeping in her car at the moment while she's working

around Phuket. She's a civil engineer and is working around

different sites until the end of the month.

She only requires a comfortable room to sleep in.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance!

    :-)

Phuket Town. Quite literally hundreds of options in that price range. Try the Crystal Inn, Phuket Town, right in the centre near Ocean shopping centre and Robinsons. Was around 450 baht a night last time I stayed, the rooms are clean and it was excellent value for money. Air con, everything. On On guesthouse even cheaper but I can't vouch for the standard. Hat Yai, no idea, sorry.

But the website says 850 bhat from Nov to april, not 450 bhat.

    http://www.phuketcrystalinn.com/roomrate.html

  17. -The is very large waterfall in katu is very nice, has few eating places and nice surroundings and popular with local thai visitor some swim (not farang). I been there few times with Gf, difinitly most exotic thing i miss about katu.

-Phuket has several weekend market, intersting things to see and buy.

-Try thai buffet or Bar BQ " moo ga'atha ", eat all you can include veg, dessert and fruits for 99 bhat. Large beers are 79 Bhats only.

Get away from Patong has nothing, except some brown sugar

  18. You think it's racist to use the word Paki? Sorry, but using that word does not a racist make.....

Don't worry, Smartecosse is good friend of mine and he's not aware of my alias here. However it's my mistake, i didn't know in english, paki might sound offensive, because in Persian language we used to say Paki when i lived in bkk.

Btw Ali-Baba i tried last time wasn't bad, they have 4 resturants over phuket and samui

  19. Did you actualy ordered Naan? there is Naan, Parata, chapati, roti,...In Thailand, thais know Naan and Roti(the roti that they mix it up with banana, chocolate, butter,...cooked outdoor by some burmese and bangalese) they all test different.

Why don't go to patong, around Robinson area where they know their stuff very well and serve middle-east customers. The problem is they don't all cook the same way. For example indian like parata thin and non greasy, pakistanese like thik and greasy.....You have to try and find out where to go.

I used to go to Dubai resturant, they are paki...Try some arabic resturant, most have indian cook and serve paki and indian food too

    Can you say the difference

    http://www.indianfoodrecipes.net/indian-br...ipes/index.html

Btw, try speaking english with indian accent and shake ur head a bit if you can? you might get more attn :o

  20. Risk: No risk, there is 6 feet wide line for motorbike ride anywhere you go in thailand. I used to drive from phuket town to patong which is 30 minutes and back every day for six month. take the left line assigned for bike riding

Rain: you aren't in calaharai desert USA, this is thailand always there is a resturant or place to stop if there is a rain.

  21. Why pay for a car, you can go by motorbike takes like 2.5-3 hours even you stop midway. Take avantage of fresh air, i'm sure you will enjoy more going aorund in krabi by motor bike

  22. Not indian, they are all Nepalese or burmese, but look like indian people. I know their boss are actual indian, so they can kick and get ride of them anytime they want, you can't do that with thai employee :o

  23. Tuktuks are most disgraceful thais in patong. They just hate seeing farangs riding motorbikes, God knows how many times i was nearly run over or horned out of madness by these speeding idiots.
