I wonder how they think they will pay the the ongoing care given to him since the pacemaker.
Even if they can get him on a flight for medical evacuation that will cost minimum 50,000 GBP , hope the family have deep pockets.
He is bedridden, has paralysis, vascular dementia.
Hate to sound hard, however seems like poor investment, for a very questionable quality of life, can he express his needs or the family just reacting at an emotional level?
I would say so. I have made it very clear to my sisters and parents (who are still alive), that under no circumstances should they move my body if I die, that I should be disposed of in an easy way (and inexpensive). If I become seriously ill that the same should apply, treat locally if I can.... but nothing extraordinary... a reasonable quality of life is important as well... and when you reach a certain point -- death is a natural conclusion (yes, I fear death, but I fear loss of quality of life more).

OK, happy to report that I (under 60) between ages 55 and 60 who registered on Aug 1st @ expatvac.consular.go.th and did not list any of the 7 qualified 'chronic diseases' (though I do qualify for the obesity category - I did not have a medical certificate saying I was fat) have received the vaccination appointment email for an appointment at Central Plaza (via Bangkok Hospital Khon Kaen) on September 5th, 2021. (vaccine is Pfizer).

Cases of hospitalisation and deaths after fully vaccinated with Pfizer reported in New Zealand and Singapore. What's your point.
That is a totally meaningless statement, if you want to make relevant points you might want to do a comparison based on rates of hospitalization/death vs infected - comparing immunized vs non-immunized.
It is like saying there were deaths or life threatening injury by people in car accidents at 80kph who were wearing seatbelts (inference being so seatbelts provide no protection).

Yes, if you can have a police official make 43K baht and have 29 cars in his possession without a full investigation on how he did it... until video of him murdering someone is leaked... then corruption is endemic...

The first thing they should do, is change the law to stop the clock ticking on the Statute of Limitations - so that once the arrest warrant is first issued -- if the individual leaves the country or flees arrest... the clock is paused until they turn themselves in (and return to the country if they fled). Until they do that, I take every action they take with a grain of salt... just going through the motions.

I don't know why most people would have to horde, nor would many have the ability to store anything worth keeping. You can horde a few bottles of oil and other cooking ingredients, probably a few cans... but most of the diet is made up vegetables, fruits, meat/seafood, rice. There should be plenty of those around as long as there is not a catastrophic farming year. If there is a shortage of one item, adjust and prepare from what is available. I would think that for the most part, western countries are more at risk from supply chain disruptions...

The constructions can hopefully progress accordingly, but the occupancy seems strangely out of kinter, if you could kindly direct me to occupacy rates? I do know one huge hotel complex in Naklua that does boast an occupncy rate of 86% {for one night only,in months)for bussed in Thais taking advantage of 50% off ,with futher 20% off coupons
Yes the 707 project is paused? more like fallen off a cliff Id say
And I bet those Thais taking advantage of things like that are for a subset of hotels, discounted and probably mostly on weekends. I would also be curious as to the veracity of the bragging because most hotels in the west treat that as a trade secret almost.... because letting people know gives them more negotiating power and that is something that no business really wants to get into.

Also received the it can not be further processed due to lack of required visas.
I can see now that it is because the file section for passport only accepts 1 file!!!
Some reported that multiple files could be uploaded as long as they were all selected and uploaded together rather than selecting one file at time (those just replace existing one). I just opened up an app and merged the 3 photos into one larger photo because I was not aware of that at the time.

There was also a very dark time in the history of Germany, where the Nazis determined what art and literature is. How that ended is well known.
Nazis luckily also favoured 'classical physics' rather than the modern 'Jewish Physics' of the likes of Albert Einstein... that stance made the development of nuclear weapons a bit more difficult (Deutsche Physik aka Aryan Physics).

By my estimates ... maybe a floor per tourist.

Yet the Hotels like Marriot, Aetas, SO Bangkok, and a few other large ones have been shut now here in Bangkok for most of 2020, and this year as well. Nothing like an empty hotel with hundred's of rooms, restaurants and all staff laid off. Why build new ones, or why build new condos, the answer is they either have money to burn in order to take a write-off or they really expect SE Asia and Thailand to grow in tourism more than it did before. I think it will take many, many years to recover, and these locations will sit unused or still un-opened.
I know when I did long-stay at Mayfair, Bangkok - Marriott Executive Apartments (Mayfair on Langsuan) -- the hotel was Marriott but was not owned by Marriott. It was owned by Thais (land owned by Thai, building owned by Thai) but was basically a Marriott franchisee. I have no idea if this is done by region or specific building (i.e. one building different franchisee in Bangkok than another)... but I could see it being a bunch of different developers/franchisee investors and not the Hotel chain itself (I suspect the Hotel chain will end up making money regardless of whether a hotel is viable).

If me & the Mrs are staying, do we get TWO keys?
And that is an AVERAGE of 246 keys? per hotel. Really?
All the locations highlighted in the map were tourist areas. I suspect this is tracking the major hotel chains / hotel chain franchisees that build the big hotels -- not your regional ones that create the small boutique hotels. The one that use to be close to where I lived (in Canada), Chelsea hotel was 26 floors 1500+ rooms. So lets say in an average 12 floor hotel you might have 500 rooms.

"Spread is slowing"....."Reach its peak soon"......... Call me thick, but if it's slowing, didn't it already peak then? ???? This guy has the mental capacity of a child.
I think for this one - you can assume he meant the acceleration of the spread is slowing down... one of the graphs that are used is a logarithmic graph.

impossible to see all 70 million here as “priority” !
priorities dont work that way…….check dictionary definition…..
Of course priorities work that way.... the one that is top priority is has 1 as a priority.... the one that is 70 million on the list... has 70,000,000 as the priority... but that does not mean that 70,000,000 is not a priority... just that there are 69,999,999 who have slightly higher priority ????

If they are taking responsibility for this and trying to resolve it... (admission of loss of face)... then obviously it is not the one registering that was at fault.

Why would they want to check it? Other than perhaps to confirm you are not Thai. Think too mut!
It looks like you were the one that was wrong about the visa being validated before the reservation would be accepted by MoF. However it looks as though some processing them may have incorrectly excluded those on a non-immigrant visa for the purposes of retirement.

Me too
According to Richard Barrow, this reject for being on a retirement visa is an known issue and MoF are aware of it and working to resolve it. I suspect some who were doing the verification got confused about permanent residency and non-immigrant visa for the purpose of retirement and invalidated it wrongly. This does clear up the fact that I was absolutely correct about the process and that they would be validating the visa before passing it on to MoPH.

5 hours ago, 2long said:"announced the achievement .. after the first phase of its clinical trials"
Well then if they want to go ahead and announce it, there's no need for further trials!
Actually, the Phase I results will usually have sufficient information to indicate whether the vaccine will cause enough of an immune response to indicate there is a good chance that it will make it through the 3 phases. The primary difference in the 3 phases are a staged increase in healthy individuals testing the vaccine (Phase I - maybe up to 100 volunteers; Phase II - maybe several hundred; Phase III - maybe a few thousand. Each of them you are getting a more diverse and larger sample set to work on. The same sort of news release was given after Phase I of the COVID vaccines in the United States. As the sample set increases things may change, but even with 100 you should have a good indication of about where the efficacy will end up (with a larger margin of error). Later phases are more about figuring out the dose size and getting a better indication of side effects etc.

Just got my confirmation too. Same time same place same vax. Booked via thailandintervac.com on 5-Aug. At least I assume it is an intervac response not an expatvac 2-Aug one. Date is right, time not quite the one I selected, so will have to stay over the night before.
Well, if you get the earliest appointment -- if you are one of the people that starts camping out at 3am to get a queue number... you will only have 7 hours in the queue ????

SURVEY: Will Thailand continue to be a favorable destination for retirees?
in Thailand News
Posted
There are many people who have the idea of retiring to Thailand when their time comes that they can retire - they will come here from retirement. Tourism will not likely recover for at least 5 years, probably more... but retirees will start coming when it is not such a hassle to travel.
