So I guess you can't do 90 day online then?
Was this at Samui immigration?
Do you use a fixed deposit account or just a normal savings/current account?

I think perhaps, due to people's experience, 12 months statements should be requested from the bank no more than 48 hours prior to going to the IO, no matter which financial method is being used, 800k or 65k per month.
Boy scouts, be prepared, they may not ask, but if they do, you have it for them already.
Never hurts to have "Belt and Braces"....
I will get the 12 months statements just in case!

Wow, I didn't know that Samui had a visa-agent, the question about one has been up before, someone asked, but nobody could mention any...????
Seems like we all have different experiences with Samui Immigration. Khun Nok was always kind and helpful when I came in the old office in Nathon, even on days when the girls in the front office said: "Not good today, better come back tomorrow", and I just walked into his office, sawadeed and smiled, and he did my extension within a few minutes, stamped my pasport (the only thing that really matters for me is the right rubber stamp there), kept the 2,000 baht (I never ask for a receipt, nor for a 100 baht change) and showed me out the backdoor. Sometimes he would follow me out for a smoke, and have a short small talk on the bench outside the office...????
The (plump) lady in charge of long stay extensions in the new immigration office is very strict, like German "ordnung muss sein", and double-check the documents a couple of times. However, when one knows how she, or the immigration office, wants the paperwork done – i.e. all photocopies portrait and signed, papers exactly in the order as the document list, and no staples in anything – she often smile and say: "I like you, you are so organized", and hand me my number for collecting my passport some days later; I always pay with two 1,000 baht notes, and I never ask for a receipt, nor for the 100 baht change...????
So far I have only good experiences with Samui Immigration from my 14 annual extensions, if the 100 baht service fee makes the change, I'm happy to pay it...????
She obviously has "The Hots" for you Mate!
Get in there! .....If you can find it?
Roll her in Flour and then look for the "Wet Spot"!
And if you do...... Strap a plank to your a*se before you Dive in!

I've been using a 12-month fixed bank account, for maximum interest, for more than 10 years (you can always withdraw the funds with loss of interest for last term only). I've never had a problem, and have not been asked to show proof of funds other than at the annual application for extension; or perhaps it's because I use a fixed account they expect me to to leave the funds there...????
Khun Per,
All I know is that is that before when "Mr. Nok" or whatever he was called was running the show in Nathon (before he went to Jail) that he changed the rules almost daily and would "Fix" things for you for a few thousand Thb.
Once I went to do my retirement extension there, but my GF had inadvertently washed my Passport which I had left in my shorts (My Fault)!
"Mr. Nok" or "Mr. Angry" as I called him, made me wait in silence in that back office where he used to sit behind mountains of A4 paper copies and then said "Cannot, Cannot"....Passport VET!".....(Wet!).
I was made to wait and see him every time without any explanation!....I guess he just wanted a few thousand more?
Luckily Herbert Dempster (Best Visa Agent on Samui) was there and I told him the story!
Herbert said he would fix it for me!
It cost me 11,000 Thb for retirement extension, but without Herbert it was "No Go" and I would have to leave the country and start over from scratch!
Now it seems the "Plump Lady" is more or less in charge (certainly at the customer interface) and she always seems to be in a Very Bad Mood!
Whenever I go to Samui IMO it's like "Walking on Eggshells".....
God I hate it!

Not sure if this is of interest, but this will be my 11th extension based on 800K Method!
I know the rules have changed many times and I just use the so called "Savings/Current" account from Krung Thai Bank which "Herbert" set me up with way back!
I have heard many reports of people just sticking 800K in a "Fixed Deposit Account" and then getting a problem and extension refused because of unforeseen "Bank Charges"!

If your are renewing an annual extension of stay based on monthly transfers of not less than 65k baht coming from abroad, you need to show 12 months statements from the bank together with a confirmation letter. Some banks can only print a shorter period, like 6 months back in Bangkok Bank, and they need to request a 12 months statement from their main office, which can take some time to get.
If your are renewing an annual extension based on an 800k baht deposit in a Thai bank you need 3 months statement from the bank together with a letter confirming your balance.
In both methods the immigration office require photocopies (portrait only, and remember to sign them) of all pages in the bankbook(s) in question. Please remember that your balance with deposit method cannot be less than 400k baht, and must be 800k baht 3 month after permission is granted, and again 2 month before application for a new extension.
All bank statements must be official statements from the bank.
The documents required to extending a stay based on retirements is here...
You can read more about extension of stay in the pinned thread...
Many thanks KhunPer.
I have only used the 800K method and have a copy of all the other requirements.
I was just checking because as you know Samui IMO changes the rules all the time!
Great reply! ????

Dear All,
I have read that some immigration offices are now asking for 12 months of Bank Statements when doing their retirement extensions.
My Extension (Non-Imm 'O') is due next month.
Has anyone extended recently and if so can you tell me what the situation is at Samui immigration.
I have also read that some banks take a week or more to provide 12 months worth of statements.
I bank with Krung Thai.
TIA

Be careful with full seat covers. I got them for my crv, but later realised that I have inbuilt airbags in the side of the seats. I really should remove them and put on a cover that only covers the top surface of the seat. Check if your seats have the airbags in them, first.
Thanks for the update!
Although the seats look bad on the photos in my Motor they are not really that bad when you see them.
My mistake was never having conditioned them, but I am sure after my research I will be able to make them look pretty good!
For the time being I am going to try a few restoration products/methods and see what happens.
I understand what you mean about side airbags!

Really ? people call this leather ?
it is so ugly !
and then some wonders why we buy German cars...
Well when I lived in the UK I only drove Mercs and BMWs.....M3 Evolution was a blast.
The Mercs were a little more Sedate, but very Luxurious.
The only reason I don't drive a Merc or BMW on Samui is there are no dealers (for servicing) here and also the Ridiculous Prices!
The reason I bought the Fortuner is that the Roads are so poor on Samui and the Main Toyota dealer is only 10 minutes from my house!
I bought it new for 1.6m Thb ....You would be lucky to buy a Decent Spec Merc over here at 3 Times the price! And then Servicing Costs similar and a trip to the mainland by Ferry every time!
No Thanks!

You can get full seat covers on lazada in various designs and colours and the odd time original toyota etc ones .
Just outside nathon on right there was a guy that fixes or replaces them as I seen him sitting outside doing some . It is about 300m if driving in lamai direction and roughly between boonsirichi kitchenware shop and the fishing tackle shop.
Great info....Many thanks!

It's copping excess wear form your leg as you get in and out of the car as the car is high. You can try those products I mentioned; they may help a bit. If that doesn't help you could rehupolster the seats, or put on a seat cover.
Thanks...I will look on Lazada.
I know that there are products for this, but was wondering if any valeting companies offer a service.

What model of car is this? Have you ever used any kind of leather nourisher or cleaner on them? I assume it's leather.
It is a Fortuner.
The seats are leather.
I haven't used any leather restorer or polish to date.

Emotions run high when it comes to covid, I try to take it easy:
1) Thailand has been slow to acquire vaccines, this is likely partially due to the success they had last year.
2) Thailand will acquire enough vaccines, question is when. Thailand is the kind of place that can make
vaccinations mandatory. I fully expect mandatory vaccination for annual extension of stay, we will see.
3) I have not seen any flip-flops. Until they actually have vaccines I take all pronouncements as early speculation about policy, political pandering, out of context or fake news.
4) Vaccine rollout? I won't be critical, when has a massive rollout of anything affecting every citizen in a country gone smoothly from day one? I don't even consider what has happened to date as a rollout, I look at it as preparation for a rollout. I don't expect it to go smoothly, I expect confusion. In the end, most folks will line-up and get the jab, all the nonsense news will be forgotten.
5) Assuming enough vaccine is available, I would expect that everyone can pretty much get vaccinated within about a 6 month period.
6) I consider the schedule to be anywhere from 6 -9 months from availability, Yes it can be achieved.
7) Yes of course foreigners will be able to be vaccinated. We just don't know the exact details. To be fair even the Thais are scrambling around just now, confused..
I am disappointed by the "emoji" and response options on this forum currently.
We have "Thanks....Ha Ha...Confused...Sad....
Why not Tw#T!! ???

At my age, people in their 20's are "kids" and that's the age group they're in.
And with them calling the trip a Pfizer Holiday and flaunting their vaccination certificates, yes, I'm sure they want the vaccine, even though they are in a lower risk group than older people.
My home state of Massachusetts is now vaccinating anyone 12 and up.
I love Massachusetts....I went on business 30 years ago and Just loved the place...I will always remember having seafood at a bar at the pier just down the road from "Seven Gables"....I will never forget that...So Good! ????????... I just checked it out on Google Maps and it was called "The Sea Level Oyster Bar"...I had Lobster!

Krabi - wonderful scenery, beautiful city (both Krabi town and Ao Nang). I moved from Krabi after living half a year there because - again, nothing to do.
Phuket east side - dirty beaches and sea; west side - a bit cleaner beaches and sea.
for long stay I'd choose between Phuket and Samui.
Koh Tao...Too small and infrastructure sucks....Maybe 2 days if you like diving?
Krabi ....Not been yet, wanna go but only for a few days (maybe weekend).....Seen plenty of Vids on YouTube...Ao Nang just looks like very small "Beach Strip"......Railay Beach (Day Trip)!
Phuket .....Stayed in Kamala, Patong, Kata, Karon and Rawai....All good for different reasons!
All I can say is I have lived on Samui for 11 years!...Suits me as a "Hub" for travel.
I know that Bangkok Airways was a "Rip" before Covid but <deleted>!.....100 Quid each way to BKK???

OK the beach isn't that great. Samui might be great for a short time but the hassle in travelling outside and the taxi (and Bangkok Airways) mafia would <deleted> me off.
Well I have been to "Patts" and Phuket many times, but chose to settle on Samui.
Pattaya was great for Girlies and cheaper than Samui for most things, but I like beaches (clean ones)......I love Phuket for the the bigger variety of scenery, beaches, The Old Town and Bangla Road was real fun before Covid!....I think Phuket and Samui have similar prices for most things, but I think Phuket is higher for decent property rentals?.
But, I got a great deal on a beachside house (near Lamai) on Samui 11 years ago for 110,000 Thb pa....and managed to get a fixed price 5 year lease!....I have been a good tenant and do all maintenance, gardening and repairs myself and as such have renewed the 5 year lease at the same price Twice!....Even with Covid I know it would be at least double that if I was starting again, but the Landlords are very wealthy property owners on Samui and have become like family friends!
Just before Songkran I was planning an extensive driving tour of the South (including Songkhla, Trang, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Phuket and Phan Nga...... plus the National Parks along the way).
This is easily doable from Samui once you have taken the ferry to Donsak (if it doesn't sink). ????
My rent is so cheap that I could even use my current place as a second or "Holiday Home" if I choose to get another place somewhere after Covid dies down, but anyway it is a Great Place to live, with all amenities close by...Makro, Lotus' and Big C.
I have used Nathon Govt. Hospital on many occasions, but now aged 63 and with the Covid situation I have taken out Health Insurance which is not cheap!....In fact it costs more than my rent! ????
But, I have also used Bangkok Hospital in Chaweng for emergencies (dog bite, broken arm, Ladyboy attack, etc.,) and they are excellent if a bit pricey!...There are another 3 Private Hospitals on the island as well as Govt, clinics.
I have a motorbike, but having witnessed accidents and very nearly been involved many myself (never my fault....Samui drivers and roads are CRAZY)....I now just use the bike to go to 7/11 or Family Mart down the road and use the SUV for any distance over 5K!
I haven't been to Chiang Mai yet, but would love to visit outside "Burning Season" ...I have seen some great Road Trips on YouTube about CM and bike rides up to Chiang Rai, Pai, etc.,
I hope this gives you an insight and would "deffo" agree with other posters that you should come and rent a place for a short time to check it out!
Good luck and if you come PM me for a beer (assuming no alcohol ban) and I will gladly show you around the island! ????????????

Bank statements Samui Immigration
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Posted · Edited by Mario666
Well I was told to bring my bank book and copies of my last 3 months statements for every 90 day report since my last extension.
I am confused that different people seem to be getting different treatments.
I will go the the IMO tomorrow and just ask them point blank!
i.e., Do I need 12 months worth of statements when renewing my extension even though they have seen all the statements already and the bankbook.
I don't want to be in a situation where I might miss my extension deadline whilst waiting for my statements to arrive if they have to come from Head Office.
If I did miss the extension deadline then I would have to leave the country!
It's bad enough that Samui immigration only let you apply a maximum of 10 days before your extension is due or at least that's what they tell me!
